I'd query - A1 and A2 are Britannia Club. BB are right next to A2 so they may have moved the split.. Also, Club get some more room perks now (according to brochure I received) - maybe just coffee machine and bottled water, I can't remember

They did exactly as I said they did. Double charged until refunds started reappearing on my card after about 10 working days. They replied to my email saying that this was their policy (quoted 7 to 10 working days, to contact them if hadn’t been credited after 10 days). This was on one 7 day crossing. These weren’t “holds” on the card but actual charges.

Is Smart Attire what in the US we call Business Casual?
buchanan101 replied to LB_NJ's topic in Cunard Line
It does indeed - but somewhere it says "collared shirt" - or at least it did and they've changed it back. Before my crossing in October I saw "collared shirt..." There were conversations about the relaxation here on the boards! Interesting - I suspect they may have been trialling it and have reverted to original requirements/suggestions -

No. Just says collared now. Changed in the summer. -

Don't get the conversation started on to what "pants" means on opposite sides of the Atlantic. Someone dressed in UK "vest and/or pants" would definitely be turned away from any restaurant, anywhere -

Looks fine to me. Called "smart casual" in UK; basically NOT jeans and some sort of collar for the evenings is fine. I wore a (good condition) polo shirt sometimes, so doesn't have to be a dress shirt -
Strange Location of Queen Suites on Queen Anne?

There is that, but with only one Cunard voyage to my name that’s very unlikely especially given the relative sizes of QG to PG accommodation on QA (judged by relative sizes of restaurants) -

There are only 6 (I think) forward. All should have forward facing windows (balconies obviously to the side) - which could be rather cool. Many more at the stern, generally more expensive. Fore or aft either way they seem interesting rooms; only saving a couple of £k made me go PG for a booking. I may regret it. -
That’s the same discount. I was saying 50% off the second fare, which is the same as 25% off the double fare.

Yes noticed that too - on QM2 the restaurants are about the same size. Maybe they can get more passengers on board with a higher proportion of PG out of all grills, maximising revenue - which is also why they now have 200% more BC cabins than on other ships -

Was watching a YouTube video yesterday with Stephen Payne (QM2 designer). He says Britannia restaurant is 2/3rds of the way back as that’s the point of least movement. Which is what I had thought- that the bow moves more than the stern. (On the one rough day on recent crossing Queens Room was a lot more comfortable than Illuminations) -

Yes, weird that they have Q3 fore and aft and Q4 "midships" for the "normal" sized QG Penthouses. Presumably they cost a bit more than the "midships" ones on Deck 7 -
They are in the area that is the mirror image of the Art Gallery; they are supposedly also off a walkway corridor (for access to and from Queens Room), but the corridor has doors both ends so virtually no one uses it as a passageway. Everyone uses the Art Gallery as a corridor (or avoids deck 3, or uses an empty Britannia restaurant) to access the Queens Room

The Q6's are right at the front - looks like they'll have a front facing window - was tempted by them - especially the ones on Deck 7 (but booked a PG to save a bit of money) My feeling is that the front of the ship will generally have a bit more motion than the back - this was the case on a recent QM2 crossing as the bow hit heavyish seas - so maybe that's why the Q6s are there and Q5s and Q4s at the stern - also the balconies at the rear will be the least windy anywhere on the ship.. Not sure I'd go high Q6 at the front They've called higher QGs "penthouses" - and all but the huge ones are more equivalent to the bulk of QGs on QM2; they are better positioned for movement and (dynamic pricing aside) aren't too much more expensive than the aft QGs. The central column is all PGs...so even then QG penthouses aren't exactly midships -
How far in advance are shore excursions available to book?

Thanks, just making sure I get the Flamm railway excursion... I guess I could book direct, but railway tickets only available 4 months in advance -

I guess that there is no fixed answer to this... -
This is true - we were in our cabin by 12:15 on our Southampton departure and the boarding was extremely quick and efficient. It was quite reasonable for our room to have been rearranged for the next trip when we returned from breakfast in Brooklyn; can't have it both ways Not much help for a winter cruise, but the QM2 QG wifi worked much better on the balcony... No way I'd risk travelling from 100+ miles away on the day of the trip...

Anyone booking any of the new sailings today ?
buchanan101 replied to Host Hattie's topic in Cunard Line
Why would deposits be refundable anyway? The whole point of a deposit is a commitment to reserving something. -

It's a bit big for a hot tub, and wouldn't it be blue. My money is on a feature skylight...it just about lines up exactly with the ring in the deck below -
Doing a dummy booking there does seem to be a 50% discount on the unused 2nd passenger fare: i.e. Inside cabin £889pp for two, or £1333 for solo occupancy - not sure if this is standard? As for Grills lounge - does look like there's a big - maybe dome shaped - skylight looking at plan combined with deck above - the hole coincides with the round table in the grills lounge

The QG restaurant looks good in that most tables are by the windows or very close. Downgraded to PG for QA though - trying to be slightly sensible with costs this time. (QA PG seems a touch cheaper than QM2 PG, but there again the cabins aren't as good...no quite so bothered about a cabin size on a fjord trip in midsummer) I think the lounge has a large skylight though: -

Yes, I like sea watching, OH likes people watching so being at the side by the windows is great... Grills Lounge was also pretty busy if you didn't get there on time, but this was QM2 and I think tea is served in PG restaurant on QE/QV/(QA?)
