  1. On NCL the doors are on the blank wall across from the bed and next to the closet, at least that was where it was on the Pride of America. But I'm a little concerned about our January b2b on the Jewel. Our cabin will have a connecting door with strangers next to us. I'm a little concerned about noise.

  2. I think it was just me. We specified we wanted side-by-side cabins. We also cruise a lot with NCL and their ships often have inside doors between cabins and I must have just assumed that we could get the same thing on Princess.

So please go back to your regularly scheduled programs and excuse the ravings of this senior citizen.

  3. Unless the deck plans are wrong, what were supposed to be connecting cabins (A-530 & 534) for our Christmas cruise on the Caribbean Princess aren't.

I previously told my granddaughter that they were and she was so excited.

Not sure if our TA messed it up or Princess steered her wrong. Either way it won't ruin our cruise, but it sure would have been nicer.

Now if she just keeps to her schedule ...

  4. Looks about 2 or 3 blocks to a Denny's. Should have no safety problems in daylight or early evening. Sunset will be soon after 5 PM at this time of year.

How sweet of you to look that up, but I had checked out nearby places before we booked. Our last cruise with the extended family my dear husband booked a hotel almost a mile from the nearest restaurants. I had to walk uphill both ways. LOL Seemed like it anyway.

  5. On our last cruise there was a family of seven in the three cabins adjoining us. The parents often left the children there alone in the evening. A couple times it sounded like a riot was going on. Slamming doors and crashing into the walls was common. But fortunately the noise would stop whenever the parents returned so at least we had peaceful nights.

Every time I see a post about parents planning to move their children into a single cabin I cringe. Even just across the hall could be a nightmare for their neighbors if they acted anything like these brats.

The only other really noisy neighbors we had were a group of 20-somethings in two cabins, a balcony and an inside across the hall. These guys did NOT know how to shut a door, balcony or otherwise without slamming them. And of course the balcony cabin right next door was party central until the wee hours.

  6. I think I would be so panicky I wouldn't be able to function.

I've always wondered how you would make reservations on such short notice. At least you could do it from home. My nightmare would be standing on an empty dock in a strange city and wondering what to do next.

We always go in a day early, but twice now missed a connection where we still didn't make it to the ship until sailing day. We once got to the ship on Barbados 45 minutes before sailing time.

  7. We, too, find the casinos on ALL cruise ships regardless of the cruise line to be much tighter. But you do see some winners, so maybe we just don't choose wisely.

One observation puzzles me. According to what I've read, video poker machines in land based casinos are supposed to be totally random. Just like shuffling a deck of real cards. But while I do ok otherwise, on ships I cannot get decent hands ever.
