price adjustment was never on the online form. you always had to call to do it over the phone. this is what i noticed over the years from my past cruises

Thank you, I didn't realize that. With our cruise last November I always got the OBC for early saver since I paid in full when I booked.

  2. I know previously you could receive OBC for a cruise that was already paid in full and could get a rate adjustment for those that weren't paid in full to reduce the total due. I am seeing the option for OBC or Upgrade on the form (can't remember what it used to say if it was different). Our cruise is not paid off yet, so I would prefer to reduce the balance over OBC. Did they do away with that? I don't want an upgrade, I like the cabins we chose. Is my only option now to pay the total due and just take the OBC?

Hi Mouche! Great review and I admit I didn’t read every entry so I may have missed some important things.  I’m booked for 2/17 on Sunshine for the first time but we’ve cruised with NCL, Carnival and Royal Caribbean many times -  this is our 25th cruise. You sound like us - Bahamas has been done to death! 😆 We booked with a last minute casino deal and chose a balcony cabin. Do you know if there are coffee makers in balcony cabins? Looks like you got a sweet deal.  Hope my casino deal is as full of nice perks...I’m not quite sure. Thanks!

I don't think there are coffee makers in any cabins. I don't remember reading that there were. We had a suite on the Sunshine and there was a mini fridge, but no coffee maker.

Breakfast was good again this morning and the 12 hour French Toast was spot on, very good and cooked through. Steak and eggs was equally as good, the steak was so tender. I also got the chocolate seven layer cake, OMG!!!😀

This is exactly what I ordered on the Sunshine. So so good!

Congratulations on the win!!! So exciting!

Okay y’all, everything was going so well on this trip until after lunch, when I got back to my cabin to take a shower,  there is NO WATER!!! Mind you we all just got back from the beach. Yikes!!! Called guest services and they said it will be about an hour before the issue is fixed, I am not a happy camper right now, but what can you do. Oh, let me share our Getaway gift for today from the Players Club.

    Oh no!

That happened to me on our Sunshine cruise last November, except I was already in the shower when we lost water. It was gone for maybe 5-10 minutes, not sure but it felt like an eternity. I was freezing!

Enjoying your review and photos! Thanks for sharing.

  6. I just called my PVP yesterday to ask this question, as well as when excursions will become available. We are booked 2021 on the Radiance and she said neither will be posted until about 10 months out from sailing. I do not know if that is a definite timeline, I plan to look sooner just in case. But she did say the ship is not even "built" yet so FTTF will not be released until after it is complete.

My favorite is deck 7     7411 area.  (changes to a different cabin # depending on the ship.

But next door is another catagory and costs more.

No across the hall neighbor standing outside the room talking to their family 4 doors away.

This is where the firedoor is stored.

stairs and elevators are easy accessed

Up two decks is food and pools

    Down 2 decks is entertainment.

deck 7 is sandwich between cabin space and away from public areas.

We loved deck 7. Hubby wanted that deck for our next cruise, but we are bringing 3 of our daughters with us and wanted rooms across from one another. We couldn't find any even close on deck 7 so I chose lido since there were cabins available directly across from each other.

    Hi,

It totally depends on the ship, itinerary, length of the cruise, number of people in my group...

Some ships are so good that by booking a cheapest cabin you get a ticket to cruising paradise. On the other end, an enjoyable cruising experience on some ships require a certain minimum of cabin quality.

    So... no favorites...

    Happy cruising!

Do tell the names of some of these great ships 😊. We are just getting started with our cruise addiction and I would love to  know.

I second the Lido deck.  I though it would noisy but my last carnival cruise I booked last minutes and there where only two balconies left on the whole ship and both were on the Lido.  I loved the location and try to book it when ever possible because it is just so convenient.

I was worried about the noise too, but decided to try out lido for our next cruise. So close to everything, but the main reason was because there were no balcony and interior rooms showing available directly across from one another on deck 7. My husband wanted deck 7 since he liked it on our previous cruise. I hope we love it too!

  10. Just curious what everyone's favorite is and why they like it. Is it different for you depending on the ship or do you always try to book your cabin in the same area no matter what?

Hoping to enjoy many cruises in the future. We have our second booked, but it isn't until 2021. I have struggled  when choosing our cabins because I really have no experience. I would love to see what seasoned cruisers have found to be the "best" (in their opinion). 😊

  11. Thank you everyone for your replies. They sure helped me alot! I was able to see our categories on the deck plans and see the same categories on another deck. So as long as one is still available on either deck,  should there be a price reduction in the future, we can submit for ES. I'm glad that I now know what to look for. Thanks again!

From what I understand, the 4A 4B 4C... are all inside cabins and the higher the letter the more "desirable" Carnival deems the cabin to be (usually = higher decks).  Same for the other categories of rooms (ov, balcony...) but with different #/letter pairings.

I do believe that claiming price reduction has to be for either the same category (#/letter) as you booked or higher.  Meaning if you booked a 4J you can't claim a PR on a 4H, but you can possibly claim it for a 6A (and you should be able to move up to that room too if you so desire.

Hope that helps.  I'm sure others will have more details

Do the numbers represent the deck the cabin is on?

  13. I'm confused about cabin categories. Are the categories: inside, ov, balcony, suite, etc. or are they 4B, 4F, 8D, etc.? What do the different number/letter combinations mean?

When requesting a price reduction with ES which part is the part that has to be the same to receive the match? Sorry if that is a stupid question.

I didn't have to worry with that on our last cruise because we had an OS on deck 7 and they honored it with deck 7 and deck 5 OS. This time we booked a lido balcony and an interior on lido. No price drops this far in advance, but I want to be prepared should they come in the future. Will we only be able to match cabins on lido or regular balcony/interior cabins anywhere on the ship?

  14. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has posted codes. I was finally able to join Allstate Rewards last week after unsuccessfully trying for months. No matter what user Id I would create it always said it was already in use. I even tried multiple email addresses when signing up and could never get through that final step....until I got the idea to try my old user Id and password from when we were Allstate customers years ago (not Rewards members) and it worked! I'm guessing it may have actually been the name and address kicking it out since there was an account already linked to those. A week in and I'm at 60,000 points!!! Thank you again to all of those who have shared. I was a participant in the old AARP Rewards program, but don't care for the new program. So very happy to be a part of Allstate Rewards.

Was just messing around with some possible codes, and stumbled on these for 1k points each.

I got 1000 pts for the first code and 1500 pts for the second code. Thank you for posting!

I can think of several hotels that have not changed their mattresses in 15+ years and a couple that are even using mattresses from their previous hotel brands prior to being re-flagged. I wouldn’t expect Carnival to replace mattresses frequently at all.

I would not expect that either, question was asked if they did new bedding on upgrade.

I didn't figure they frequently replaced mattresses, wasn't sure they would even do it with a refurb unless they were extremely worn. I was more talking about the sheets, covers, etc. when I mentioned bedding. Just curious how "new" the ship is going to be. We will not be on her until April 2021 so I know things won't be exactly like on the first sailings, but I would still expect things to be fresher than an older ship that has not been updated in a while.
