I have not sailed HAL but my husband and I love Celebrity because it's not boring but it's not kid filled and crazy either. We are 68 and 74. We usually sail newer ships and like the Edge class. We also like the Solstice class but not all of them are in the best shape. The reason being Covid delayed the dry dock schedule. Good luck on your journey.
I have seen men turned away at dinner for wearing shorts. I have also seen a man told he had to change his shirt before entering Luminea ( suites dining room). It was a sleeveless T-shirt. Sport coat not needed.
We did RC for years but as we aged (now 68 and 75) we switched to Celebrity. Won't go back to RC for a few reasons.
Food for us better on Celebrity. Fewer children. The large size of new RC ships no longer appeals to us. A more adult like atmosphere.
You should just try Celebrity and judge for yourself.
Our November cruise is now going to Grand Turk instead of Labadee. We have never been here, is there anything of interest there or what are good excursions? Thanks for any info! I will be doing a search on it also.
We travel with 1 or 2 other couples. When making restaurant reservations we all do our own reservations for the same night and time. When we get onboard we go to the restaurant and ask them to put us all together. Never have had an issue.
The Celebrity Beyond has a USB plug on one side of the bed, and a large power outlet station on the "desk" with outlets for both U.S. and European chargers, as well as USBs. The "non window" side of the bed also has one electrical outlet, plus two USB ports.
Years ago my husband's back went out and we were in our cabin. He couldn't move. We called medical and within minutes they were in our balcony cabin with a wheel chair and transported him to the medical facility. The service and care was amazing. I can't imagine anything less from them.
I like the S class ships, but because of Covid many have not been in dry dock and the furnishings need to be replaced! That's what I meant about old and ragged! Luckily everyone does not like the same things!
For the last few cruises on Edge class ships we have had the same time and table for 6 of us. The first night for dinner we showed up at Normandy, told them what we wanted and they said no problem. We show up at 5:15/5:30 and just go to our table.
I am 69, I look and feel 60 and I have done 45 cruises. I love things old and new. In the past we have loved all the celebrity ships but new things appeal to me more than old and ragged.
We love the Edge class ships. The hall to Eden in my opinion is not an issue. Each ship has this area decorated differently and we enjoy walking thru it. We love everything about these ships and will be on Beyond for a 3rd time in November.
So to those reading reviews here, do so with one eye closed. What one person dislikes another may love! Cruise on everyone
We have sailed Beyond and will again in November. We had no issues with our cabin. We enjoyed it and agree with the buffet, food always cold. We look forward to our next cruise on her. Just did Ascent and loved it. Happy cruising.
