@*Miss G* No i retired Jan 2020, but returned to work Aug 2021 due to covid staff shortages. Been loving it as because it just does not matter, low work stress now. Will enjoy a lobster feast for any reason.

Is HAL looking to disappoint Have it All Passengers

Yes good point. Just being cheap with credit card exchange rates and what not. Not worth the frustration. Waiting to hear back from family members about new proposed time or date. -

Is HAL looking to disappoint Have it All Passengers
lobsternight replied to Ipeeinthepools's topic in Holland America Line
Having read this thread I thought I better book the Pinnacle for our upcoming cruise end of April. We have credit for 1 meal each as part of another package, but am also inviting 2 family members and my son that is underage and should be discounted. Figured I'd pay up and sort it out on the boat. Due to my stupidity I now realize I booked our time too close to the end of an excursion. I guess I will be calling in tomorrow to change times. I did notice that availability was already reduced for many of the times that would have worked. We are 90 days out from sailing -
Thanks everyone for the posts and prayers to those in need. Just catching up with the last few days of the fleet report. Friday was a busy day at work but most fulfilling. I was not sure coming out of retirement was a good idea but am loving it. Well its lobster night tonight. Thought I would treat the family and everyone is excited. Will head up to the store soon and pick up the bad boys. Its cold but clear out so will steam them on the BBQ. Quite overwhelmed right now. DW has never had a new car, I've only ever had 1. Usually just buy with whatever we have cash for. Well the DW is a good egg, always takes care of me. We decided just this once she should have something made to order. Most sense for her is a mid size SUV or crossover. Just into the initial stage of research and I'm already so confused. I chuckle because so much emphasis is on connectivity and stuff like that. Mrs Lobsternight does not embrace any form of technology. The fact she has email and checks it now and then is a miracle. No cell phone, nothing. Her only request is that she gets backup camera.

Will HAL Changes Discourage Regular HAL Cruisers
lobsternight replied to mcrcruiser's topic in Holland America Line
No, don't want to bring my work clothes along. I'm sure my balding head will shine even in a total eclipse. We are sailing out of San Diego to Cabo and PV, then off to Hawaii before returning to Vancouver, our home city. Its interesting how people are reacting to the changes. We have been exclusive with Celebrity forever. In April will be our first HAL cruise to try it out. Already considering canceling a 2024 X cruise for the same reason. Depending on the outcome of our April cruise will decide on the eclipse tour. I'm sure we will enjoy HAL, and fortunately do not have any preconceived idea about it. -
Odd, things seem all over the place. I was walking by my TA today and asked her about our Club Orange cabin upgrade. She said we won't know about it until 3 weeks out from sailing.

@mcrcruiserwill wave at you during the elipce from the koningsdam. I will be in a bright red...oh wait, it will be dark -
If the Great Baldini is still alive it may be a few extra rounds of Duck Farts as he's so entertaining. Was still alive in September. OmG we go to Alaska too much @CruiserBruceall good, we can converse there. We are not tour sharing, only a little discussion about fun excurion we are both taking independently. @Mrs Soap sign up on the roll call please, we dont want to break the rules.

Oh I'm sure you will see us lol. Even though its a little more go for it, Juneau is a great destination, im sure we will cross paths many times. If we don't, let's meet at the Red Dog Saloon afterwards for a few rounds of Duck Farts.

We are there on the 2nd of May. Think I got the last 2 door a month ago, sorry. That is what the web site said so I'm assuming its true.

The Westing Bayshore was good enough for Howard Hughes to rent out a couple floors for a very extended stay ba k in the 70s im sure they have updated since then 😀

Well done @martincath, all good advice. Victoria is nice, and the scenery going to and coming from is fantastic, but with limited time I would pass. The Westing Bayshore is a great location in Coal Harbour. A block to bike rentals for Stanley Park, and also located on a nice seawall walk that goes towards the cruise terminal. Lots of nice places to eat. Also explore up Denman Street towards English Bay, easy walk, very vibrant area, active until late at night. Just take a cab to the ship, bit of a long walk with luggage. Cab will get you there in under 5 minutes

Squirrels UGH! Don't mind our native Douglas Squirrels but they are mostly gone, Grey Squirrels have taken over. We were late getting g chicken wire over our bulbs so not much hope for the tulips this year. My eldest son spent a year at Uni in South Dakota. Was very impressed at the size of them. Can truly see why someone would make a meal of them, lots of meat on those suckers. Not to mention the raccoons, I thought ours were big. Spread like mile markers all along the highway, must be all that corn.- 99 replies

We have driven the highway with truck and camper, nice trip. Look at the HAL website as what appears to be the same train trip can be slightly different. Just booked for our HAL trip in May. Bus picks you up at the dock, tour up highway is narrated with some Robert Service poems (recently met his granddaughter), Stop at worlds smallest desert, lunch in Carcross, wildlife display (taxidermy), RCMP display, off to dog musher camp, train back to Skagway. Seems like the best of everything. Think it was $240 each

My DW was standing in line on day 1 of a 2019 cruise. Someone talked her into trying the cinnamon ice cream seems like am odd flavor. For the next 4 years she would not shut up about it. Our next cruise in 2022 she remembered that it was a first day flavor if that makes sense. She brought me a bowl, well I'm here now raving about it
