  1. Check the date... that's the date QA is in Flam. I guess the 11:43 is best; 8:58 a bit early, 14:33 a bit late for return. Do they lay on extra ones when ships are in? (I fully expect prices to go up when they know what days ships are in: I booked a hotel in Oslo next June before Springsteen tickets were officially on sale - once they were officially, hotel prices doubled...)
  2. Was looking at train costs - £224 for advanced return saver tickets for 2. Can only imagine what Cunard would charge for a combined package... (flex train tickets are something like £160 each return, for a 2 hour train journey....) ...but IS such a package available for train plus one of those other trips? If not, I'll be booking train tickets shortly after I book the cruise next week. I know it's not until June 2024, but I like to be prepared 😉 . Heck, I just bought Sarah Millican tickets this morning.. for October...2024!
  3. In one day, and not miss the boat?
  4. Thank you. Yes most cruises seem to do Geirangerfjord. The 7 day cruises only seem to do two high sided fjords. (The one I am looking at has Bergen and Haugesund to book end the other stops) Interesting that crowds don't seem to be as much of an issue as I'd have thought; I have seen Youtube videos of CitySightseeing buses turning up in villages when the cruise ships are in Your comments on excursions are probably as expected: Cunard cost more but guaranteed; concierge may help Grills but (actually, rightly) no priority. I know it's the herd, but I'm doing the railway! Are Flamm and Olden both non-tender stops (I assume as fjords are deep, quayside moorings are not an issue) I could book tickets now! £242 round trip on saver tickets... I guess it's Norway! Goodness knows what Cunard would charge? $600?
  5. Back to the fjords again. QA is going to Flamm, and my mother highly recommends the railway. What are places like Flamm like when 3000 passengers descend? Sounds like it might be a touch crowded (do the 5000 passenger monsters do the fjords?) Am considering PG minimum (I know some on here won't recommend that on QV or QA) or even QG; do these grades help with booking excursions in overcrowded Norwegian villages - obviously want to do the railway The other stop in the heart of the fjords for the June 24 QA trip is Olden. Are Flam and Olden good choices (later QA cruises go elsewhere)
  6. This cabin looks very interesting on QA. 8 of them. Lowest is deck 7. Cheapest QG
  7. Same here. All lined up to book QA to fjords. Includes Flamm as well. Just the question of PG or one of the Q6s right at the front with a forward facing window. They look interesting…
  8. BC seems to vary more in price than any other class. Relatively small so impacted more by supply and demand.
  9. Ah ok. The one on the 10th is the first on the booking page - which was what I was going by, so the 11th May could still be a meet up
  10. I've only done QM2 so far, so want to try one of the others, from Southampton to the fjords, so I have one choice of ship and date!
  11. What was the main problem? The cabin size/layout? Always the QG option! Or the BC...
  12. The main complaint about QA that I've seen on here is the Promenade Deck being severely compromised? I guess it's a bit ugly and looking at passenger numbers/crew numbers/size it may be a bit more crowded than the others, but it's going to be a bit different and the renderings look cool.... so why not?!
  13. The one trip I was looking at (fjords) was from £2699 PG pp and £3499 QG pp which was cheaper for both than a QM2 trip to what it claims are the fjords. Yeah, it's £750 night ... knock 5% off, and $260 OBC, and shareholder $100 and I get it to about £690 per night! Was looking at SAGA and they seemed no cheaper, though they are all inclusive...
  14. Guessing QE refit with its crew moved to QA maybe?
  15. @Victoria2 Their New Voyages page says this (below). So that's the same as the maximum you can save through agents. I assume there's still the usual OBC/Parking/Coach options with the Cunard Fare
  16. It could cross with the QM2 in the channel on 11th May (one day out from Southampton for QA, one day to go still for QM2)
  17. I will be online at 1pm on the 6th Probably go for a P2 on Deck 4... no reason to go P1, so generally £200pp cheaper. They seem to have sorted that daft island in the PGs - the cabin is still long and thin though so may be tempted by a Q5 or Q6 (though those are only high near the bow, so motion could be an issue) I want to do fjords, so am limited it seems to QA or QM2, and QM2 is more expensive, so QA it is for her one cruise there
  18. They didn't even bother checking our Covid passes back in October... We must have honest faces?
  19. Out now... for sale on 7th Dec - sorry 6th Dec for Cunard club members Prices seem Ok ish compared with next summer Do Cunard offer any early bird discounts...am looking at a QA fjord cruise so I expect not as people will be wanting to try it out https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/new-voyages?utm_medium=email&utm_source=ECND1637 S24 Embargo Lift&utm_campaign=ECND1637+S24+Embargo+Lift&utm_term=CU-3792605&utm_content=cta_hero
  20. Ours for QM2 said 12:30 I think. We arrived at 11:30 and were on board 15 mins before we were supposed to even turn up (this was Southampton in October at the Mayflower- it was a very easy process; had been reading complaints about how long it took, queues etc) So we went for lunch (this was QG) I'd get there early, especially if you are Grills. They don't check the suggested times
  21. Better tea (the drink) in the Grills lounge, and quicker service for the afternoon tea. Also used the Queens Room though for afternoon tea as that's rather nice for one of the seats by the windows - it's low down on Deck 3 so good to watch the sea go by... For either, best to be there at 3:25... Grills lounge is only so-so as a room.
  22. Well... seems like QV isn't doing the fjords in 2024, so it's over to QA PG from £2699pp and QG from £3499 so prices no higher than 2023. I think I will be looking at that one; in P2 (no point going P1) or Q5 at the stern (there are 8 x Q6 right at the front, high - presumably those are the £3499) Looking at the June cruise which seems to be the only one on offer on QA. QM2 doing a couple. QV is in the med. Nothing for QE as yet... Just seen this...how does this count as "Norweigian Fjords". No good to us, we are off to Oslo next June to see Springsteen, no need to go again 😉 https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/find-a-cruise/M415/M415 Fjords seem under-served in 2024, unless QE is doing any
  23. The Britannia Club dining room on QV looks fantastic. BC prices seem to vary the most of any; sometimes not far off PG (so not worth it), sometimes much cheaper so would consider as an alternative to grills. Iona looks horrid - and over 5000 passengers - and I’m really not sure about the P&O livery with that Union Flag on the bow…not that it matters when on board.
  24. He may mean "restricted view" perhaps?
  25. You should have a standard QG cabin above you - probably around 9066 - you aren't far enough back to have open deck above. Look at where you are relative to the rear lifts You did say QM2? Seems that you are behind the lifeboats but guessing you have the lift raft barrels in front of you I think conversations have been about deck 8 club cabins on QV having noise above...?
