.... and never EVER intimate that you dislike or are not interested in caviar, lobster or champagne 😉

On a couple of forums this is akin to breaking wind in Church 😉 I once suggested that some people only ate certain foods because the could and the results were 'interesting '

I really don't like caviar (too salty) and lobster (bland and mushy), and LOVE telling people this just to see their reaction. 😆

  2. Thanks for asking this. I am going on, hopefully, my first Regent cruise next year (RSS Splendor, European Transatlantic - Rome to Miami) and I bought all my clothes from JC Penny and Target! The JCP ones look much nicer and country-clubish.

After seeing pictures of people's closets from their suites, it was clear that I will have no problem fitting in on Regent.

Now Cunard, might be another story. I would like to sail/cross the Atlantic or Pacific on a real ocean liner one day, and Cunard is the only one building them.

We were just on a cruise on the Mariner from Miami to San Francisco. The ship used Facial Recognition system to go on/off the ship. My understanding is that the system also looks at your body temp. My question is what else will the system do? I for one have a checked past and am very worried 😃

Not on Regent yet, as I take my first sailing on Splendor in November 2023, but I first encountered Facial Rec. on my Celebrity and Norwegian sailings and assumed it was standard.

I take from your post this is something new for Regent?

Why would anyone want to go to Russia?????

It's a great country. It's just that it's leadership is garbage. It's people are not bad.

Like America during 2017-2021, a country can get a bad rap just from it's leader.

But it's people are still great! I have wanted and still would like to visit Russia and walk in The Red Square.

    Peace

Another option is some cruise lines are creating solo occupancy rooms for single travelers, including single lounge spaces.

Though sadly, these spaces are very cramped, and no bigger than a walk-in closet; some smaller than a traditional inside cabin.

However, most solo travelers accustomed to such accommodations will not see any issue.

Myself, I like space, and lots of it. For this reason I have never, and will never sail in a "solo cabin" or an inside cabin, for that matter.

Since the industry deliberately charges solo cruisers from 25% - 200% more per person, those solos cabins should be larger and equal in size to double occupancy balcony cabins and suites.

    But, that's my opinion...

  6. I came back from my 14 day on Bliss (Jan 21- Feb4) three weeks ago. I still have dreams about being on that ship 😊. It was great with only 1313 passengers aboard! We had to skip two ports, Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala & Puerto Caldera Puntarenas, Costa Rica, because of COVID regulations, but it was still a very relaxing cruise. I actually got to use the pools and Jacuzzis. The food was amazing, and the booze was ever flowing. I would love to do it again, but by the time that happens on this ship it'll be sailing at full capacity, and I ain't doing that.

My next cruises are aboard Regent 7 Seas Splendor: East Caribbean in December, and a Transatlantic (Spain to Miami) in November 2023!

The one main rule I would suggest is make sure you specify everything you want. So when ordering dinner from the compass rose menu, you must specify if you want bread and butter. Make sure you specify the butter or you will probably just get the bread with no butter. There have been several similar examples (e.g. we have ordered a bottle of Merlot and no wine glasses came, a New York steak had no steak knife). They are happy to send stuff up, but your food might get cold. So we make a list and check it before ordering.

That's not 'normal' Regent, very odd 😕. Everything listed is common enough one should not have to ask, especially on a cruise costing five figures. Hopefully 🤷🏿‍♂️, they'll go back to 'normal service' by the end of the year.

You heard wrong, Vacaya is very welcoming to everyone, it was a very diverse crowd and the cruise was awesome, great weather, awesome ports (Aruba and Curacao) and spectacular entertainment.

No it was an actual fact. Wish I had the URL for the actual voyage.

But, oh well, who cares. Peace

  9. I do like they use Celebrity ships, but those ships don't tend to have a lot of fun activities. But, I hear *some* voyages reserve the top deck for hooking up on certain nights 😝.

