  1. I considered that for my cruise last week, but even at half cost through NCL it was only about $100-$150 savings compared to booking the flights myself AND ensuring I got non-stop flights.
  2. The cruise line doesn't care who owns the phone, just who is signing in to the internet with it. If your daughter is guest 3 or 4 in the room, she's not eligible for the upgrade option as I don't believe she gets the 150 minutes free, though that's not specified in the T&C's as it is for others with the restriction. The other possibility is if your daughter is over 13 she is eligible for her own MyNCL account, the cruise might show up once that's registered and the upgrade could be purchased through there. A tip - you can get the non-streaming unlimited internet for $109 IF you wait until the second day to do the upgrade AND don't activate the Free-at-sea minutes.
  3. Only 30? I was in line nearly 90 minutes pre-show and had enough in front of me to fill at least half the venue - on the Escape, for the Rumours (Fleetwood Mac) show. It's probably better than some municipalities. The water is desalinated/purified either through reverse-osmosis or distillation, then some elements added back.
  4. An issue? meh. A consideration? sure. I cruised last week, I feel better during this first week post-cruise than I did the week after I cruised last year (took 3 extra days off as a result) and the ship had probably at least 50% more passengers on it (maybe even closer to 75% more). I thought on Monday that maybe I had caught something but that passed, and I did a test which came back negative. I didn't wear a mask at any point during the trip - airline or cruise. That's actually something I noticed that many people complain about - there was actually a distinct LACK of people coughing on that cruise. That said - I DID have COVID in late January so maybe my immunity was slightly elevated and helped fend off any hint that I might get it.
  5. Yup, I've always had all the water I could drink, I just had to supply the bottle if I wanted to tote it around with me. NCL allows you to buy packaged water that you'd keep in your room.
  6. They usually have the cabin hall access doors closed until the rooms are ready, giving the staff uninhibited access to do their jobs. Putting a suitcase in the hall would interfere with movement of the carts they use. As others said - cabin ready times vary by cruise line. With recent cuts that's going to be later than in the past. My cabin wasn't ready until 3 PM when I sailed on the Norwegian Escape last week. The ship DID have a spot for carry-on luggage storage, but my rule of thumb is not to carry on anything you're not comfortable hauling around for a couple hours.
  7. It doesn't need to be. The ship's manifest is submitted to the country or port prior to or upon arrival and the names can be checked against certain databases. If an issue is found either the ship wouldn't be cleared to disembark or the passengers impacted would be called to guest services (I heard an entire family called there while we were waiting for clearance at either St. Thomas or, more likely, Tortola last week) to either clear up the issue or be told they can't get off the ship.
  8. reading the entire thread is helpful - several posts ago the OP indicated that their friends have resolution...
  9. Not to sidetrack the thread too much, but I saw someone filling directly on the Escape last week. I pointed out the sign as she finished putting ice in her bottle, she shrugged her shoulders and proceeded to fill the bottle with water, directly from the dispenser. Some people, for some reason, just don't care at all about others... Le Bistro is becoming my favorite specialty venue. French Onion soup, Steak Tartare, the sole and a chocolate dessert is my go-to there.
  10. Part of the issue here is that NCL doesn't call out Colombia in the travel documents page, and it should be for just these circumstances. Ultimately it falls on the passenger to understand the rules for travel to the countries they wish to visit. While I'm sure NCL has people monitoring things, the government of Belize could decide tomorrow that a passport is required for cruise travel to that country but the NCL site may not be updated until a week from when the decision is made. That puts people relying on the cruise line to inform them of these requirements in a bind.
  11. Comedy and Choir of Man were the only shows that took reservations, unless you also plan to do the show in the Supper Club. I made my reservation for Choir of Man prior to the cruise but that was the only show that could be reserved before the trip. Reservations can be made on embarkation day at the Box Office, deck 7 by the theater. I had made a reservation for the 7 PM show but the solo host arranged a group for the 9:30 show on the same night, he was able to call and get my reservation changed. A group of us walked in with someone that didn't have a reservation, she wasn't stopped and there were still some empty seats.
  12. I was thinking the same thing, Colombia may be a sticking point rather than Panama...
  13. From last week (3/18-3/25) FreeStyle Daily day 1.pdf FREESTYLE DAILY day 2.pdf FREESTYLE DAILY day 3.pdf FREESTYLE DAILY day 4.pdf FREESTYLE DAILY day 5.pdf FREESTYLE DAILY day 6.pdf FREESTYLE DAILY day 7.pdf
  14. I was on the 3/18 Escape cruise and was able to send and receive messages (both standard SMS/MMS and RCS) using my Android phone and NOT signed in to the internet, which I ultimately bought on day 2 anyway..
  15. @ziggyuk that's a nice water bottle! Nalgene isn't cheap! and I saw them on the Escape last week...
  16. I haven't seen many of these either. I'm used to the pens and card holders that stick on the back of a cell phone.
  17. Service wasn't bad. I was part of the solo group so the solo host generally called ahead to the restaurant to let them know we were coming. The one night he didn't call ahead I got a nasty look from the hostess when I told here there were 9 of us, but 30 seconds after I dropped the solo host's name we were being led to a table. I thought, at times, that maybe the MDR people were a little slow filling water glasses at the beginning of the meal, and one time I had to ask for my second appetizer (it was the only time I got two, but not because of that). Other than that, they seemed pretty good. Lines for other events, such as Syd Norman's Pour House or Headliner's for comedy or Howl at the Moon were to be expected. Between 9:30 and 10. I had a 9-9:30 check-in time but the car rental agency wouldn't bring anyone over until NCL told them they could. Once I was there I waited less than 10 minutes to complete check-in and got boarding group 3. I was on the ship by 11:30. Yes, still at Port Canaveral. Debarkation was not like I experienced on the Joy in Miami last year (possibly due to passenger count). In Miami last year the facial recognition for CBP was done at the exit of the ship. In PC this time it was done inside the terminal after luggage was collected. First one was at Tobacco Road, but the host then led the group to the Studio Lounge where the meet-ups were held the rest of the week. We had over 30 there the second night!
  18. The Studio cabins were FULL on my trip (we had over 30 at the solo meet on the second night!), I didn't hear much. I actually think they softened the door closers on the doors I used, or they were different from the ones on the Bliss, the common hall doors I used closed relatively softly and people near me seemed considerate about their cabin doors.
  19. Sorry, I forgot to check that! That hall you asked about was definitely an exit door though. I don't know, I'm not a coffee person so I never looked at that stuff.
  20. I just walked around the port area. It wasn't the most pleasant port day I've experienced, it rained on and off for much of the visit. Not to mention that it was a 6 am to 1 PM stop. Covid? Seemed like no issue. As of right now I'm feeling perfectly fine, better than I can say I was after my cruise this time last year, which resulted in adding 3 days to my vacation. I don't have an exact number, I know they had around 5,000 the week prior (1400 or so kids) and that we had about 1,000 fewer.
  21. The Joy last year had prizes for all the games I saw.
  22. On my Escape cruise last week there were several activities for which a prize was not given to the winner, just the double signature on the activity card for winning the activity. I happened to win one that DID have a prize - a t-shirt that's one size too small...
  23. Several of us were thinking GSC wasn't going to happen. Seas were fairly rough, rougher than last year when I didn't get to Costa Maya on the Joy, but they made the stop. I hear the Getaway didn't make the stop earlier in the week.
  24. @Linda the Book Lover I ate at Le Bistro. I think that's becoming my favorite. I had the onion soup, steak tartare, sole and the chocolate dessert.
