  1. I booked a solo cabin on the serenade and while unlikely have still been watching for price drops. Imagine my surprise when i did a search and found interior and ocean cabins were sold out. I decided to try searching for 2 people since i didn't recall the cabins being sold out and those cabins were available to book for 2 people. They are just locking out singles. Is it common for them to do this? So sad. Another knock against singles.
  2. So if your category is full, does that mean no price drops? An agent told me to keep checking.
  3. Thanks. Thats good to know the tiers. I’ve booked a 9 day royal caribbean before and that explains the difference.I’m actually thinking this may be a good way to motivate me to save for the cruise. I’ve been spending too much on eating out lately. We’ll see what the price is. Thanks everyone for responding.
  4. Thanks. Thats good to know. I wasn't familiar with how celebrity worked. Checking on cost of refundable deposit.
  5. Deposit is 480 cdn so maybe 400 US? I don't know if i'm charged more as solo traveller, you aren't with royal caribbean. Good idea to check cost of refundable deposit.
  6. Is this a bad idea? Its the abc caribbean cruise in jan 24 and i can get a good deal but non refundable deposit. I swore i wouldn’t book this early again and yet here i am again. The deposit seems expensive compared to royal caribbean. I’m not sure if thats because i’m travelling solo. Also is celebrity air any good?
  7. Thanks. Yes i calculate i can stay 4 nights in san francisco for same price as 7 night pacific coastal. Good to know catalina is nice. What about astoria?
  8. I’m still waffling on taking a pacific coastal or just flying to san francisco a couple of days. The cruise is 2 days in san francisco, victoria, astoria and catalina island. Are these places worth a visit? (I’m from vancouver so don’t care about victoria stop.) would i need an excursion in astoria or could i walk around? I’d like to see the astoria column if i go.
  9. I have an astrazeneca moderna mix and i’m wondering if these are still not allowed in some places? Interested in potentially going to the caribbean next year.
  10. Thanks everyone. Its not just about the price, its about a vacation time that works due to a restrictive work schedule. I will definitely be checking on what excursions are available and that is good to know about the whales and wildlife. Last time i went it was september so it would be nice to see a different view. I will think about this though.
  11. There is a good price for an alaskan cruise on april 23rd next year. Is that too early? I know i wouldn’t get as close to the glaciers, not sure what other problems.
  12. Could you use nexus for a cruise from canada to the states?
  13. Do you put nexus into arrive can if you have nexus or do you use your passport to set up?
  14. Yes its on the serenade which i believe is a smaller ship so i may feel the roughness more.
  15. This is for a sep 25 cruise to los angeles from vancouver. I believe i started the thread quite some time ago when i thought i'd go for a cruise in the spring but was deterred as it was rougher. Sounds like its calmer after san fransisco so i'll see how many days until then.
  16. I need to make a decision soon. I’m considering just flying to san fransisco instead but its cheaper to take a cruise. This ship has only one sea day so it looks like rough seas will mainly happen at night. Is rough seas something that could keep me awake?
  17. Is this offered by royal caribbean? I see holland america has it.
  18. Thanks for the comments. I'm from canada and i think the cancel for any insurance we have here isn't very good. Its good to know that it isn't only solos being offered guarenteed rooms

    Alaska in May

I've been to alaska in september before 3 years ago. I'd like to go again but it feels a little soon. However i'm wondering if may looks different and the peaks are snowier. However i'd also like to take the small boat excursion to tracy arm and have heard sometimes ships have trouble getting through in may. (I wouldn't go until next year)So does may look different but it may be better to do tracy arm at another time?
  20. I took holland america before and had a guaranteed room. I assumed because i was single that was my only option. (I booked through a ta.) Now i see there is an option to book my own room but the one room i mock booked was very expensive. Is it the case you either book a guaranteed room or choose a more expensive room or are certain rooms (even within same category) more expensive then others. Also is the insurance truly book for any reason like if covid numbers increased i could cancel?
  21. Thanks for taking the time to post your photos. I didn’t know if i’d want to go to tracy arm but it looks lovely. I’ve been to alaska in the fall but is the spring snowier? It would be nice to see a different view.
