When Carnival upgrades a ship and renames it, like with the Sunrise and the Radiance, do they gut it or do they just change a few areas? I was wondering if the cabins will be like new. Carpets? Bedding? Etc. Will the ship look like a brand new ship?

Yup.
Another benefit to this kind of booking is that only one of you have to purchase Cheers, should one of you decide you want Cheers, while the other does not.Thank you. So do we need to go to guest services because of the room keys? Also, is there a charge for switching keys at guest services?

I'm trying to book two cabins across the hall from each other. It won't let me book our kids in a room without a parent (ages 20, 16, 14). Should I just book myself and two children in one and my husband and one child in the other and switch rooms once on the ship? How would that work? Or should I just call Carnival and let them book it the right way? I don't want to have to put all the names down yet just in case something comes up and our 20 year old backs out. It says in the terms "no name changes".

There is a Cyber Blowout early saver rate available until November 26 with half off deposits (and up to $50 OBC). I could have paid $125 pp for the Mardi Gras instead of $250 pp.
So different ships have different deposit requirements? I thought they were all the same, my bad. Our last and only cruise so far, it was $150pp but with half off of course it was only $75pp. That explains why the mock bookings for Breeze, Radiance, & Mardi Gras are still requiring such a high deposit. Half off would still be $125pp. Thank you!

The current deposits for past cruises are $50.00pp for the fleet, except the Mardi Gras. I tried booking for March, 2021. I finally saw in small letters on the description of the sale, the difference. I understand a price difference for a new ship, but not a deposit difference, unless sales are going very well, and they feel people would walk away from $50.00 before they'd walk away from $125.00pp. I really don't blame them.
So every ship should be $50pp except Mardi Gras?

Last year Black Friday deal was a coupon code for like 5 to 15% off a shore excursion
Thank you. Is there any rhyme or reason as to when they release the elusive $50 deposits I've heard of? Or even half off deposits on ANY cruise? When I booked our last one deposits were half off ($150 for two people), but I'm not seeing anything even close to that. With mock bookings it has been either $625 or $675 (I can't remember) for 5 people.

We just recently returned from our first cruise and we are hooked! I'm looking to book a family cruise since this one was just me and my husband to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Does Carnival usually offer any low deposit deals on Black Friday or Cyber Monday? I keep seeing sales advertising 2-for-1 or half price deposits, but every cruise I price comes up with the full deposit due. Or does the deposit vary depending on the ship?

I think I remember the clam shells being around $29, which includes the clam shell and two loungers.
Thank you

I just went through this same thing a couple weeks ago. First I was told I couldn't adjust the rate because there were no cabins in my category available. I said I'm looking online at one right now and gave the available cabin number. Then after a 20 minute discussion about the whole point of booking early saver, getting denied, then approved by a "mgr" I was told I would no longer be able to adjust my rate, that I was no longer booked under early saver. Last week my rate dropped again as 3 cabins became available so I decided to try the online form just in case the rate could actually still be adjusted and not have to deal with the hassle on the phone. I was approved in about an hour and for an even better rate than the one I requested.

Online check-in for the cruise I am booked on is August 4th. It is 9:39 mountain time here, August third. So, if anyone knows, will I be able to check in after midnight mountain time, Pacific time, Central time, Eastern time, or do I have to wait until sometime in the morning? I have been so excited to check in [no idea why] for over a year. So, if anyone knows, when exatly can I checkin? Thank you!
Mine just became available today too and I have felt exactly like you. So excited! I logged on at midnight and started the process, finished it quickly but the earliest time was 12-12:30. Wondering if we can arrive sooner since we purchased FTTF?

At most ports, you will have to go up an escalator to board the ship. Look for an elevator because lugging a large suitcase up an escalator is a trick to say the least..
Ugh! Yeah, definitely don't want to try lugging a suitcase up an escalator. It probably wouldn't work out for me.
Anyone know if the port in Charleston, SC has an escalator? I do not remember one from the vlogs I've seen, but they don't always show everything.

Also, I got tired of pulling my card out of the pouch to have it scanned.
That's what I was wondering if you would have to pull the card out of the pouch. I guess that could get aggravating. Also didn't even think of the pouch breaking. Guess I will just buy the clip kind. Thank you for your reply. 😊

I don't really want to wear one, but since there may be times that I need a lanyard, I was considering purchasing one for when/if I need it. Which type is best? The one with just the clip or the one with the clear pouch. I wasn't sure if you actually slide your SS card or is it scanned.

I have never used a 28inch bag so don't know how heavy it might be when packed?
Me either. Since they are so large I honestly think that one bag would be enough for both of us, but then it probably would be too heavy. I can't imagine filling an entire suitcase myself, but I guess that would leave extra room for whatever we might buy while away.

The scanners are the same size as at the airport. If your luggage will go through TSA security, it will go through at port. Any larger than that -- check it with the porters beforehand.
Thank you for your reply. We have never flown and will be driving to the port, so I have no idea about TSA security. I bought the 28" case and it's measurements do fall within the Carnival guidelines. I just wasn't sure if those guidelines were for the scanners as well as checked bags.

20, 24, 28 inch? I purchased new luggage for our upcoming cruise and although it meets Carnival's measurement requirements listed on their site it seems quite large. I ordered online, so I didn't see it beforehand. We were hoping to carry our bags (1 each) on the ship with us since we purchased FTTF so we can unpack after we board and get that out of the way.

I think most people just use Carnival's site. According to their FAQ's, it has to be a "Carnival advertised fare," so their site is the best place to look. Just do a mock booking for the same cabin category that you've booked and check the current base price of that cabin. You can only price match if you booked an Early Saver rate and if that category is still available to be booked. Be aware that some categories can be found on more than one deck, so if it's sold out on your deck, it might be available on another. If you don't know what category your cabin is, just look at the deck plans on Carnival's site.
Thank you. I was just wondering because I do get emails from another site about price drops in my category (I did book ES), but those prices are never the same on Carnival's website.
What does Carnival do to a ship when they upgrade it?

Can't wait! We are excited to see her when she's complete. I like to research before booking, but it's harder when the ship hasn't been "built" yet. I'm sure she will be wonderful. I went ahead and booked her for our first family cruise. We wanted to sail out of Port Canaveral this time, so choices were limited. Mardi Gras was not sailing to HMC and that was a must have for us. My husband and I enjoyed it so much last month that we wanted our girls to experience it as well.
