Quite frankly, on pre-COVID cruises, when we wanted to have a more quiet meal after a long day of excursions, we asked the person seating us if we could have a table for 2 separate from anyone and if it was not rush hour they were happy to do so.  Just speak up!

Thanks for the ideas to get a more private table.  I just wouldn't have thought to ask for a table that was more separate.  🙂

I also like the idea of coming early or late and asking for a window table.

    Hi Jeri -

Other than Bermuda, our cruises were all in the 900's.  We never had an issue going to walk up to the Restaurant, except as Lorna says.   Pretty much anytime up to 6:45 to 7:00 was pretty easy.  There has usually been a huge contingent that congregates in the 1st floor bar area to listen to music and have cocktails.  They seemed to generally head out to dinner around 7:00.  Pre-COVID people would gather in the long entry way and hallway at the Restaurant queued up (maybe 50-70 people?) but likely not now.

In any case, as long as you go not at rush hour you'll have no problems.  We'll probably see you there!

Do you know if they've removed any tables from The Restaurant to allow for more spacing?  I'm wondering about the tables for two that look like they're closer than 6 feet apart triggering the contact tracing devices if your dining neighbor tested positive.

Jerry - my guess would be similar to Jim, supply & demand economics. Just checked on progress and the Owner's Suite is already sold.

Wow - Owner's Suite is $180,000/person!  And the Neptune's World Cruise has everything PJS and above sold out.

JeriGail on our Sky sailing we were told 870 passengers.  We didn't need the Restaurant reservations we made.  But the 7-7:15 dinner time was too crowded for us even if we didn't have to wait.  So we would go to the usually empty WC or arrive at the Restaurant at 5:30.  There would be a line to get in since it just opened but we would get a window table that was spaced away from other twos.

Thanks, Lorna!  870 sounds close enough to what we'll have on the Sea, so I can apply your strategy in November.  We usually eat earlier anyway, so 5:30 would work for us.

Walk-in.  No reservations needed for The Restaurant on Sky this week.

Do you know the approximate number of passengers on your cruise?  I'm scheduled on the Sea for a TA that is sold out, so I'm wondering if walk-in availability will be more difficult.

  6. All of The Viking cabins have many outlets and USB ports, so a power strip or extension cord is not needed.  Each side of the bed has a US and Euro outlet (hence no need for an extension cord for a CPAP) plus 1 high power and 1 low power USB.  There are also multiple outlets at the desk plus 5 (I think) USB outlets on the lamp.

lots and lots of sea days -- that's why! don't have nearly as many included shore excursions! 🙃

I love sea days - that's why I'm currently on the Sea's Barcelona to San Juan cruise in November, but this would be the closest I could probably get to a world cruise.  🙂

Et voila!!! Just checked the VO site - the new cruises are there. Will update the sheet accordingly. The name I picked for the Panama Canal transit cruise was completely wrong!  Whoops! But what did I know? Honestly the cruises were not on the web site 3 hrs ago. My email to customer relations must have lit a fire under somebody. 😁

The Grand Hawaii and Polynesia cruise is a great bargain - 33 days for $7,499!

The LA-LA with Hawaii and Tahiti is 32 nights departing Jan. 5 2022.

DV cabins starting at $7499 with free air from major US gateways.

We will probably book.~20 sea days.

The Panama Canal cruise is 17 nights at $6499, so another 15 nights for $1,000 is a great deal!

I am not concerned in any way by the requirement. I just have not seen this requirement on our previous Viking Ocean Cruises. We always clean up and change for dinner. But from earlier threads, it looks like no denim breakfast or lunch?? that’s where I am confused.

It's only dinner that has the no jeans requirement in the Restaurant, Manfredi's, or Chef's Table.

Still trying to figure out why none listed for Rome, maybe because we are picking up and dropping off passengers on that day.

Because one cruise ends in Rome and another cruise begins there the same day, there is not a full day available for excursions.  If there was an overnight in Rome, then you would probably see excursions.

I tried contacting the AIR PLUS CUSTOMER SERVICE number but received a recorded message that stated I should return the call within 60 days of our departure.

My flights changed too, so I ran another search to find new flights that I liked better.  I am also further out than the 60 days, but my TA was able to talk to an Air Plus agent and get our flights changed.

Find new flights, call Air Plus, and wait for an agent to help you.

where does it say that we can't wear a sleeveless dress to dinner?  I am only bringing sleeveless dresses!

It doesn't!  The "no sleeveless" might apply to excursions that visit religious sites:

"Some shore excursions visit religious sites that require modesty of dress. To avoid being denied entry, we recommend men wear long pants and refrain from sleeveless shirts; and for women, clothing that covers the knees and tops that are not sleeveless or too revealing."

this is just a test .. but the weirdest thing is going on -- I've submitted three replies on this thread .. .. and none of them have appeared.

I've had the same problem happen to me when posting on our Viking Sea Roll Call.  At the time I was writing the post, I received a notification about someone else replying, and clicked on the show new post button.  I wonder if that caused the issue?

Yes, we had planned a week post cruise in Malta to cover the old amber regulations for quarantine, when things changed, and since we were enjoying our Viking Sea experience so much we decided to cancel our hotel, rearrange the flights and stay on board for the next one 😎

Would you be able to post a photo of the officers on the Sea?  I'm wondering who's onboard.
