  1. OK here is an attempt to answer your question. Normally, Princess changes their on board clocks to match local time. In November local Cabo time will be plus one hour from CA time. So when it's noon the CA it's 1pm in Cabo. There are a number of Princess cruises that stop in Cabo in November, one being a short cruise with Cabo as the only Port stop. If this is your cruise then I would expect the Captain to push the clocks one hour ahead on the 1st sea day and then one hour back one the last sea day. If you are on a longer cruise that stops at Puerto Vallarta first then the ship will almost certainly change it's clocks since PV is plus two hours from CA time in November. In any case if you are planning a private tour, the tour operator will know the time the ship is in port, and it will be very clear to you what time it is on the ship and in port. Time changes are printed at the bottom of the Princess Patter and you will receive a reminder card in your cabin.

Thanks, we are on the 5 day that overnights in Cabo. Checking on private excursions and wanted to make sure. Most tour guides know what time most ships arrive, but since this is an odd cruise, they may not know.

  2. My husband & I go on cruises to spend one on one time with each other. Something we don't get much of at home with our jobs & busy lives. We always request tables for two "two tops".

We cruise Carnival mostly out of Galveston & find the two tops are plenty private for us to converse. Occasionally a couple at a two top beside us will want to chit chat through most of the meal. We politely shut them down after the initial niceties and that tends to work just fine.

Not to be crass, but if we wanted to spend our vacation time getting to know strangers, we would choose to sit at a table for more than two people. We think that is great for others who really enjoy making friends on cruises, but for us, our vacations are about reconnecting & growing our relationship.

Carnival is a wonderful line for couples. I hope you too find this to be true! Bon Voyage!

I'm with you, but for us most two tops on Carnival you sit closer to the people then if you were at a four top. The last one we had I could not stick my hand between the two tables on ether side. I'm 6'2" 240 and was bumping arms with the guy next to me. We now do anytime when it's just the two of us and ask for a more private table.

  3. Just curious, where are you doing the Dolphin Swim? We just got back from Cozumel on the Carnival Victory, we went to Dolphinaris. Cozumel was actually 2 hours behind EST, it was confusing as hell because I was expecting it to be only an hour difference. We got to Dolphinaris about 3 hours before our scheduled time and they accommodated us. If you have any questions about it let me know. We booked on our own and saved a ton of money off the Carnival excursion price.

Strange, Cozumel is on Eastern Standard time zone but does not do daylight savings.

  4. Apparently. It has been awhile since I've been on a Carnival cruise. I thought their site used to give the category alpha numeric as you were browsing the cabin types inventory and offerings. It's a bit cumbersome to go to a different reference to determine cabin alphanumeric coding.

Yea, it's a PIA. I think they did away with cabin cat on the booking site a few years back. Wish they would copy Princess, that is an easy booking site.

  5. If you have never been to Ensenada, get off and take the shuttle to town. It's not that much, around $5 per person round trip. Lot's of shopping, restaurants, sidewalk bars and great people watching.

Carnival also offers a wine tour that is not bad. Stops at two winery's, one you get samples of Pizza, bread and cheese and wine tasting. At this stop there is a vendor set up inside that has 100's of Jam's and Hot Sauce you can sample.

The other winery you get a full tour of modern wine processing and a wine tasting. This one gives you enough wine you could get a buzz if you wanted to. You also get a free bottle of wine.

You can also take a tour out to the Blow Hole. A natural formation that the waves force water to shoot 50 - 60 feet into the air. There is a large flea market there, but be warned, pushy vendors.

We have been to Ensenada many times and still get off the ship. Always find something to do.

  6. Not sure when you are sailing, but if you decide to stay in Long Beach, the Queen is a great place to stay. There is a travel club for "last minute travelers" (Google) that is free to join and we have booked the Queen Mary 3 times for around $90. They do charge $19 a day for parking, (most hotels in Long Beach charge for parking) but that still put's you in under $125 a night. There is a free trolley that stops at the Queen that will take you to most of the sites to visit.

If you are staying in LA, better get a rental car. Taxi fares would kill you. If you do rent a car, pick it up at LAX and drop it off in Long Beach. You just drop off your bags at the port, then return your car and Taxi back to port.

  7. November 2003 it was the Ecstasy. We were on it. At the time Paradise was doing 7 day cruises. Not sure when the Splendor arrived, but the Splendor replaced the Paradise on the 7 day route and then the Paradise started the 3 & 4 day routes. They use to bring a ship out for the Alaska summer run and it would do a few odd cruises. We did a 5 day from San Diego on the Elation in 2007.

So, it was Ecstsy, Paradise or the maybe the Elation. Not sure if the Elation ever did 3 & 4 from Long Beach though.

  8. My lawn guy, Roberto, Who is from Cuba, told me that his second cousin on his Mom's side, has a daughter who's boyfriend works in a detail shop in Miami, who's sister works at the a Cuban diner next to Carnival Headquarters, and she said the Fantasy was going to get a Sunshine style rebuild and would be called the Sunset.

This "new" ship will be an all non-smoking ship with special scanners to catch all rum runners and you would be assigned a deck lounge chair as you boarded. There will be 3 MDR's on board, one for cruise elegant, one for cruise casual and one for "It's my cruise I will wear what I want".

All staterooms will be inside with a 70" big screen showing interactive video of the ocean. This ship will also have the first at sea video pursers desk. You will be chatting with people in India to solve all your problems. This can also be done from the comfort of your cabin.

Well as you can see I am board tonight. Having knee replacement surgery Friday (knee # two) and just took my pain meds.

Have a great evening.. I know I will... now where did I put my wine.....

  9. We had a good chuckle on the Golden a few weeks ago. Muster was held in one of the lounges and we arrived early. They scanned our cards as we came in. I was talking to one of the staff and asked what happens if someone is a no show for muster. He told us to listen for them to be calling out names on the PA system after muster, then walk through the lounge as we sail away and you will see them getting their muster drill, and he said, staff will take their time. He told us the captain of the Golden was very strict about muster and had in the past debarked passengers who were found hiding from muster drill. Sure enough, we walked through the lounge after we had sailed and there were 12-14 people still sitting there with there life jackets on, and staff going over procedures very slowly.
