  1. It was a beautiful night. Sitting at the outside bar enjoying the night and having a couple of cold ones. Struck up a conversation with this wonderful English couple who live in Dover and come to the shore for a drink. Three hours later we parted ways. Great night.
  2. Had a fright when we walked into train station. There were literally thousands in line. As we made our way to the end of the line realized it was for the Euroliner. Note to those who take the train through the chunnel, go early.
  3. I have not read any recent reviews, but certain home ports have different clientele, just part of the reality. While I have no dog in this fight, Nothing has changed with the New York home port, these things get blown way out of proportion. I have sailed many cruises on many lines and the worst fight I saw was between two women on a Disney cruise. I would highly doubt that the cruise line would even honor it if it were in place because of what people cruising act like animals.
  4. Demands always get optimal results. My understanding is that the suspension was due to covid. Based upon current financial situations, and extreme demand of their product right now, I doubt it would be reinstated for a good while. Curious as to why anyone who has cruised with them has any interest.
  5. I attended a Carnival conversations round table in the past where this was discussed, the amount of times that it was used was surprisingly few.
  6. We shall soon see. We pre bought the train tickets, and did the express train (leaving from St Pancras international, about 2 miles away). If we had waited, there is a train station literally next door to our hotel that has a train to Dover Priory, bit it is a local (more stops). In retrospect, might have been easier to do that. For future cruisers staying in the Strand area might want to consider this.
  7. 6 am on July 8th. Body clock still screwed up. Sitting here looking out over London. Received email and letter late last nght that there will be train work and disrupted service (we are traveling by train from London to Dover on Sunday. We are heading out today, hoping they got their dates right. More to follow.
  8. So we have long time family heritage in England. I am a direct descendent of a poet Richard Lovelace and also Ida Lovelace the worlds first Computer Programmer. This guy was a great great great nephew of Richard Lovelace.
