  1. M328D Hamburg Short Break 19th September - Gala Evening Optional M336 Eastern Caribbean 27th November - Gala Evening Red and Gold 1st December - Gala Evening not specified 6th December - Gala Evening - Roaring Twenties
  2. They usually provide a 'continental' breakfast 5am to 6am in Kings Court or Lido then cooked options from 6am. The main restaurants are open 6.30am until 8am for waiter served breakfast. Mayflower is easy to negotiate, you won't have to cope with stairs. Although one of the older terminals in terms of existence, it is very modern inside and is fully accessible. There are always shoreside staff on hand to guide you and they will direct you to the lifts if required so it should be straightforward.
  3. I think the two ship trans Atlantic service was timetabled to sail on Wednesday, arrive on Sunday which ties in with the 48 hours turnaround. They carried mail, cargo, cars as well as passengers so longer turnaround times were probably needed to cope with it all including provisioning, bunkering and so on. Thank you for the tip-off about the film, will have a look for it.
  4. Yes, I made a five day crossing in 1993 on QE2 and by 1997 crossings increased to six days. My first Queen Mary 2 seven day crossing was in 2010 which became the normal trans Atlantic service the following year. I suspect you are right that seven days is the sweet spot for maximising onboard revenue, appealing to the market and also a reasonable compromise by not thrashing the ship at constant higher speeds coupled with the related fuel economy.
  5. The Port of Bridgetown, Barbados. SeaDream l formerly Sea Goddess l and Queen Mary 2.
  6. I saw this on YouTube which might be helpful. At 08:00 there's a walk-through of the fitness area by the guest.
  7. Thank you for taking the trouble to provide detailed replies. I did add specific cruise cover to my insurance because my itinerary includes flights and a cruise. I've got cover for cabin confinement and missed departure, as well as missed scheduled port stop cover, of £150 per port. Requirements for valid claim and evidencing are exactly as you have stated in your reply. I should have read the policy in detail but glad of the prompt as I'm closer to departure now and understand what's needed to make a claim for all possible events.
  8. Apologies, I meant for example arriving at the port and it was too windy to land, it's happened twice to me once at Alesund and once at Antigua. Both resulted in a day at sea. I wasn't bothered to be honest, but I wondered if you need a letter from the purser because the only 'evidence' I would have had was memory of the captain's announcement. You are correct though I should read my policy and be prepared.
  9. My policy has missed port cover, I've never claimed. Out of interest what would I need as proof for a claim?
  10. Bad weather forecast for Tuesday morning in Southampton area, captain aiming to arrive Monday evening. Source is somewhat second hand but reliable, announcement made on board ship yesterday.
  11. Nice photographs, interesting subject! Recognised the bigger of the two lighthouses as Lismore near the Sound of Mull. Smaller light is Lady's Rock Beacon, admit I had to look the name up. That places the anchor port to the east as Oban. The stretch of water is Sound of Kerrera? I had to look at a map to answer though so maybe not the answer you seek. Queen Victoria performed a cruise-by during the summer of 2022 in the area, not sure if Lismore was included?
  12. I'll offer Cherbourg as my suggestion. Not many nautical miles from your last contribution. It's a lovely port to explore.
  13. Apologies, I have recently been there, and it was immediately familiar, including the clue of a pleasure cruiser which I saw coming under the road bridge and into the harbour in similar style.
  14. Barcelona, opposite the cruise ship piers.
  15. That's a Scottish port. It's Tobermory, Isle of Mull.
  16. I'm thinking the only way to get that angle would be to zoom in from a ship at the Queen Elizabeth ll terminal? It's a more straight on view to the Western Docks from a ship in the Ocean Terminal.
  17. On a recent voyage in July the three offered were La Piazza, Bamboo and Coriander. All a $25 cover charge. Steakhouse at the Verandah was $45 cover charge but no smokehouse offering in Kings Court alternative dining.
  18. Queen Mary 2 will feature in the Blue Port Hamburg Light-up this evening. https://www.hamburgcruisedays.de/en/bottom-slider-en/light-up-blue-port-hamburg/
  19. I noticed they had Oris, Tissot and Cartier watches recently there were others but didn't go into the fine watches store to investigate further. In the daily programme there was a notice about "pre-loved Rolex" watches being available. They also had "fashion" watches offerings in one of the other stores I vaguely recall Citizen was one of the brands advertised in the daily programme.
  20. I wonder if 'priority check-in' translates as you will be boosted towards the front of the queue if there is a wait? Cleverly worded so they can issue you a random arrival time of their choice meaning the priority only kicks in once in the terminal building not when arrival times are allocated.
  21. Rain or shine Halifax is one of my favourite ports. It is good to see Queen Mary 2 calling there again.
  22. That looks fabulous. I must admit I like the Cunard trifle served on the regular menu. It isn’t fancy just red jelly, fruit, custard and cream but it always hits the mark with me. In fact if I find out it is on the lunch menu I will go specially to have it. Their lasagne too garners the same reaction. If both, by coincidence, are on the same lunch menu I am in heaven.
