  1. You are missing a big distinction. These are bags you personally carry on the ship so you know they didn't get left behind. Not about theft, at least in my opinion. And you can access them at anytime if you need something before you get to your room.
  2. Generally speaking, changes made prior to final DUE date will affect FAS perks, changes made after the due date will not affect FAS perks.
  3. I'm on the same cruise, we arrived on Saturday. I also had an issue using my BofA card to buy our Disney tickets prior to coming, I had to use my Chase card, not thinking I'd have to pay a foreign transaction fee. Oops. Haven't ever had an issue in the past using it while traveling, just assumed it was because it was an internet purchase?? My Charles Schwab debit card also wouldn't work at the 7-11 bank kiosk at the airport but worked just fine later at another ATM.
  4. If you read what is written on what people assume is a voucher, you won't find anywhere that it says to include it. Just instructions to put your latitude level on the bag and slip. Poor layout on the card, since it is below the vouchers needed for latitudes meals. But not a voucher.
  5. There is no voucher to begin with. What you get is a non-coupon with instructions to write your latitude status on the bag. 2 bags on a 10 day cruise might be pushing it, but it's up to the CruiseNext folks.
  6. They tend to close the security doors now so no access to most cabins unless you happen to find a back way in. As to lost luggage, only seen a lost luggage flier on 1 cruise out of 20+.
  7. And for the 99% of passengers who do adhere to the rules, that would be a plus. "We're not afraid to leave rude, self centered passengers behind so the rest of you can continue to enjoy your cruise"
  8. Banning them from NCL has been discussed, I'm assuming NCL could but don't know if they would. And I doubt if we'll ever know - unless of course they contact the press again about how NCL continues to harass them or something. But flying them home - Nope, not on NCL's dime anyway. Come back onboard where they can endure that walk of shame for the rest of the trip. I just hope the LateEight don't get any further compensation for their troubles - at least not from NCL. NCL, on the other hand, could actually come out unscathed IMHO. Free press, pointing out the NCL goes to exotic locations. And a warning to anyone who takes a cruise that if you miss the all-aboard time you might find yourself with some very significant problems.
  9. Yea, I questioned that as well. And find it interesting that the press is now phrasing it as "a pregnant woman and an elderly man with a heart condition." No further mention of a paraplegic, which I would think, if it was true, would add to the sensationalism the press is looking for.
  10. If the price drops before final payment and you request an adjustment (it isn't automatic), they will refund back to your original form of payment. Technically I believe they are processing it as a rebooking in their system but your reservation # stays the same, and all of your payments stay the same. But if anything else has changed, such as promos, those will also change. So under normal circumstances, your final price will only change by the amount of the cabin price drop. But over the years I've seen price increases for flights and port charges (actually dropped). Or changes in the cost of the gratuities for the drink/meal packages. If that happens, your final cost may include those changes as well.
  11. not exactly. They reimbursed the costs to get to the ship from Gambia, since the ship was unable to port in Gambia. "Despite the series of unfortunate events outside of our control, we will be reimbursing these eight guests for their travel costs from Banjur, Gambia to Dakar, Senegal. As of this morning, all eight guests have rejoined the ship.”
  12. Responsible for not letting them board - nope. All expenses - nope. Additional expenses incurred because they canceled Gambia and have to go to the next port.
  13. So I saw the GMA report - and, other than the fact that they actually ran the story, I didn't feel that they were sensationalizing or taking the side of the poor mistreated passengers. And the moderator's responses were along the lines of "don't be late" - not sympathy for the passengers or any mention of how terrible is was for NCL to just leave them. Anybody else notice the change in the newest reports in the description of the passengers left behind. Before it was a parapalegic, someone with a heart condition and a pregnant woman. So thinking that now the parapalegic has transformed to an elderly lady after some fact checking. Since the original info seems to have come directly from the couple that went to the press, puts more doubt on the credibility of other things they have said. One would think that they were left in the middle of the jungle with no way out according to one poster here. There is a hospital on the island if they need medication. There is an airport to fly them to the next port. No different than if they had missed the ship in the Bahamas.
  14. And 1 picture I saw shows a scooter in the mix, although I suppose it could be something they rented. But if it belongs to a passenger, that would be lots of fun trying to get it up a ladder.
  15. That's a maybe they communicated with the authorities. Was this before or after the final tender returned to shore to drop off the passports of the missing passengers? And the passenger manifest completed, ship cleared for departure. So much missing information. Like when did this conversation take place. Note, the press says they called the captain - yea, I'm sure they have his cell phone # on speed dial. As has been pointed out numerous times in this thread, it's not a simple task to just take on passengers while out at sea. Especially sick, elderly and pregnant passengers. By your logic, no airline, bus, train or ship should be allowed to ever move forward until everyone who wants to board, even if they are late. Wouldn't that be morally right, after all they bought a ticket and have somewhere they need to be, forget about the other hundred - or few thousand - others who will be kept waiting. Or the costs and risks involved in waiting. Why isn't the tour guide getting raked over the coals on this? Nowhere does it say that they were unavoidably detained - just apparently irresponsible. My opinion. Speaking as someone who had to spend the night in the airport not that long ago because the last plane of the day left without me - and it was the airline who delayed my flight, then messed up my ticket so even tho I made it to the gate in time, I couldn't board. Neither could a couple of other families with small children who arrived after me. And I'm 70 years old, sleeping in the airport isn't exactly a piece of cake.
  16. maybe, maybe not. My guess is that it depends on the ship, they seem to have different accounting systems so sometimes it works, most times it does not.
  17. Since you are onboard now, ask whether or not they will carry it over for you. They might be able to do that.
  18. I would have to 100% agree. I also won't mention the nationalities involved but I've been on cruises where large groups will take over the buffet, push past people in line, talk through presentations, block the elevators while they try to decide what to do next and so forth.
  19. I'm pretty sure if you take the early morning train they will take your luggage to the ship - although I went in a day early, so mine went to my hotel. There is a free city shuttle that goes to the train station and the cruise terminal.
  20. I actually had the same thought. There was a picture of a person with crutches but I don't know if it was the actual person or just a stock photo. I believe that some paraplegics can maneuver with the help of braces and walkers. I think the limit is 100 pounds if they need assistance from the crew.
  21. As long as the train is operating (mid-May), NCL should have the Anchorage to Seward afternoon train as an option. Board the train at the airport. Another option is to take the early morning Alaska Train - boards in downtown Anchorage, arrives in time to take an afternoon excursion in Seward - the Kenai fjords are well worth it!
  22. For this specific cruise, the ship had everyone's passport, no need to go to rooms. It also wasn't "anchored" but yes, it wouldn't be an easy task getting passengers onboard after the tender operation ceased. None of the articles actually give a time line - meaning that by the time the alleged phone call was made, the tenders could have already been lifted, after making a final trip to leave passports at the port.
  23. On some ships, the bottom part, below the railing, is also solid.
  24. According to what I had from last August, there was no posted info on lunch at Cagney's - but if they make special arrangements for suites it might not be posted for the general public - which is entirely possible, since I'm pretty sure one of the MDRs (probably the Palace) is also open but unadvertised. Garden Cafe was open for lunch until 3:30, Great Outdoors 3-5 pm. Based on that, I would guess 3:30 also for Cagney's and any MDR that's open.
  25. Several posts in this thread have already directly addressed that issue.
