  1. Should still be giving you some OBC or at least a bottle of champagne (not Pol Acker) for the stress it has caused you
  2. Strange that a Cunard fare is being downgraded rather than a Saver fare where no cabin is initially allocated Your TA should be asking for more OBC, especially as it's your honeymoon, and/or some specialty dining Wondering if their upgrade bidding process has screwed up, shuffling too many people up?
  3. 50% bigger than QE and QV (though not sure of ratios in Grills) How is the pricing? Is that comparable between ships? Lots of sold out cruises overall though..
  4. A nice spot - makes sense
  5. I thought I saw a hot tub on the forward deck in the video of the ship arriving in Southampton, and it seems that the model has it (from Dom and Tom's review) and it looks like an open terrace area Is this properly accessible (seems like Deck 5 according to ship plans, and it's only by two standard QGs). The model shows two doors lined up with the end of the main corridor. Looks a cool place to sit
  6. We had come across on the FastJet after leaving car and dog at the inlaws on the island. Quite a lot of people going to QM2 on the FastJet - I guess IoW is a good demographic for Cunard cruisers. Do you leave your car near red Funnel - are there some self park options? Valet parking is £152 for a week
  7. or looking at your husband... ...my partner would want the wall seat and I'd be looking at her We are "only" in PG though, so I have little sympathy for your problem... 😉
  8. Oh yes, both ships are in Is 106 Mayflower then?
  9. Roads are fine for walking along, just that terminals are further than you think... We thought about walking from Red Funnel terminal to Mayflower, but took a taxi - and it was £10 which shows that it was a reasonable distance and a fair bit further than from station. Moxy to Mayflower splits the difference This 23rd June we are staying overnight (on 22nd) at the cricket ground Hilton (with a pitch side balcony - no cricket, just because we can) - and using the cruise valet parking. Worked out as cheap as staying closer. Meeting the IoW based inlaws for dinner at Ennio's bistro on 22nd See you on board!
  10. There is the argument that time passes quicker as you age. I’ve seen arguments that it’s to do with proportion of your life lived, but that makes no sense to me.
  11. Actually I find a change of location means time goes relatively slowly for a week; I used to go on two week holidays - only the second week flew past. Given that every week passes gets me a week closer to “meeting my maker” I’m quite happy for time to pass slowly waiting for a holiday. However weeks seem to flash past… I mean there must be more than one more Boat Race every year? Or Grand National? Or Eurovision Song Contest? And pretty soon - 6 weeks or so - the evenings will start drawing in again…
  12. *some* joggers… very few joggers from memory on QM2 (and there’s generally lots of room on that deck); mostly a walking demographic (me included, but my excuse is years of rugby and skiing…)
  13. Ok…you are correct. I meant if everyone does their own thing.
  14. On QM2 almost everyone was going anticlockwise.., I get the point that maybe joggers should go one way and walkers the other (though I can walk as fast as some people jog..) but if everyone goes against the tide it’s total chaos.
  15. This lady got to stay in PG on the "press/VIP" day/night last week https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CWdT6M_kp8
  16. So would I. Should be properly soundproofed
  17. It seems even more efficient to us Brits as they are based in New York I think so it appears to be an overnight service (My broker ii wanted £3 for an up to date holding certificate but a little communication with Stockperks and everything was sorted - good to see that there is sensible customer service there as well)
  18. Fish n Chips is still there and is inclusive
  19. Exactly. So...could be noisy...
  20. Ah - service lift workings TO the kitchen from store rooms below I think we've cracked it
  21. I thought service lift, but it's only on that deck. No similar spaces on outside walls on any other deck (outside space being more valuable than inside as cabins fetch more). Plenty of white space on the insides of all decks and that one for kitchens etc. Very interesting. I can check in 46 days... It is directly above Britannia kitchen so may be to do with extractors etc? Good spot for the balcony
  22. Can have just about anything you want for breakfast. The menus are huge, and you can order off menu.
  23. True, the OP can do both and compare. Need to get to QR early (we liked a seat by the windows to watch the sea go by feet below)
  24. The food recommendations are probably the a la carte options that you need to pre-order at Breakfast or Lunch. Dover Sole, Lobster Thermador, Beef Wellington, Rack of Lab, and others... for a short cruise not sure I'd bother with the Steakhouse (extra cost)
