Thank you for your response. It had been bothering me so I called my travel agent and did one upgrade so we are on deck 4.
The one report on cabin 3055 said the noise was so bad - late night and early morning rehearsals - that they believed that cabin should only be used for performers. We changed our cabin to deck 3 aft.
Deck 4 has the advantage of being between two passenger decks, so you should be good!

Interesting. I wonder why. We have 3017 for Alaska cruise next year. Hope it’s okay.
There were only a couple of cabins that were noted as being problems - 3053, 3055, and 3057. 3017 is forward so it's away from Torshavn.

I had 3022 twice. No noise from Torshavn. We could hear the band rehearsing. But we weren’t bothered by it. We have 3022 booked in our next cruise.
The noise comments I saw were specifically about the cabins on the starboard side - the odd numbers.

I read that if you are on deck 3 you hear the band noise and wonder if anyone else has experienced this--our room is on deck 3.
Our original Viking cruise (now canceled) had us in 3055. I searched on that cabin number and found multiple reports of late night noise from the nightclub. The problem was only reported on cabins close to Torshavn, not all of deck 3.

So I was born and identified as a female and as i have no issues with being a female that classifies me as a cisgender?
Yes! For comparison, you've probably heard of trans-gender. Transgender can have several meanings, but the most common is the opposite of cisgender - someone who identifies differently from their birth sex.

Sorry but what is a cisgender?
It's when a person's sense of personal identity and gender corresponds to their birth sex.

I started that thread so long ago - hope it's still current! But probably the basic things haven't changed much. I still recommend taking a lanyard, realizing that ocean ships are different than river ships, making your Manfredi reservations as soon as possible, not forgetting to at least try World Cafe and Mamsen's, etc. And there's my favorite place at sailaway if other places are crowded - back of the ship on 2!
Roothy
Thanks for starting that thread - it's great!

Check out this Viking Daily Day 1 from the 6/26/2021 Iceland cruise. Most of the events on the schedule are musical, or spa tours, although there is one port talk - starting port of Reykjavik.

We rarely do room service but we had a very early dinner one night and none of the desserts appealed to us. So after being back in the room we ordered some. Mike doesn’t have a sweet tooth like me so he ordered the pear and Prosciutto appetizer and I got the apple pie. Both were delicious and have been added to my ongoing list of Viking foods I suggest to newbies. (Breakfast lamb chops anyone?😂)
Oh, we have never had a special occasion onboard before but we celebrated Mike’s Mom’s birthday this trip. The cake they brought to dinner at The Chef’s Table was probably the best cake we’ve had onboard. Methinks we will always have a celebration of some sort on future cruises! 🤫
I watched a UK only cruiser's vlog of his 10 favorite Viking foods. The apple pie made the top ten. Manfredi's carbonara and panna cotta were also on that list. My list of foods and drinks to try is growing so I'm glad our cruise is 14 days long! 🙂 Lamb chops and pistachio bun are on the list too.

Starting with the Sun and on all ships after her, drawers were added to the closet to provide more storage in the V and the DV cabins. Also starting with the Sun, a noodle bar (omelet station) was added on the end of the World Café. The newer ships also have expanded fitness centers.

I haven't ticked and tied them all out to be sure, but it seems as if all the bar menus are the same?
Mamsen's and Torshavn seem to have some unique offerings - Armagna and some cocktails..
-
Wow - I'd heard that some of the Armagnacs were pricey, but I had no idea! I also didn't realize that Mamsen's had a bar in addition to the Explorer's bar.

Viking offered a gin tasting on one of the Venus' UK only cruises. Were there any tastings available on the Iceland cruises?

Hi there, I'm planning to take Viking's San Juan to Barcelona cruise within two years. Would appreciate any advice as to the quietest cabin(s). Sorry, but I don't know the name of the ship(s) (looked it up on Viking's site but couldn't tell). Thanks!
Our initial cabin assignment on our first Viking cruise was 3055. I searched for info on that cabin and found numerous warnings about avoiding that cabin and ones near it because of Torshavn noise.
Here's another post about cabin locations to avoid:Good luck!

I thought so but at the bottom of the page of teas it said all prices include gratuity--so I thought there might be a price!
That's for the alcohol - you don't have to worry about tipping on drinks since it's already included.
-
Thanks! I've never seen the Wintergarden bar menu before. Is this menu available during tea?
-
4 minutes ago, basenji56 said:
Do they charge for the teas?
Nope - the entire Wintergarden tea is complimentary so it includes the sandwiches, pastries, scones, and tea. The alcohol is extra.

Does anyone know what the additional charge is for Viking Air should you wish to extend your stay in a city at cruise conclusion?
Air deviation - $100/passenger - is charged if you arrive early or stay later and are using Viking Air.

We cruise Bermuda next week. I did try opening this info as we cruise Iceland late August, but did struggle with accessing the pages.
It's much easier if you access this on a computer. Click on the link above and then double click on one of the days - Day 2, Day 3, etc. Then double click on one of the screenshots that looks like a schedule and you'll see the times for various activities and entertainment.

Does anyone have an idea about what food might be served on the California theme night at Chefs table? I am not sure what food would be representative of California. 🤔Thanks in advance

We would likely be in the lowest stateroom category on both ocean and river ships which means being last on the list to make reservations for shore excursions and dining reservations.
Be aware that the lowest priced cabins on the River cruises are on the lowest deck and have no elevator access, so you must use stairs.
-
Go to the Viking Ocean cruises page and click on any cruise - for example -
West Indies to Iberia Ocean Cruise Overview | Viking (vikingcruises.com)
Make sure that itinerary is highlighted and then select "Read More" for any port (Choose Valencia for the cruise above). The first shore excursion is the "Included" one. Click on the shore excursion for more information, such as duration, activity level, and specifics about what you see. Note that these excursions are subject to change, especially in these times. Although the final excursions may change, you'll at least be able to see a sampling of what was offered in the past.