We used a CVS managed community health site in LA. They had rapid PCR tests for free, but it was about a 20 minute farther drive. We had our results back in about an hour.

I was going the CVS route, but as i don't drive it would be a challenge to get a Lyft or Uber to drive me to the test site, so I have read and heard.

So I have scheduled with ScarletHealth/BioReference (SHBR) on early Wednesday morning for a sailing on NCL for Friday.

SHBL sends a doctor/health professional to your home, or wherever you are, to take the sample and delivers it to the lab the same or next day. You get results in 1 to 2 days via email, the app, or online via your account portal.

My hope they get my sample to the lab the same day, so I can my results by Friday.

I live in Florida, so I am glad I can get my results in the app while in Los Angeles.

But, as precaution, I got two Antigen tests to take at home, before leaving, just in case.

  11. I'll be on the Splendor this December sailing the Eastern Caribbean for 10 days!

I know Regent isn't known as a 🏳️‍🌈 line, but I have heard  it is 🏳️‍🌈 friendly!

I'll be in Concierge 718, unless I get my Penthouse upgrade! Whooo Hooo 😆🙋🏿‍♂️🤸🏿‍♂️!!

Thanks for your continuing reports and your fortitude enduring a cruiser's worst nightmare.

It does seem that one side effect of this virus is to stretch the boundaries of simple arithmetic. Here in the UK our new "5-day rule" seems more like 7 days when I add it up using my fingers & toes 🙄

As I see it: both of the protocols for isolation are very logical, and makes perfect sense.

The goal is keeping you and other passengers safe.

Of course, your comfort and satisfaction are also important.

I believe the cruise lines (that enforce vaccinations, and personal safety), and the CDC are doing a great job.

When I hear people complain about the CDC, it's mostly about inconveniences they suffered.

That said, I'll be grateful, when this all comes to a close.

    Peace.

For what it is worth, that is an excellent cruise, and the transit of the canal is fantastic.  Not sure why you'd cancel so many outdoor excursions . . . outdoor transmission is still not a thing as far as I know.  There is the bus ride, but that's mostly with people from the boat and you could see if they would open the windows for extra ventilation.

This is why I was going to wait till I got onboard; just in case if we can't get off the ship for any port with an excursion - as may be the case with Cartagena, Columbia because of the crime, civil unrest, bombings, and COVID. But, that is a pirate thing - I can skip that. But I really want to zipline through the Costa Rica jungles and the Guatemala safari.

But the port does have 72hour prior testing requirements, and one ship from another line chose not to disembark passengers (if I got that right).

  14. Mine was done as original form of payment (credit card) when they removed Nicaragua as a port of call for the Bliss (Jan 21st). I called and they said it's already been processed "in the background". Still waiting... (@crystlvylt1 got theirs in "good time").

My cancelled NCL Shuttle Transfer refund took a couple of weeks to post to my bank, though.

The cruise before us is the Bliss from LA to MIA, so that we can do MIA to LA.   If they can't make the journey, NCL will have to cancel ours.

I'm on this sailing. Everytime I see a new announcement, I wait to see if Bliss is on the list.

With 10 days to go, I can wait or sail; I can cancel excursions while onboard since it'll be 48 hours before we arrive at the first port. If the deny us, I'll be refunded anyway, as I was when Nicaragua was cut.

Whatever they do, I hope it isn't a credit that HAS to be used by the end of 2022. I would hope to get all my cash back.

  16. Seems Bliss on January 21st to the Panama Canal is sailing.

Seeing that I have 10 days to go is giving me anxiety. Sigh, we'll see.

Since my ship isn't effected by this announcement, I won't get cash as I'm paid in full, only FCC.

After what I paid, I'd rather go on the cruise - masky-masky, gloves and all; because I want to see the Panama Canal.

I am likely going to cancel all of my excursions onboard. Though, I will miss the opportunity at ziplining in Costa Rica, the Safari jeep ride in Guatemala, and boat riding in Cabo San Lucas. 😩
