  1. Another option would be to look at the expiration dates for your points and just cash in those that are due to expire soon - as a statement credit. Might not be the best way but at least you won't lose them. IMHO, a double Meta isn't always the best use, as the difference between inside and OV isn't always that much. I always go for OV to balcony.
  2. FYI - you don't need a voucher for laundry, you just put the info on the bag and laundry list. And yes, I realize they give you something that looks like a ticket but if you read the fine print it says nothing about including it (which I've never done). Every CN manager I've asked has said that you get 2 bags on a 2 week cruise.
  3. Been on the Star 3 times in the last 8 months. Can't really help you much with respect to the ship because I book this specific ship for the itinerary. The ship got me to my destinations, my balcony was a standard NCL room, I never went hungry, entertainment was OK. I had no complaints.
  4. Nothing other than for the MDR. Officers were in uniform when I went, business casual should be fine.
  5. Gosh, what are the odds that I always get the same color....
  6. Color only identifies the ship so unless there are multiple NCL ships leaving from the same port on the same day, the only tag info that's necessary is the room info.
  7. Same itinerary, other than starting point? I chose Boston because I wanted to end in Quebec.
  8. Had my first DWTO last month, it was also the first offered on that ship, post startup. CN manager & head of Security. CN manager was quite the host, very talkative and informative. Kicking myself for not asking Security about how they handle pier runners that don't make it back on the ship. But he did tell us about the jail... I think there were 4 couples, 2 solos. And there were at least 2 different dinners to accommodate the interest. But no pictures or follow up treats. I will continue to sign up... I'm always up to meeting new people!
  9. LOL. Kinda the point of the original comment. It's not a simple task to simply bundle it into the cruise fare without affecting the fare differently. Of course NCL can just add a separate charge - just like they currently do. And people would complain, just like they currently do.
  10. That would depend on how they actually add it to the fare. Currently as a solo, I only pay a single DSC, even if I'm paying double (solo supplement). 3rd/4th person sails free - if fare is based on 2 people, the DSC would be less. So on a 7 day cruise, a solo would, in theory, pay $140 more, a family of 4 would pay $280 less. Plus whatever taxes/fees are involved - there has to be a reason that it's a separate charge.
  11. Doubt that there is any "norm" - lots of variables. I once got my upgrade (pre covid) 3 months out. They wanted my room for resale. Got my last upgrade (December) 8 days out. In July, 4 days. Each sailing is going to be different - total capacity, capacity within categories. History of sales for the itinerary - they know if there are going to be lots of last minute bookings. Or people choosing to pay for an upgrade as they decide not to chance the upgrade.
  12. Pretty sure the rationale behind DSC is somehow related to taxes. So, if that's true, including them would cost you more than what you pay now.
  13. Not free since I don't have the beverage package. And sure, I could order a few cans at a time from their delivery - but still paying the cost + gratuity.
  14. Yes I know that I can add the soda package. I don't drink, so always cancel the beverage package. But with the FAS you only pay the gratuity. That's the difference.
  15. I'm not even that annoyed by the $3 or more per can (prefer Pepsi also) - it's the 20% gratuity on top to just hand it to me! If anybody from NCL is reading this....I do wish they'd include the soda package as a FAS perk. Or have a special if you buy a 6-pack. Even better, let me bring what I want onboard....
  16. Well, since I fly from the west coast my situation is different, plus I fly out of a small airport so have to get to a hub first. But my flights (1 day deviation) were originally Denver to London to Stockholm, on United and SAS. Because SAS was going through issues because of strikes, there was a last minute change to SFO to Munich to Stockholm. I ended up with an overnight in Munich, lost my day in Stockholm - not NCL's fault. Coming home was Copenhagen to Reykjavik to Seattle on Iceland Air.
  17. It might be possible IF the person paid full fare (no solo discount). In that case they should be able to add a 2nd person to the reservation in stepwise fashion, assuming they did not use the BOGO airfare. 1) Move your mom (assuming she is #2 on your reservation) to the 2nd room 2) Remove your friend from her reservation, your mom becomes passenger #1 Just make sure that you let the person you speak with know exactly what you are planning to do so that there aren't any oops moments. NCL's system doesn't like having 1 person with 2 reservations on the same cruise so it could hickup. Good luck. Note: if you call and they say no, you can always plead your case to guest services (might leave of the part about her getting reimbursed LOL). They have the authority to override policy. vicepresidentguestservices@ncl.com
  18. Definitely not true in my experience, but it does depend on location. NCl policy is 2 legs for domestic, 3 legs for international. Since my airport has flights to SFO, it's possible that I'd get the same flight(s) in this instance. But flight 1 for me is nearly always to a hub unless my destination is near the west coast. So then direct from there for domestic, maximum of 1 stop for international. My first trip to Rome went through Toronto. I flew direct at that point. Heard lots of complaints from the people who started in Toronto who did not get direct flights.
  19. Decide before final payment if the savings is worth the possibility of different flights. You can look at the available flights and see how many options there would be from your location to your destination and decide the odds.
  20. I fly from Oregon, small regional airport so always need to go to a hub first. With respect to Rome, flew to Denver - Toronto - Rome on Air Canada. Return was Rome-JFK-SLC on Delta. Another trip returning from Rome was Rome - Munich - SFO on Lufthansa,
  21. "Double Up" when in effect, has been balcony or above, 6 months out for quite some time. With a few additional specials now and then, either changing to any category and/or timing. In December/January they actually allowed 3 for balcony and above.
  22. The Jewel sails multiple itineraries, anywhere from 7 to 16 days so no, there is no fixed order or schedule. Possibly easier to predict once they are doing the 7day Alaska cruises starting in May. However, contracted entertainers change and schedules may depend on the entertainment lineup on any specific cruise. Shows are often at 7 and 9 but that is going to depend on the itinerary. NB cruises will be different from SB. Maybe only 1 show on late port days. And scheduled shows can be switched due to weather (aerialists can't perform during rough seas for example) or illness/injuries.
  23. They don't, haven't post-covid. What is in the fridge has been 3 large bottles/boxes of water that you can purchase. Prices are on tags on the bottles.
