  1. We were on the same cruise as Lew and suffered the worst abuse for daring to claim an empty chaise. It had been held from 7.30am (maybe earlier but that was when we arrived) we settled onto single loungers, after 90 minutes I asked the pool staff if it was ok to take the chaise, which we did. At 10.30am the "owner" arrived and went into an expletive rampage at both my wife and I that we had "stolen" his chaise and that I was a bully and lucky for me he was small otherwise would have taken me on!! You would not believe the language that came out of this guys mouth. I was always taught to respect my elders but this guy blew that out of the park, he was at least 75-80 and just went off. I tried to explain that there was a 30 minute policy and he should see the pool attendants, but he would not listen. After reducing my wife to tears he went off, claimed another 2 loungers and then disappeared. Apparently moaning to anyone that would listen in La Veranda. He then returned and decided to have another go, calling me a bully with yet more "F" words thrown in, this time I videoed him (was too gobsmacked and shocked to get the original rant) I went to see the GM and showed him the video and he apologised and would try and track the passenger down. By this time my wife had decided we were getting off when we got back to Miami the next day (this was the first cruise of 3 b2b) as she did not want to put up with this behaviour for another 2 cruises. Luckily the GM reported back that the offender was getting off in Miami so my wife decided to carry on. The GM was so apologetic but as I told him it was not him that needed to apologise. He also mentioned that that first sector was the worst he had experienced for passenger behaviour. Luckily things did improve and the next 2 sectors were a much better experience. As a footnote to the 30 minute policy the repeat offenders who had their belongings removed and complained loudly to staff and anyone else that they could get to listen were the ones that caused this policy to be bought in in the first place but just did not seem to understand this, I had to constantly bite my tongue as they moaned!!! Another guy thought he was everyones "best mate" and would hold 2 chaise daily for his friends to have at their leisure!! He lost his chaise one day, "but I was only 35 minutes" to which the pool attendant told him it was an hour and 35 minutes. He disappeared for a couple of days and I heard him telling someone he had boycotted the pool deck due to his treatment!! If only these people followed the policy there would be harmony!! We are now reassessing our next 2 Regent cruises as we pay too much money to have a holiday that is not enjoyable due to other selfish people.
  2. I can confirm now that Regent have changed the software on the TV's and supply their own remote control so you can't change the input of the TV. There is access to the inputs sockets but no way to change the input on the set. The next thing to try is taking a Samsung remote and seeing if that works but I'm not due on Grandeur until next January, but I will try then. Film content supplied was OK not a huge library, TV shows were abysmal only 7 TV shows and some with only a random few episodes so no binge watching!!
  3. Last cruise we did on Explorer there was a Super Bowl night, food and snacks with game shown in theatre.
  4. Just attended it this morning on Splendor!! Amazing 😊
  5. On Explorer back in 2020 I was able to plug a HDMI into the back of the Samsung TV and watch my content off portable hard drive plugged into my MacBook. On Splendor in 2 weeks so will be able to confirm if it works on their TV's
  6. I heard from a Regent Sales person that the rules for cleaning were changed back in June. The contractor that was to be used has not come up to scratch and not been certified by New Zealand, so sounds more to do with NZ than Regent. Having said that I would go in a heartbeat, wonderful country and very friendly people.
  7. TV is in the middle part of this unit, when we were on Odyssey in an ordinary V5 the middle part was open with TV in it. TV had just been replaced after dry dock in 2019 so you might find the doors are not there now. It is on a swivel base so can be moved to watch in bed. David We know that now and learnt the hard way but it was our first cruise with Seabourn!!
  8. Probably shouldn't have said "awful", we were talked into a GTY suite by Seabourn here in Australia with the dream of getting something good but we didn't. Allocated a V1 at the very front of ship with metal balcony so I complained and we got offered the accessible suite. David
  9. Hi lux4me We did a Caribbean cruise back in 2017 on Odyssey and were in suite 619 which is an accessible suite. We had been allocated an awful guarantee suite and were offered this instead. Had no problem with it. The pictures were taken by me, unfortunately I did not take one of the bathroom. The bathroom had no tub and a flat floor to the shower with handles and a seat. There is no walk in robe, picture 3 shows robe with sliding doors opposite the bed, this allows wider access around the bed. The layout pictures are from Seabourn's website Hope this helps David Accessible Suite Layout V5 Suite Layout
  10. Hi GP Is there a charge for the wine luncheon please? On the countdown now to our January 21st cruise, can't wait, 3 years since we have left Australia and first time on Splendor. We got off Explorer as the world shutdown!! đŸ˜ĸ Your writings have been great and have followed both your cruises jealously 😀
  11. đŸ˜ŦđŸ˜ĩ so sorry, didn't look under your name!!! Can't believe I did that 🙄 Your suggestion has been an eye opener!! 👍 and much appreciated
  12. Yes, Emirates should be able to. Wow this has opened up a whole plethora of options now, didn't know so many hotels offered day passes, have also found websites that can do up to half day stays at hotels. You Americans sure live in the fast lane!! 😜 Not aware of anything like this here in Australia!! Thank you again, can now look forward to a comfortable end to our holiday 👏
  13. Thanks Dr Cocktail, sounds like a plan!!! Will have a look now.
  14. Hi We arrive back on Splendor at Port of Miami at 7am on 22nd Feb 2023 and at the moment have Emirates picking us up and taking us straight to MIA for our 20:10 flight to Dubai. Is there a lounge we can use before check in, Emirates have advised that check in opens 4 hours before (approx 4pm). Not looking forward to 6-7 hours at airport before we check in ☚ī¸ Do hotels in Miami do half day rates? What would you do in our shoes? Bearing in mind we will be dragging 4 suitcases around with us!! Thanks
  15. Hope not that would push your annoyance on to us here in Australia!!! 😜
  16. I had a reminder in my calendar for 2pm (Brisbane) on Sunday 23rd Oct, which is midnight EDT on the 23rd. Now having received this email, if I am right, I now have to wait until 10am (Brisbane) on Monday 24th Oct, which is 8pm EDT on 23rd. Was hoping to get this done Sunday now have to wait 😒. Looking on the bright side at least we are going cruising again. Roll on Jan 21st!!!
  17. Thank you eroller, I shall persevere and hopefully practice will make perfect!!
  18. Hi Great review and photos. I noticed on Flickr that you used an iPhone 13 Pro, are the photos as taken or fiddled with, the quality is excellent, wish I could get my photos like that. Do you point and shoot or manually override the settings. Hope you don't mind me asking but I like to get great shots and it doesn't always work!!! Thanks in advance
