  1. That's not the message. He reunites with his son.
  2. Its actually not clear if they DSC funds the incentive program AND the salary or the incentive program in addition to their salary. "...compensated by a combination of salary and incentive programs that are funded in part by the service charge" That sentence could mean the DSC funds the incentive program on top of salary, or both the incentive program and the salary. That was in reference to the individual's server/tip example, not the DSC verbiage.
  3. I think an oxford comma would help with confusion, but then again maybe that's on purpose: "...behind-the-scenes support staff are compensated by a combination of salary, and incentive programs that your service charge supports."
  4. 100% this But that's not exactly what's happening (if we're to believe some people on here). It's more like saying a server makes $5/hr and the companies incentive program adds an extra $5/hr + 20% tips if the employee hits certain services metrics (positive feedback etc). I agree that a better system would be for NCL to clearly lay out how much is going to whom with the DSC. ie "your DSC is split between your room steward 20%, server 20%, host 15%, laundry attendant 15%, bonus program pool 30%" but that's very unlikely. If I've learned anything from this thread (and it's very little) it's that when customers receive good service on a cruise they should at the very least communicate that to management (via comment card or otherwise), in addition to any extra tips they feel appropriate.
  5. They were definitely on the Encore, sailed 11/27 and we had them. We filled one out. Honestly they were everywhere.
  6. We were on the Encore 11/27 sailing and I assumed we were going to dock at Amber Cove since I had seen most large NCL ships stopping there. We got a notice in our room the night before with a "port change" Seems like ncl is sending larger ships to amber cove because of what happened with the Escape
  7. "tips" are an technically an incentive program. Both in the general population and on cruise ships.
  8. NCL does state that is used to provide gratuities in their most recent email: "...discretionary daily services charges, which provide gratuities to key onboard team members, including room stewards, restaurant servers and behind-the-scenes support staff."
  9. Some of the best photos i've seen yet. Ship looks STUNNING. Can't wait to set sail in January!
  10. We have one booked for the first time. And we're very excited and looking forward to it!
  11. As others have said, since you booked the Air via NCL they should wait (a reasonable) amount of time for you. They tack on the transfers (at a cost) so unless you tell them not to they should be included. I would bet that you make it.
  12. It used to be "250min for the first passenger" they updated the free at sea package recently, now it's "150min for two passengers" less per person, but more in total
  13. It depends. Sometimes the promo is $50 off per excursion.
  14. Yeah I have a hard time believing these are a "mistake" or "screwup". They knew very well what they were doing. Will they get complaints? Likely. But that can be fixed with a better descriptions of these rooms (and possibly lower prices). I doubt they'll be removed.
  15. I feel like part of the reason for the undesirable flights/stop-overs is due what's going on with the airline industry (limited flights, over priced etc). Once things start to go back to how they were pre-pandemic we might start seeing things improve. NCL is always going to go with the lower cost flights, as long as they meet their guarantee.
  16. For our upcoming cruise next month my partner and I, and my parents, all booked our flights on points. My brother (who doesn't collect points) used the NCL promo. He got lucky and is on a flight to Miami roughly around the same time as us (with no connections); and on the way back he has one 2 hour connection; and departs around the same time as us again. His total for the two of them was $330 CAD. It really is luck of the draw.
  17. Glad to hear they're good! We just booked them for our Cruise in Jan 2023
  18. Honestly, i've seen that "shore excursion credit will be applied" on the paddleboards before, but every time I've gone to book it, it doesn't apply. Which is how I originally discovered that rentals can't have the credit applied. That seems like a glitch that won't seem to go away lol
  19. My gut feeling was that it was a glitch from the start, they've never allowed shore excursion credits to be applied to rentals on GSC (paddle boards etc), so i'm pretty happy I managed to snag one.
  20. TY! Just booked mine for my cruise in January. I already have an afternoon zip-line excursion, so (I guess) I have the per-excursion credit. Got both for close no zero dollars.
  21. Honestly I don't see this as an NCL issue at this point, if the flight is with Delta this would appear to be their issue and they should be working to fix it. If they cancel the flight or rebook you then NCL would be obligated to step in.
