For those recently/now on Orion - another question:
What time did you do the saliva test in the morning?
They say you can't even have coffee until it is done. Did they come early? leave it outside the door?
I watched a video from one of the UK cruises that showed the tubes being left in your stateroom. They didn't specifically say this, but I think they are collected each morning and new tubes left for the next day so you can test whenever you wish.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry for additional post, but I just want to make sure I'm clear. There is a liquid hand soap dispenser next to the bathroom SINK containing the body wash, correct? (I just want to clarify that is not found solely in the shower.)
I just watched a Viking Venus cabin tour from one of the UK only cruises and could plainly see BAR soap at the sink.

Just my thoughts on the drinks package from my Viking Venus cruise last week.
Thanks for another great video and a straightforward way to determine if it's the right choice for you.

I don't think that Bermuda is a good location to cruise out of.
Just saw this message on another group. Everyone on the plane has been put in quarantine at their own expense for 14 days.
"I just read a post on another travel page that a couple who arrived in Bermuda yesterday received a call today that a passenger on their flight tested positive for Covid upon arrival, so all passengers on that flight are being required to quarantine by the Bermuda Health Department. This couple stated that they are fully vaccinated, wore masks the entire travel day & had negative Covid testing upon arrival."
Yes, Bermuda DID quarantine everyone on a specific flight, but that occurred from an October 27th, 2020 flight.

Is PCR testing (a US requirement) offered to passengers onboard Viking ships operating in Iceland, allowing them to proceed directly from the ship to the airport?
All Viking Ocean cruise ships have a COVID test lab. According to Viking's Health and Safety documentation, the labs use PCR testing.

I started the process but called it quits at step one because of the required picture; you can't get past step one without it. I don't have a digital photo of either of us that fits the bill. I'll just handle it all on the dock -- photos, credit card and all.
I read a post from one of the UK only cruisers who said the comfort check-in will walk you through taking a photo so you don't need to have one saved.

Phil - that's a great web site! Thanks! It has tons of photos and shows the differences between all of the cabin categories.

Just realized I failed to attach photos as promised. Here they are-before & after, and my favorite breakfast-grilled chops and a pistachio raisin bun
I love your idea of putting the table in the back corner for more room and also noticed that you travel with Lady and the Tramp? 🙂

Doubt that’s where we saw it. It was on one of his YouTubes I suspect (we cut the cord long ago). Seems like it was an advice on traveling segment...not on a particular place. But it was long ago so I could be completely wrong 🤪
He has many general travel topic videos on his web site - packing light, using transportation, staying safe, etc. I saw the laundry tip in his packing light topic.

I didn't see Mamsen's on the deck plan. Has it been folded into Viking Dells?
It's labeled as Viking Deli on the deck plan.

I called the Viking Air Plus phone number today and have been on hold over an hour. Is there a secondary number to call? Or a better time of day? Very discouraging. Any tips?
I had my TA have the Air Plus conversation with Viking.

I think Jupiter was actually in northern Germany a day or two when I looked, according to Marine Traffic. But in any case, you've answered my question about the webcam. I was thinking the webcam referenced above was actually on Jupiter. But perhaps Viking just links to a webcam when they can or when they want to. Or something like that....
Here's a list of all of the Viking ships that have webcams (don't worry about the "Attack of the 50 Ft. Tiki" title. It says no webcam for Venus, hut the site was not updated after Venus' launch.

Actually, this wasn’t “Viking” this was that crew member. I was hashtagging the ship and he caught it that way. But as you said, above and beyond!
Several people (Clay?) also gave me some great strategies for "Tea Days." Find an evening when there's nothing special on the dinner menu, have a big late breakfast and no lunch, have tea, then go to the World Café for a late dinner or get a late Chef's Table reservation.

I mentioned it in my blog/Instagram post and the next day, the Asst Manager in charge of tea stopped me and said he had seen the post. He wanted me to know that they had supply issues in Asia but he had some clotted cream available and to be sure to ask for it next time we attended tea.
Wow - I knew Viking read CC posts, but to read and respond to posts on the same cruise and then remedy the issue is going above and beyond.
I've looked at several of the Viking Dailies and tea doesn't seem to be scheduled on embarkation day.

I'm not worried about it as far as fashion police - just kind of wondering what people were thinking. I'll no doubt go with something in between. Just curious
I asked the question about the onboard temperature and heard from many that it runs a little warm, except for being colder in the theater. Of course everyone's comfortable temperature is a little different. I've watched many Viking videos on You Tube and usually see short sleeves with some people wearing a light sweater.

I always bring hiking poles. I am a hiker, cross country skier, outdoorsy person from way way back. Unfortunately at 70 I am less steady on my feet, need a railing for up/down stairs, and must watch my step over rocky, rubble, uneven and cobble paths. My sticks keep me going. They are tri-fold, swiftly pop into place if needed and can hang by straps around my wrist when not.
What brand are your poles? I have hiking poles but they don't easily fold. I have the same issues - some balance issues plus I need a railing for stairs too.

That would be nice. Maybe a note(s) to tellus@vikingcruises.com would get the ball rolling if they don't already have it.
I emailed Tellus about the question about wine lists in the Viking App and received this reply:
"While our Viking Voyager app does not feature wine lists at this time, we have made note of your interest for future consideration, and upon embarkation, welcome you to reach out to a crew member, who would be happy to assist you in locating a wine list."
So, maybe in the future.

Couple of questions for 1st time Viking for Iceland -
-do you need reservations for the "Kitchen Table", if so, on board? And what exactly is it.
-for the Spa, do people wear their bathing suits from staterooms to the spa, or is it customary to change in the locker room?
-if you are doing a back to back, how do you get your belongings from one room to another? Do you have to leave the ship to zero it out?
-is the infinity pool heated in colder cruises?
Thank you in advance!
The Kitchen Table is treated as an excursion, so you would reserve it as you would other excursions.
I think the Infinity Pool is always heated.

Has anyone heard a Viking rep say “you know, I’m not sure about that, let me research it and get back with you.”? And did they call back with an accurate answer?
I did! I emailed Tellus and asked how they would work dining at the World Café. I received a phone call but the rep didn't specifically know whether you would still visit the buffet and then be served by the dining staff. The next day I received another call and she'd double-checked and learned that the buffet would still exist, but be staff served.

Finally, I read on one of these forums that 45 minute reservations will be required to utilize the spa. Any idea how to book?
One of the UK cruisers answered this question - book at the spa desk.
