  1. I did fjords on Britannia last year and loved it. I seem to remember fridge was cold enough to chill drinks so would keep fresh milk cold. If you bought some on departure day with long sell by date will last a few days.I have done it in the past but don’t think it lasted whole week. Take a small pair of scissors if you are allowed to use for opening up the UHT milk sachets they provide in the cabin. I always do. Tips is up to you. Very contentious. Some do tip cabin steward and waiters if have had fixed dining, others don’t. Just do whatever you feel comfortable with.
  2. Yes you can’t use OBC for either the casino/ bingo or paying towards any bills from Medical Centre.
  3. Should be 135$ for each sector.
  4. Refundable deposits are a U S scheme. U K pricing is the price you book at and it doesn’t change however many other offers come along. You can cancel, loose your deposit and rebook if the new price is so attractive to make that worth while. In U K you can also only, on a Cunard fare, move your booking once to a cruise of equal or greater value to be taken within 12 months of original sailing date. Unfortunately US customers do seem to get more flexible T and C s then we get in U K
  5. Thank you for this link I was not aware of this change. Reading the FAQs you will not be transferred over to the new scheme until any upgrades you have expire. Mine expire in October so perhaps that’s why I have not heard. Can’t find the prices for the cruise cover under the new scheme.
  6. The cruise can only be moved once. New cruise must depart within 12 months of the original sail date and must be of equal or greater value. Only applies as you say to Select fares.
  7. Currently no 1 on a waitlist but don’t hold out much hope. Must admit I haven’t checked lately. Will renew efforts nearer to final payment date. Have been offered something before from wait list but didn’t take it as I had booked something else.
  8. I think it’s reasonable given the circumstances and I don’t think they are not likely to increase it.
  9. Sorry I very much doubt if the powers that be at Carnival U K and Carnival Corp are reading C C and taking a steer from the comments on here.
  10. Why should the people who are booked on the 28th April miss out too? Whenever you book a cruise there is always a gamble the itinerary could change. Cunard are not responsible for World events and are taking the safest option.
  11. I do too very useful for opening the sachets without drama.
  12. I am sure you can only get free room service tea, coffee or hot chocolate at breakfast times.
  13. My daughter visited all those ports last year on Cunard and loved it. No cancellations or stops.
  14. I can’t imagine they would not want to be late back to Southampton and disrupt subsequent crossings. As others have said going straight from Colombo would work.
  15. There are also twice daily solo meets up. I have never been but you will find people to socialise with and play other games . They have 2 corridors with fabulous sea views and tables set out with all sorts of interesting board games and jigsaws too. Definitely you can ask to be on a table with others. I prefer to eat alone so always have a table for one by myself.
  16. That is my understanding too. The drink is discounted by 20% but the service charge is still payable. The only time the service charge is not applied is for drinks that are fully included in the drinks package. A drink package is not likely to be a cost effective option if you are then frequently paying for other drinks outside of the package. Also remember that on 3 and 4 night sailings the daily rate is more expensive.
  17. When you have it for room service breakfast it just comes in a silver pot. You pour it yourself. There are no extras. As I said before hot chocolate from the late night buffet is just make it yourself with the instant sachets and hot water. I am not sure the bar menu is available as room service. I would imagine you would just get it in a pot ? I have it regularly as a pre breakfast item but don’t do room service during the day.
  18. It will be the US. This ban is imposed on all cruise lines regardless of the nationality of the crew member. This is not new news/ information for the crew and they will have been aware of the restrictions the U S place on crew shore leave. The cruise line can impose restrictions on shore leave. but it’s usually for other reasons.
  19. Happy to explain the M and S ordering system for anyone who would like information how it could work for them.
  20. Depends on the T and C’s of your booking. For U K bookings you can only move your non refundable deposit once and then only to a cruise of equal or higher value.to be taken within 12 months. If you cancel a subsequent booking you will loose your deposit. The new booking will have whatever offers are applicable for the new booking. My SIL only these week needed to move a rebooked cruise but had to loose his deposit. After final payment date cancellation charges apply on a sliding scale starting at 50% and eventually becoming 100%. Your best bet is to ring Cunard as Australian T &C’s may be more favourable.
  21. A free lunch at the Verandah restaurant is a perk of being a Diamond member ( the highest tier ) of the World Club loyalty programme.
  22. He will need a jacket as well as what you have suggested. You can eat at the buffet or room service any night. As for rental I think you just enquire at the shop selling clothes and other merchandise. I have seen men trying jackets and shirts on on gala nights. No idea about the cost .
  23. There are sachets available in the buffet but there is none provided in the room. I don’t really like the brand Galaxy - Options ones available so I take my own Cadbury ones.
  24. My daughter has never had any problem getting fresh lactose free milk in Britannia restaurant at Breakfast. It even came in a sweet little glass bottle. In November on QM2.Also during afternoon tea in Queens Room. She had to wait a few minutes but she didn’t mind.
