I’m on my cruise now, it’s my first. We ended up having more than one idea floated as a meet up. I showed up to both but was late to the first and couldn’t find anyone. Met up with others though and it was great! I just asked in our roll call and that’s what started the conversation. We,ve also met other people just by chance and are having a blast making new friends!

How do you access the butler chat? I’m onboard the Edge right now and would love to use that!

Ok! We are onboard. We got to our room relatively early to drop off our bags (around 10:45-11) and ran into our butler while we were getting there. He was just placing keys. We saw an upside down lounger on our balcony with the chairs and mini table (they were cleaning it). I requested that the lounger be left for us to use during our cruise. He said “sure” and “thanks for telling me”. We only have one but that’s better than none! In other news, some of our pre requested things were here and others not. We got lots of hangers (as requested) but no body pillow. Priority embarkation was a joke. No one paid attention to the fact that we are in the retreat. We got on quickly regardless so, no biggie I spose.

I’ll check tomorrow on the Edge. Can’t believe I’m less than 24 hours away from embarkation!

I googled “Cruise line agencies of Alaska”. As instructed in another post here.

We are going on our Alaskan cruise next week and we chose Celebrity even though it doesn’t go to Glacier Bay. In lieu of that we have booked an excursion that goes to Taku Glacier. Getting to be up close and personal with a glacier more than makes up for it in my opinion. However, if we go to Alaska again, I would choose an itinerary that includes it.

I just looked up how many ships will be in port(s) with us next week in Alaska. In Ketchikan there will be 7 ships in port on Sunday, In Juneau on Monday there will be 5, and 4 will be in Skagway on Tuesday. Is this normally how many there are? I’ve heard mention that 4 is a lot…. Will we even be able to do anything with that many people?

I suspect it’s multi purpose. For one thing, they are expensive to replace and as was also mentioned, we don’t spend money when we are lounging on our balconies.

Also, keep in mind if you purchase a package you can’t reserve until you are onboard, which is a distinct disadvantage as things can get booked up on a full ship.

I would have cleaned it myself and tipped myself handsomely for it (out of the extra tip set aside for the steward)

At this point it isn’t one thing. It’s been one thing after another since we booked our first cruise a year ago. The butler fiasco, the new up charges in the dining room, the increase in prices and decrease in selection on the drink packages, the increased prices and eliminating tips and OBC for most suites, and the list goes on. have other cruise lines been making so many negative changes too? I really don’t know. I threw my lot in with Celebrity and haven’t really been paying attention elsewhere.

How do you request in advance? I plan to request them if they are not there next week. HUGE part of our balcony experience!

We are booked for the White Pass Railway and Klondike Highway Journey next week. I can let you know what we thought of it after we go.

Were (are) loungers on the magic carpet suite balconies? Just wondering what to ask for on my upcoming cruise.

Me too, and she left a message and followed up with an email telling me she had left a message. No where did she address my concerns though. Not until I spoke with her directly. I’m guessing they are careful about what they put in writing.

Was the comedian any good? I love stand up comedy shows.

People bring and hide rubber ducks for others to find. It’s a big thing on some ships, and I believe, is now happening on most sailings to one degree or another. in fact, we will be bringing a few on our upcoming sailing. 🤪

The edge

I have, and it shows one show on day 2 and a different show on day 6, and that’s it.

Our cruise is in a week so I was looking on the app at the entertainment and it only showed theatre shows on the two sea days. Is that normally how often there are theatre shows? Not sure why, but I was under the impression there were shows every night in the theatre.
