  1. See how happy they are if you try to use US Dollars in Australia or New Zealand. I would not even try to use it in Europe or the UK. It may be readily accepted in parts of Canada but not necessarily given a favourable exchange rate. We travel with Credit Cards as well, that being said many places in Oz and New Zealand charge a % fee to use them. Yes 5 currencies, Canadian (leaving and returning home), US (4 ports), Australian (we're there for about a month), and New Zealand (3 land days and 6 port stops), and don't forget the Fijian dollar. So we will have US dollars with us but we never think of it as "universal", good everywhere. Nor are any of the other currencies we will have. That is just this Canadian's opinion.
  2. I'll have to bid you all good night, sorry to delay the game. I will respond to any guesses in morning Pacific Daylight time (Zulu - 7) Cheers everyone.
  3. I just started watching a show about narrow boating. The presenter is Michael Downie, he is from Vancouver and his presentations are fun and informative. He has much of his stuff posted on youtube. He did a cross Canada by train which was fun. Each 1/2 hour episode was on Province. We are watching on our local independent TV station.
  4. Thanks Mic, I'm not sure I got the whole thing but I will post something
  5. So from the inscription it is Tesla. Unfortunately Google won't tell me where that particular monument is. I will continue to search. Full disclosure I have no personal knowledge of this location and if a stumble across the answer first I will post the guess.
  6. Mic beat you to the Bierhaus. Lynn had Radler and I had the dark beer they were serving, There was an oompah band and I think a schuhplattler dance group. I was inmpressed many years ago I danced in a schuhplattler group at the local Edelweiss Club. That was long ago and it was cool to watch in Munich. We were there just before Oktoberfest.
  7. Exactly correct, I knew it was easy, with the world famous logo on the stein. I think she had the roasted pork, I had a selection of wurst. Like many others we carved our initials in the solid oak table.
  8. It works like a dropdown, there will be a list of screen names. By doing that the person listed will be alerted that they were mentioned.
  9. Thanks Julie. Are you thinking for lunch on our turn around day in Sydney on March 30th? I know Mic is trying to have a brunch before the 4 of you board your cruise to Japan. We a certainly interested in joining in for that. You are correct Lynn can't eat tomatoes (even though she loves them). Lynn's pizza had pesto sauce, house made fennel sausage, pepperoni, hot Calabrese salami, crispy pancetta and topped with pickled red onions. For me it was Cremini mushrooms, pepperoni, fennel sausage, garlic and olive oil. Both were very good. Of course to clear up the "wood fired" part, all I had to do was pay attention to the full name of the Pizzeria "900 degree wood fired pizza"
  10. I would suggest that people remember that the United States Dollar is NOT a universal currency. It is not gratefully accepted everywhere. Just like foreign currency is never gratefully accepted in the United States. Make your currency plans accordingly. On our voyage next year we will be dealing with at least 5 different currencies including Canadian and US.
  11. It is Neopolitan style pizza, with a very thin crust baked in a 900° oven. I'm not sure if it's wood fired. I think it is pretty authentic, I wouldn't know for sure. I've never been to Naples. 🤔
  12. I debated on whether to post this on the pie thread but I'm not sure that pizza belongs there. @Mareblu I thought Mario may find these appealing. Cooked in this oven
  13. Thanks for that Neil. That was the lesson my coworker Shane said to me some time ago. He was from Brisbane.
  14. We have them here, and that's not really a worry. Of course we go through ours anti-clockwise. So that will be different but natural to go clockwise when you are already on the left side of it.
  15. If you were on a fast divided highway with 2 lanes in each direction with a wide grass median, it was not the ocean side route. 😉
  16. We have been interested in the Raptor Center for some time but haven't actually gone. We should do that soon. Did you do the Ocean side route to Qualicum? We have had some lovely picnics there. So far you have planned a great tour of the Island, I suspect you may have gone to more places we haven't been.Isn't it interesting that as locals we live in a place where many people spend thousands of dollars to visit, and it's just every day for us.
  17. Thanks for the link. We tried what they called "Afternoon Tea" on our Zaandam cruise, late summer last year. It really didn't live up to my idea of what "Afternoon Tea" should be. The Tea stands were already on the table, service was not what I would expect. We had a couple seated late at our table which was fine, but they didn't bring out a fresh stand for them, they were just expected to make do with the picked over stands already on the table. It was just lame really. Guests should be seated, shared tables are fine. Then bring the goodies, one stand per 2 people. If there is a late addition to the table get them a fresh serving. I just hope that along with the "Improved" menu, they get a more appropriate level of service.
  18. The ski walk is an interesting attraction. For us even though it is a very short drive from home, we wouldn't go. There is the small issue of heights. I'm looking forward to more of you VI adventure.
  19. The difference is if I choose the wrong side for the indicators I turn the wipers on. If the shift pattern is different for me and I'm using my non dominant hand to shift chances are I end up grinding a pound.
  20. I'm glad you found the documents. You are certainly bold to spend 3 weeks in the US, making sure you have proper insurance is imperative. Be well and be safe in the "Land of the Free?"
