  1. Definitely looking forward to the music crawl I have read about! Is there a specialty restaurant you recommend?
  2. We like to relax and enjoy good food and service. We are go with the flow people and can generally have fun doing anything. One of our favorite itineraries is a Trans Atlantic because we get to relax. Don't get me wrong, there are days we love a lively party but generally, that is not us. I agree with you that X is raising the prices too much and not providing anything extra. I was blown away to see the charging $1700 for an inside cabin on a 4 day sailing! We love their product but not for that price.
  3. What a small world! I have been living out this way for around 20 years and have seen NW Regional grow by leaps and bounds. I have spent over 20 years working at DFW and the past 2 years at DAL. Thanks for the advise about YVR.
  4. My wife and I are experienced cruiser with 50+ cruise under our belt. We have sailed with many lines over the years with Celebrity and RCL being amongst our favorites. We just booked our first cruise with Holland America for later this month (Koningsdam Vancouver to San Diego). What are your thoughts regarding the similarities and differences between Celebrity and HA? I don't know why but I am just so nervous. Also, what is your experience getting from the Vancouver airport to the port? I have been to Vancouver many times but never flew into the airport, only out.
  5. There should be no problem getting a vegetarian option in either restaurant. You do not have to get the meal that is paired to the show in Le Petite Chef, they offer other options, I personally made changes to my menu. Enjoy!
  6. They are screw top lids. I believe they are 16oz. The cans are identical to Miller Lite cans.
  7. Years ago I bought an inexpensive boonie hat from Cabelas and I don’t go on vacation without it. I see similar ones still sold for $20-$30. No need to over spend.
  8. I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed Le Petit Chef! My wife and I enjoyed our experience on Equinox this past summer. We will definitely dine at Le Petit Chef again in the future. The food was fabulous! If you didn’t do it, recommend paying the extra money for the wine pairing. I hate reading reviews where people trash the experience. I would not run back on every cruise because I think the novelty would get old but definitely an experience to try again.
  9. Turn off roaming in your settings. We were on Solstice in October and had no problems using T-Mobile.
  10. I would have to say Equinox. Most ships are well maintained and look great and Equinox is no different. The food was the best I have experienced on any ship! For me, the crew makes the difference. The crew on Equinox are the best we have sailed with. They are friendly, helpful and respectful. No request is too big or small. Pete , our cruise director, hit the ball out of the park. He was always available and was even in the terminal thanking guest and inviting us back. Captain Matt was always around the ship and interacting with guest.
  11. We dined at Murano on Solstice in October and loved it. The food was top notch and the service was amazing. We took advantage of the first night pricing and it was fairly empty. My wife and I both agree that Murano is a new tradition for us.
  12. That is exactly it! I don’t remember the exact price but as an example, you pay $100 per cruise and get $120 towards a piece to be made.
  13. You choose your own colors. My wife wanted certain colors on her fish and they said they would do it but recommended other colors and showed her why her first choice was not the best. They want you to have a personalized piece but they also don’t want it to turn out bad. You truly don’t get to see and appreciate the colors until it cools down. My blue, white and gray bowl was orange, black and brown until it cooled.
  14. You are making it with their assistance. They tell you what tools to use and where to cut, squeeze or blow. No, you are not doing it 100% by yourself but they aren’t just making it for you either. On my bowl, I spun it to give it is own unique waves, I blew it to give it its own size. When it came to putting colors on the glass, they were also holding the pole to make sure the beads were put on correctly.
  15. We sailed Equinox to GC this past summer. We love sailing on catamarans and I do not recall seeing any doing snorkel trips. Most of the water excursions we saw were on big double decker boats. The waters were very choppy when we were there and we did not enjoy our excursion.
  16. Never had a problem with FBC. I am a retired airline employee and can tell you I have gotten flights on FBC for less than I could have booked them with my companies discount! I have also seen times where FBC was more than the rate for the same flight if you booked it directly with airline. Like anything else, do your research and make the decision that is best for you. I wouldn’t hesitate to use FBC if they had the best deal.
  17. You essentially have a credit of $110 per person. If you choose to make a $110 piece then you pay nothing additional. If you choose to make a $200 piece, you pay and additional $90. The experience is very addicting! I can easily see why people do it every cruise. My wife and I did this for our anniversary while onboard Solstice in October. I made the wave bowl, top row 3rd from left. The artist help me pick the correct color pattern and the piece turned out beautiful! I wanted to use the bowl on our table as a centerpiece. Everyone that comes to our house comments about how beautiful it is. It’s fun to tell them it was hand made while at sea on a ship! My wife made a fish that sits in our living room and again everyone comments on it. Is it expensive? Yes. I’m our opinion, the experience is worth every cent.
  18. Generally we eat in the MDR with the exception of the days we depart a port late and have been doing excursions all day, especially at the beach. If we get back on board at 7 or 8 and are tired, we don’t want to take the time to get ready for the MDR.
  19. My wife is in love with your map dress! Can you share where you found it? Her birthday is on Saturday and I would love to surprise her.
  20. We did Harmony of the Seas when it first came out and hated every minute of it. We are D+ with Royal and will never go back on a ship that big. Try Anthem of the Seas, many similarities to S class ships.
  21. Thanks for your review. We were on the cruise prior to your, leaving the ship on the 5th. Our experience was similar to yours. We had a wonderful and relaxing time! We are in our early 40’s and have been on 50+ cruises and find S class to be some of our favorites. For us, the size, entertainment options, service and food are some of the reasons we love Celebrity. We did the same ATV tour in Ensenada and enjoyed it too. We too booked a similar cruise for next year. Bring on the overnight in Cabo!
  22. Great to hear! We loved Equinox when we sailed at the end of July. Hand down, the best crew we have ever sailed with. Ashle Amber Harris Is a wonderful entertainer! You will enjoy her show. Sign up for the glass blowing class if you have a chance! Everyone raved over the bowl I made and put out at Thanksgiving. Yes, it’s expensive but worth it.
  23. We sailed with Ashlie on Equinox at the end of July and absolutely loved her show. I will admit that I was not excited about seeing the show but a minute in and I was on the edge of my seat. I had the pleasure of seeing Whitney Houston perform live back in the 90’s and for a moment I was transported back in time while listening and watching Ashlie. She has an amazing stage presence. We saw her throughout the ship all week and was taking pictures and interacting with people all the time. She was moving to Nashville to pursue her dreams. I hope to turn on the radio one day soon and hear her powerful voice!
  24. Regarding question 2, we did the trolling trip 2 years ago and had a great time but I do understand your husband not wanting to do it. Ketchikan is the salmon capital. Every time we have been there, there are many people, local and tourist, lined up near the bridges throughout town fishing. In the summer you can practically walk on the fish in the river. If you husband has his own gear, he can just find a nice spot in town to fish. The locals are ver friendly and will even suggest a good place.
