6 to 8 weeks? Do you have your mail forwarded to you as well? Congrats, btw that's a lifestyle many would envy.

And yeah of course decorating your house is different, you own your house. People don't walk literally 2 feet from my front door every single day on their way to work. If you're in an apartment complex (which is a much better analogy) or a hotel room, many of them have very specific rules about door decorating or outright disallow it. I don't see why the cruise lines are any different.

Wow LITERALLY? That is very impressive and makes a huge difference! 😑

Certainly have, and not a single one has ever mentioned door decorations, so I’m struggling to see the relevance.

They tell you about the risk on fire, and also tell you things that you shouldn’t do due to the risk of fire, but no mention of door decorations at all.

If NCL ever tell me not to put anything on the door then I certainly won’t do it, but until that day I will actually follow the instructions given at the muster drill and elsewhere.

You mean like on the daily newsletters that have been posted here?

That's what I was thinking.  Everyone would have a separate card on their room keys, but I know the wife and myself will be in one room, and she was the over 21 for the other room.

The proper key/room/passenger is what needed to be swapped around.

Just assigned on over 21 in each cabin on line and then set up the CCs the way you want them for each person.  Then once on board go to guest services and get a cabin access only card for each person who was online assigned to the 'wrong" cabin.  Nothing to it at all.  Very easy to do.  NCL does not care who sleeps where.  We usually get everyone in our group an access only card to each of our cabins anyway.

I'm having trouble finding recent info regarding changing the second passenger as my cabin mate may possibly change for my cruise at the end of October.

Is there any financial or other perk loss if I were to change the second passenger to a completely different person?  Would booking through a big box travel agent matter as well?

Thank you for any relevant advice!

Booking through ANY 3rd party always comes into play as NCL cannot and will not deal with you directly on any matters to do with your reservation.  Thr 3rd party may or may not have different/additional restrictions on name changes than what NCL has.   The only point of contact that you have that can answer this question is your 3rd party booking agent.

What is a slot pull, and how does it work?

Participants all put a given amount into the selected slot machine (often $15 each in a $1 machine that has 3 plays as max, thus getting 5 spins per person).  One by one he participants take their spins.  At the end the group cashes out ah the money is divide equally.  Some do an additional $1 or so for a side pot to go to the highest winner but that tends to makes things too complicated.

    Ugh - - -

    Egad - - -

On my first cruise ever on the Princess "Golden Princess"  seated in the MDR and the

Maitre d comes over and whispers in my ear loud enough that two others at the table

could hear - "HATS ARE NOT WORN IN MY DINING ROOM" - there was not a table

chair or corner I could crawl under into to hide from the embarrassment -

But a Lesson learned about dining protocol on cruise ships.

Maybe could get away with it at a Sport's Bar - O'Sheehan's - Great Outdoors

but never in a ships dining room.

Side note ever see the ship's Captain or any Officers wearing head gear - get the hint !

Getting back to door decorations - so much Kill-Joy for so little cruise fun !

Get a life - no harm - no foul - although I would like to know what is behind

    that "RED DOOR" !

You had to go on a cruise to learn that a cap is never worn by men while dining?

I’ll start with mine - months later I am still shaking my head....

We had dinner reservations at Teppanyaki.  While in line to be seated, we saw some rollcall friends just ahead of us who had just gotten seated.  There were two seats left at their table - I waved to them and went to grab one of the empty seats, and hubby told me to wait till we are seated by the hostess.

There was another couple ahead of us, who I had actually checked with before getting in line, as it wasn’t clear whether or not they were in the Teppanyaki line.  They got ahead of us - so when it was their turn, they asked the hostess to seat them WITH OUR ROLL CALL FRIENDS, who they didn’t even know!!  It was very clear we knew each other and wanted to sit together and it was done deliberately, so if I were to have spoken up I suspect it would have been nasty.  And no, they didn’t know the roll call group.

So we got seated at a table with a group of 6 we didn’t know who would barely talk to us.

So someone was in line in front of you and got seated in the proper order and THAT was rude?  It was rude of you to think you deserved special treatment and that you should have been allowed to be seated before people who were in lien in front of you.

You absolutely can hang it.  Your steward may or may not take it down.  Tips tend to go down when stewards touch things that don't belong to them....

IOW you tip less when the steward does his job. 🙄

  10. No way in hell do I want to eat with people I do not know and try to entertain them or listen to their endless boring stories while I try to enjoy my meal, especially someone creeping around asking if they can join my family for dinner.  If you want to eat with strangers it is fine and dandy, just find someone on the ship each day to enjoy dinner with, but be careful that you do not become offensive in your quest.
