Cover charge for Sabatinis on Diamond on Australian cruises
robncruise replied to lorri111's topic in Princess Cruises
I was on Royal Princess in Jan. and Sabatinis was $58 AUD and Crown Grill was $63 AUD. I believe this included the 18% gratuity whereas the us quoted prices usually do not -
Hello Rafael and Debbie I met you at the port gate today and just watching you sailaway. Request for a Cruise Meal Box for Excursions
robncruise replied to akaCruiser's topic in Princess Cruises
NZ cruises are saturated with warnings about taking food ashore - and all the fruit in the buffet is cut up so passengers are less likely to take a banana apple or orange off the ship. I have seen customs officers with dogs on the ship at some port stops. My last cruise they announced that only unopened commercially bottled water, commercially packaged biscuits ( not american style biscuits )and chocolates could be taken ashore. If you are flying in you have to declare any food so was surprised the ship stated these are allowed, -
Princess Cruise Casino Comps While Onboard Questions ?
robncruise replied to WoolworthAdventures's topic in Princess Cruises
Have not received any Come Back Offers on my Australian/NZ . Never bothered to ask why because they were next to useless anyway - required to book within a month , sail within six months in NZ/ Aust.- had a choice of three cruises that were eligible to meet the criteria- given no sailings in the region during winter here !! Nor did I get an offer on my Japan sailing on the Diamond last year. The Casino host said they were not offering them on that ship/ itinerary. -
Back on the Grand, Mar 10 - 17
robncruise replied to Yaya_in_Oz's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Off topic but looks like Princess down under didn't get the memo. The new Sun Princess has reverted to calling the "Princess Events Listing" The Patter. Interestingly this was discussed at our table at the MTP lunch on the Royal in January. All the ships staff consistently referred to checking the Patter for the days events yet the sheet said the Event Listings. Was likely confusing to new Princess cruises = what's this Patter they are talking about. -
All Princess ships cruising in Australia and New Zealand have NO smoking anywhere indoors.
-
Same problem on the Australia /NZ site. Get to choose cabin and error message comes up. I can log into my account and see my booked cruises but cannot book any new cruises
-
Think the $63 is AUD . That was the charge for Crown Grill on Royal Princess NZ cruise last month. And all the bar prices, so presume specialty restaurant prices , include the gratuity/service charge
-
Pretty certain I have always had to show a passport - maybe a Govt issued ID would have been ok. But being from NZ in a foreign country I wouldnt risk not having my passport on me.
-
They will definitely want to see your passports.

I was on standard fare on Royal Princess a couple of weeks ago , Booked in March 2023 well before the announcement in July 2023 of new Ocean Ready charges. And like many was annoyed that previously included benefits were now chargeable. So went to Guest Services armed with paperwork/ screenshots of timelines and requesting the $25 goodwill . Might as well not have bothered - absolute stonewall and not worth having bothered with.

Earlier Flight home from Sydney - Too Risky?
robncruise replied to Muffinz's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Yes EZ air is Princess acting as a travel agent for many of the airlines if you look at any cruise underneath where it says book now it says itinerary, shore excursions, flight quotes . what flights are available in the cruise personaliser. I would recommend you read a up about EZ Air . Sometimes (not often) they are cheaper than direct with the airlines. They have restricted and flexible airfares. Flexible are usually more expensive but the advantage is you dont pay until final payment of the cruise AND you can cancel/ change up to 45 days before departure. There are a no of other benefits too. -
Earlier Flight home from Sydney - Too Risky?
robncruise replied to Muffinz's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Why not check out Princess EZAir. They show flights Sydney - Akld from as early as 9.30 am for a cruise arriving in Sydney on 26 Dec. The beauty of using EZ Air is if the ship is late arriving Princess will reschedule flights for you. Also their transfer from OPT to the airport at 29AUD is quite reasonable for singles/ couples . -
Loyalty obviously means nothing to P&O
robncruise replied to pacificlover's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
I was/am referring to a specific cruise I booked last May - Crown Princess 3rd Dec 24. I was able to book a solo cabin in all categories ( and booked a balcony cabin) but now interior, and balcony are not available to book solo but are still available for 2 guests per cabin. Which implies Princess have filled a quota for solos in some cabin categories. -

robncruise replied to pacificlover's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
I have a solo balcony on a Princess cruise booked for Dec. and now solos can only book interior or minisuite, So it varies. Their algorithms must allow for only a certain no of solos in each category just as they monitor the no of children in each age group on board. I guess at the end of the day the ship could not sail with a single in every cabin. Onboard revenue would plummet. -
Oops Sorry - the Christchurch shuttle is still $15 AUD . Brain fog after long hot travel day after disembarkation yesterday !
-
Sorry if this question has already be answered. But to confirm that just this week the shuttle from the ship in Wellington was free - the same as it was the last time I did this itinerary in Feb 2020. Dunedin/ Port Chalmers shuttle is $35 NZD return but public buses are available. Christchurch/Lyttleton - shuttle to Christchurch was $35AUD return . Shuttle to Lyttleton township free.

day luggage storage Auckland
robncruise replied to greyskier's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Disembarked Ryal Princess this am and saw the Luggage Hotel on Princes Wharf. Their website says open Mon - Fri 9.30 - 5 pm ( Open days and times may vary). It was open at 8.40am this am so I would check with them -
I just got off the Royal Princess today. I was on the Auckland - Auckland leg - approx 600 pax. Sydney 3 days later was disembarkation for the majority of passengers and an announcement was made on board by Princess that there was a delay with immigration/customs and the terminal was congested and both disembarking and transit passengers were asked to wait until the backlog was cleared. The ship had to be fully cleared by 10am but even some of the transit passengers couldn't get off before then. I heard that the embarking passengers were notified of a delay to embarkation times because of the earlier hold up. So that s the reason some mention has been made that ABF have caused delays to boarding.

Arlie Beach or Yorkeys Tenders
robncruise replied to Yehootu's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Tendering art these ports can vary hugely. On Majestic princess Queensland cruise last February the return tendering at Airlie beach, Yorkeys Knob and Port Douglas was horrendous. No catamarans were available at Airlie Beach and even with them in use at the other two ports they took about 45 mins to load. The wait in the hot sun to return to the ship was distressing for many. The staff were amazing and did their best trying to help with umbrellas and water but not enough to compensate for the extremely hot conditions. Hopefully this year they have improved the process.
