  1. I was on this cruise in October! We were in a Havana aft balcony. We loved hanging out by the Havana pool. I also went diving in Grand Cayman, great experience. If you haven’t been to Dunn’s River in Jamaica (and are in decent shape), there is one excursion that takes you there via catamaran instead of a bus on narrow roads. You get on the catamaran right outside the port. It’s billed as a party cruise but it’s not really that crazy. As per normal, no booze is brought out until the ride home and despite what I read in some of the reviews, there was no pressure to partake in the alcohol (too early for me!) I’m headed to Falmouth in March and wish they had a similar excursion with the catamaran as the transportation. Will probably just stay in the port area.
  2. They also required my husband wear closed toe shoes. Has wearing nice Birkenstocks and had to go back to the room, and put on sneakers! The Birks looked nicer, oh well.
  3. I’m going to pile on the Rumors bandwagon! The best show on a cruise for both my husband and me. The line didn’t seem that bad for us but maybe it was new at the time (Breakaway May 2022) and didn’t have the notoriety yet? On another site’s roll call, someone from an earlier cruise chimed in to say what great show it was so I had a heads up. I don’t think we waited in line outside for more than 30 minutes (and we were first in line). The time went quickly once inside because you are basically hanging out at a cool bar. We were front row, on the floor in front of the stage where the performers often sang from. It was fantastic!
  4. I wish you could at least (easily) look at what excursions they offer even if you haven't booked a cruise with that port. I sometimes use that as a deciding factor for deciding on a cruise if ports are the focus (looking at you Falmouth!) Carnival does have reviews on their shore excursions and often have the same tours (or at least same beach/activity location). Plus, you can look them up from their website without having a cruise booked. Sometimes it's nice to read reviews from a cruiser's perspective as other reviews may be from those on a land tour. Just go to the "Explore" tab and look all the way to the right. Hopefully it will give you an idea of what you are looking for. If you see a tour you like but Royal doesn't offer it, you can probably find it to do on your own outside of the ship's excursions.
  5. Eeek! I can't imagine why they would do that. I'd be tempted to put some duct tape over it.
  6. That Chef's Table looked awesome. I did it on Carnival Horizon and Allure of the Seas recently. I thought Carnival's food/presentation was really good, better than Allure's. Yours definitely looked on par or better (depending on actual taste!) than Carnival's.
  7. I think the ship size/age may have had something to do with it. I'm looking at Encore dailies in Alaska (research for a Joy Alaska cruise in 2025) and it seems like a good amount of activity.
  8. I was on Allure last week and I was feeling the same about their 70s party. It was fun and the CD was involved (threw me one of those coveted plastic rings!) but the music was a bit unimaginative. In the beginning they said they would play all 70s, not just disco. All the music was at least Disco adjacent. I kept waiting for some rock!
  9. No, I only met John and very briefly Laura as she was on her way to get pizza. they seem like a fun group. Yes, I think I created a new cruise lover! My husband and I are introducing my sister and niece to cruising on the Oasis so part of this shorter cruise was to scout everything out. I want make sure they become cruise fans too!
  10. Yes, that would have been great. I will say, with such a big ship and 4 days, it was hard to get everything done! Especially since that was my first Royal cruise and I wanted to see everything😁 I really enjoyed it and looking forward to my next one on Oasis next year!
  11. They have a bar they call the Champagne (and Martini) Bar. They should lead with Martini because their Champagne/sparkling list was very small. I love a good martini so no complaints, but there was not much sparkling! I don't remember seeing any canapés but I didn't sit at the bar.
  12. Ours on Allure last week was a champagne cocktail so not as good 😞 I'm a champagne girl and would have preferred it strait!
  13. Wow, some are getting great deals! Not so much for Oasis spring break. I was hoping early March would be a little outside the main spring break cruises but, not so much! Only a little savings on some lunches. I'll keep trying back. Thanks for the heads up Ken!
  14. Just got back from Allure and did the Chef's Table. As mentioned above, it was in the balcony of the Diamond (now something else) lounge. The drinks are included even if you don't have a package. I thought it was pretty good. There was a pinnacle next to me and she said the food was very similar to Coastal Kitchen. While the food was good, I think Chef's Table is often more about the presentation. This was no different. I do enjoy hearing about the process and the intimate dinner setting.
  15. Yay, another live right after my cruise to help me get over my withdrawal! I've never followed a Princess Live (nor sailed them), looking forward to it.
  16. I agree, I was more thinking of my 4 day on Allure starting Monday. Not enough time to try everything so will probably skip that. I will likely prioritize tacos as a snack so hopefully a little better experience then you had!
  17. I think it depends whether they describe why they were disappointed (or elated). Sometimes one person's complaint is another person's preference. I now know I won't get the stir fry because I'm more of a meat stir fry with a few veggies added in! Others may like a more veggie focused stir fry and be more likely to get it now.
  18. I'm scheduled to do this next week. I'll try to remember to come back and let you know!
  19. Shoot! I am on deck 6 next week. I would think only folks under the running track would hear anything. Oh well, I'm not normally a super light sleeper so hope it won't wake me!
  20. I'm on the 4 day next week. You can book all 5 shows (Mama Mia, Aqua, Ice, Comedy, & Blue Planet). It is tough trying to squeeze in everything in 4 days so I opted to not reserve Blue Planet based on the reviews I've seen.
  21. Is the card separate from your ship card? If not, when you buy it, does it automatically go towards your next drink(s) or can you designate which drinks to put on it? Thanks!
  22. Thanks! I'm doing this on Allure next month. It's our only sea day and I have an ambitious schedule, I may have to sip my sake very slowly!
  23. Thanks! We're doing The Key next month (got a good deal - $8 over Voom rate and a 4 day). This relaxing meal was a big reason why! I was already planning on getting Voom since DH will not be with me for the first time on a cruise.
  24. I'm the same! I like this spreadsheet. Mine so far have been horizontal, I need to try this version - especially if I ever go on a cruise longer than 7 days! I also add what other ships will be in port with me 🙂
