  1. Yep. They also usually have a little sign on the check-in desk that says I have to wear pants. The last MDR I encountered this was the Sky in January. I only remember one "enforcement." It was close to 9:00 and we were going there to get some desert. The nice lady at the podium proclaimed that I was improperly dressed and would have to return to my cabin to put on something appropriate before I would be allowed to pass. We just went to the other MDR. If they put it in the daily and enforce it, I'm fine with that. If they just let me enter with shorts, I'm fine with that too. In the grand scheme of cruise issues, this one ranks right up there with "did I get my ice?" and "does my butler pamper me enough?" I was asking because lately the NCL website has allowed advanced reservations for at least one MDR. On my Spirit sailing, it says "too early to book" for both MDRs, but will allow them for 6 or 8 people. It let me make reservations for Cagneys, Teppanyaki and LeBistro, but "too early" for Onda. I'll just skip the MDRs for now. Thanks for the inputs.
  2. Could you check the daily please and see what it says? I've worn shorts in all specialty dining other than LeBistro, and never felt like I "stuck out." If people don't like me being there, it is highly unlikely that it has anything to do with my attire. That said, I really couldn't care less about what other cruise passengers think about my appearance or behavior if I'm not causing trouble or being offensive. I'm there to have fun. Wouldn't it be nice if everybody was? 🤣
  3. I'm guessing she meant that it is better to use your FAS credits at other venues, since you "technically" get the same options with either one at Teppanyaki. The "rules" suggest that you can get an extra appetizer or salad with FAS vs. Platinum at other venues, but actual experiences suggest that in most cases it doesn't make a difference.
  4. Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know. Was this fairly recent? ETA: I see from your signature that it was likely this Spring to Alaska. I'm wondering if they will stick with such foolishness on a Hawaii cruise next year.
  5. I'm pretty sure that many here cruise specifically to escape from that.
  6. That's funny because it is true. I always get a chuckle out of posters who moan about being FORCED to watch it on their cabin TV screen.
  7. Thanks. I just missed it. Admittedly, I didn't read it like I was studying for a critical final exam. 🤣 That said, I highly doubt that Johnny is getting called to medical for testing because he sat behind Jackie (who sneezed) while on an excursion bus. That contract tracing was perhaps the biggest joke of the whole "crisis." Who am I kidding, it was the masks. 🤡
  8. Are they giving you 10% FCC for each cancel? If so, I wish I could be so lucky! 😎 I made out like a bandit after Covid fever when NCL caught cancellation fever.
  9. They fully committed and funded the OL destruction a year ago. They've also sold most of the new cabins for the remainder of 2024. Now they've heard so many complaints that they're planning to resurrect the OL in 2025 and restore it to its former glory. Of course I just made that up. Dare to dream?
  10. I couldn't find in that policy anywhere that I agree to be tested if they want to test me. Did I miss it?
  11. I think this one is the most useful: https://wwwx.miamidade.gov/Apps/Seaport/dailydock/Default.aspx
  12. We were on the Sun in July. They open Moderno as overflow from the buffet and also serve salad and asian noodle soup in there. We did that for lunch several days. It tends to be more peaceful and you can just grab food from the buffet and take it in there. Beyond lunch, the observation lounge would be a good option if you just want to chill.
  13. We've given up asking for Medium Rare and just order Rare instead. That usually brings it into a proper range.
  14. @The Traveling Manand I are going to need a better look at that train.😎
  15. I didn't receive a single email reminder for our Nov 28 sailing. My sources tell me that the NCL IT police found the troublemaker and showed him a prompt exit. HoHoHO. 🎄
  16. Thanks friend! It's a Spirit itinerary that doesn't overnight in Maui. DD's first visit, so we'll likely go see the Crater which will take up the majority of the day.😎
  17. We'll be on a Hawaii NCL cruise next Spring and are trying to find a good way to see the Na Pali coastline (the ship itinerary no longer includes the NCL ship visiting the coastline). After preliminary research, we are considering traveling to Eleele and catching a Kauai Sea Tours boat tour of the coastline. 5 hours with food and beverages. A few questions: a) are there better options we should consider? b) what are the best transportation options? It's about 18 miles. Uber/Lyft? Taxi? Rental car? Anything else? Thanks.
