  1. Just off the Caribbean Princess and on Aloha Deck around the A434 area, a number of cabins were flooded plus the passageway. They had to replace carpet in four or five or them and the hallway carpet, too. An women we met at the pre-cruise hotel said she was affected and had been put in three different cabins until it got corrected.

Fortunately it was clear water, not sewage.

  2. Ship was fine except there was a bad water leak on Aloha Deck in the A434 cabin area. We saw it the first day (we were in A534) but not sure if it happened at the end of previous cruise or beginning of ours. They had to replace all the carpet in 4-5 cabins (best guess) and the passageway STUNK to high heaven until they got it cleaned up. No, not that. It was just musty carpet smell. As far as I could tell, it was clean water, not sewage.

We were delayed for 24 hours because of fog. From what I understand, leaving late and returning late seem to be the norm for that port. Fog mostly, but high winds, too. But they recovered enough to give us three ports. A lot of people's travel plans were obviously disrupted, though. I didn't hear a lot of grumbling.

Service was great. We had the best cabin steward we have had in years and years. Dining room was equally superior.

  3. Third place was a couple with around 381 days.

We were second with 391 days. Doesn't exactly match my records.

First place was a lady who now travels solo after losing her husband. She had about 650 days.

The numbers were lower than usual. We've been third place three times before, twice in Alaska and once in the Baltics.

  4. We are back at our hotel after a decent cruise. We made all three ports (costa Maya, Belize, and Cozumel) with nice weather at all three. The two sea days were terrible.

We arrived back at Bayport on time. We chose the last walkoff group and wondered where everyone was. The place seemed deserted. Even our cab driver commented on it. They hadn't started calling the colors for those who had put out luggage the night before.

One nice surprise: we were the second place "Most travelled passengers."

  5. Our granddaughter and her parents all have smart phones on board.

I know this been discussed but can someone please tell me again what they need to watch out for so they don't get a nasty surprise on their bill.

  6. We made it onboard at 6:30 last night. We had Princess transfers but they couldn't tell us when a bus would actually come for us so we blew it off and took a taxi. Don't know if we will get a refund or not.

We are scheduled to leave around 3:30.

Haven't read all the posts so this might be old news but we are going to Costa Maya instead of Roatan.

  7. Sorry. So excited i didn't finish my post.

I'm sure some people won't arrive until Sunday so it will still be a lost day.

Wanna bet those of us who board today won't get our 1/7th OBC. LOL

So we are going to check out, go back to the airport and see how long it takes to get on a Princess transfer. Right now our kids are walking to Wal-mart to get some shoes for my DD. Can you say, "plan ahead?" Not in their vocabulary.

  8. Fortunately in my case it would be a "what if" situation. For those on the ship now, I don't know if you would be allowed to disembark in the middle of the night or not.

Immigration, Customs, whatever you call it would have to work. Baggage handlers, etc. I kind of doubt they will be able to get off until morning.

  9. Staying a day extra won't help us much if we are delayed a whole day like the poor people on the ship right now are. Our flight leaves at 8:00 a.m. the day after we "supposedly" return.

I may need to convince my husband to try to reschedule for a later flight NOW. My granddaughter and her parents are with us and our daughter needs to get back. She doesn't have any more vacation days this year.

  10. I understand, Karen.

Unless you booked your air through Princess, I don't think they will help. I know an NCL cruise we were on was terribly late and we had to fend for ourselves. Another Princess cruise was terribly late and we DID book through them and they rescheduled it for us.

But NCL provided free internet for everyone making new arrangements. It was h-e-double hockeysticks trying to get through. (This was many years ago, BTW.) My hubby finally managed to get cell phone service from our balcony instead of trying to do it through the internet.

This is our 58th cruise. Nothing like this ever before. The second worse was an NCL cruise out of New Orleans where the ship got in very late. We didn't get to our cabin until midnight.

  11. Here is the email:

We regret to inform you that embarkation for your voyage on Caribbean Princess has been delayed 24 hours due to adverse weather conditions in the Houston area.

We have been advised that due to adverse weather conditions the Port of Houston, Bayport Cruise Terminal is closed and the local harbor pilot will not allow ships to enter the port. In response to an earlier weather forecast calling for high winds, Caribbean Princess made arrangements to arrive early into Houston in an attempt to avoid delay. Unfortunately, the marine forecast has further deteriorated as dense fog/mist has limited visibility to less than one nautical mile. The fog is expected to persist through Saturday evening and Caribbean Princess is not expected to be able to dock before 11:00pm Saturday, December 21.

We wanted to advise you as soon as possible of this delay for those of you who may need to rearrange flights or alter other transportation details.

Due to this weather delay, Caribbean Princess will be delayed by one day and will commence embarkation procedures at 12:30pm, Sunday, December 22. Please follow the same arrival instructions as you would have used for Saturday. The delay in departure will necessitate a change to our planned cruise itinerary but at this time we are unable to determine the full impact. All passengers will receive a one night per diem for the day missed onboard in the form of an onboard shipboard credit.

Passengers who have purchased Princess Air and/or Princess Transfers will be contacted regarding their specific travel plans. Should you decide to make changes to your plans, you will be responsible for any travel arrangements and associated expenses.

We will continue to monitor the changing weather conditions and will provide updates as they become available. We sincerely apologize for the impact this has on the start of your cruise holiday.

The Officers and Crew of Caribbean Princess look forward to welcoming you onboard.
