  1. I always turn down the custard zap. It's a horrible ,watery, strange, dark yellow gloop that bears no resemblence to custard at all. Avril
  2. Well good morning everyone at last. I think I had an attack of the CC gremlins yesterday, or maybe it was just the laptop having a sulk. The last post I saw was Phil's picture of the baby and the puppy at 11.45pm Sunday. Not one post at all yesterday and suddenly, there you all are🤔. I thought I'd been sent to Coventry😁 Avril
  3. Strictly Come Dancing is not something we watch, however it looks to have been a fantastic evening, and the upgrade was the cherry on top. I'm pleased you had a wonderful evening Sue and enjoy the rest of your well deserved break together. Avril
  4. I haven't see the new version of Mrs Harris Goes to Paris, but I did watch the early '90's Mrs 'Arris Goes to Paris starring the wonderful Angela Lansbury, she was a fantastic character actress. Avril
  5. You've every right to be optimistic Jane. The hand to mouth action and the nicotine is all you need. Frank says 'If you've come this far without wanting and/or thinking about a cigarette then you're almost there. Come March 2nd we'll celebrate together, your first 6 weeks as a non-smoker and my 4 years. Well done Jane, you should feel proud of yourself'. Avril
  6. @Beckett I'm glad the 'tooting' is going well, I had been wondering but was waiting for you to mention it. Frank didn't like me keep asking how he was doing at first, he said it annoyed him, so I thought I'd err on the side of caution with you. March 2nd it will be 4 years for him without even one thought about a cigarette after the first day. Keep it up Jane. Avril
  7. It doesn't, that's the best way to ruin a good breakfast Phil😬 Now a nice crispy slice of fried bread however...........🤭 Avril
  8. Yes, it's more comfortable and much easier to put on. Fiddling with arm cuff put my BP up before I even started😏 Is your BP any better now you're doing them yourself at home? Avril
  9. I do my BP checks at home. The practice nurse phones me later for the numbers and says either yay or nay. It's working well for me as the numbers are fine when at home, it's only when I'm at the surgery that the BP monitor explodes.😡 Avril
  10. Congatulations Michelle and also to your daughter. Avril
  11. It's not the NHS staff Josy, they are wonderful people. My grandaughter is a nurse at Pinderfield's Hospital in Wakefield and I know how hard they work. The money given to the hospitals is being 'directed to the wrong areas' instead of into the actual departments that are struggling. Our NHS is now fast becoming an American style business, and as such the staff and patients are the last to benefit. All obviously my own opinion of course. Avril
  12. Not just GP practices Harry. Imho, a similar issue is the cause of this whole NHS fiasco. All problems begin at the top and filter down. Bring back the Matrons. Avril
  13. Our practice has this service for booking and/or cancelling appointments, but only for non-urgent cases. If you need to see the doctor immediately then we have to phone after 8am that morning. It seems to be normal now for most practices. I don't know if it's my imagination or not, but it wasn't like this pre 2019. Gone are the days when you could simply turn up and wait to be seen. Avril
  14. @SarahHben I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad's misfortune during their cruise. I hope there is some way he can recoup at least some of his money. It isn't easy any longer to be able to trust people. I hope your mum isn't too poorly and recovers quickly. Avril
  15. Looks lovely kalos. Food doesn't have to be boring and tasteless to be healthy. Avril
  16. Frank had that years ago. His dentist packed it with antiseptic gauze until the cavity closed. He had to go back a couple of times for him to check it and renew the gauze, but it healed quickly with no problem. It didn't stop him eating, but I don't thing anything can😉 Avril
  17. Mum would tell me that too. I was 10 before I realised that I didn't want hairs on my chest. Luckily I stopped in time before the effects began😊 Sis
  18. We left school at 15 too and straight into work. I think that's the reason we were more mature than the 17 and 19 year olds today as they are still 'in school' so to speak. We met each other 70 years ago and have been together ever since. Avril
  19. @P&O SUE I hope your mum and dad's health improves soon. It is very hard to care for ailing parents as well as coping with everyday things . I hope you have someone to help share the load and that your some work is being more considerate about time off. Take some time for yourself too Sue and try to relax a little, it's really important. Please take care. x Avril
  20. Good morning, and thank you all for your good wishes on our anniversary. We are having a small family dinner tonight, other than that, it will be a quiet relaxing day. We've never liked a lot of fuss. We celebrated our Silver anniversary in Penang and our Golden was just the two of us again on Oceana. Our children were determined to to have a family dinner for every one after that. Take care everyone and enjoy your weekend. x Avril
  21. Hmm, maybe they're not the 'innocent' Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep you're expecting Sue😉😁 Avril
  22. I have some pictures, they were taken by a Frank's brother, we couldn't afford a photographer. The photo sizes then were about 4''x5'' I think, and the quality isn't very good. I'll have a word with my grandson and see if he can do something with them. 🤞 Avril
  23. I understand this feeling old. It's our 58th wedding anniversary tomorrow, and we've been reminiscing today over lunch. January 28th 1965 ankle deep in snow and freezing cold. A Registry Office wedding was all we could afford, the marriage licence was the princely sum of 7s - 6p. We were very young, I was 17 and Frank was 19, and his mum said we wouldn't last 6 month😏. To be honest we've had some rough moments, but I think it made the marriage stronger. Fast forward 58 years and we're still here, financially secure and just as much in love as ever. I do regret one thing though.........not finding cruising sooner.😁 Avril
