  1. One of our laments is that since we stopped booking suites and moved on to balcony rooms we no longer have a chair with arms, just a stool. We REALLY like a chair with arms but that chair looks like it could use a steam cleaning.
  2. It's a problem but folks those other folks were too polite and considerate to say anything.
  3. You are lucky! Three quarters of the time they never make the announcement. Now, will they put out ashtrays? On our last Glory cruise (last month) they really rationed ashtrays everywhere. Each day I would find a clean ashtray, or a lightly used that I took to the bathroom and washed, and put it in my back pocket for the many times their rationing left me without.
  4. That looks like the casino bar. Jenny and Randy are our two favorite bartenders these days and we hope to see them again very soon in that casino. Occasionally met David on our last cruise. Don't know if he will regularly be at the casino bar, but he makes STRONG drinks. You might also come across Maria there. Came across her last cruise and we think we remember her from the days the Dream sailed out of New Orleans. She has black rim glasses and my mnemonic device for remembering her name back on the Dream was "take a letter Maria." The Glory casino bartenders are our favorites.
  5. But seriously, you are wise to ask if anyone else has had the experience. We haven't but would not without knowing it is a regularly done thing. Carnival reps often don't give good information. I would be afraid they would refund in future cruise credit. They are not big on giving back cash these days.
  6. One of the hardest things for me is getting a good night's sleep the night before a cruise, but it sure makes the first day of the cruise better. Sleep well.
  7. In addition to the kids running wild etc. there are so many cruisers these days trying as hard as they can to be offended.😅🤣😂
  8. "I'm not big on social graces Think I'll slip on down to the oasis Oh, I've got friends in low places..."
  9. You may well be correct, but I think betting on interest rates going down other than for very short term moves is a bad bet. Interest rates fell for thirty years and are now, except for short term fed induced rates, at levels that are a historical aberration. Most investors today have only lived during this Goldilocks period and don't recognize how unusual it is.
  10. I believe their last dividend was declared in January of 2020, ex-dividend February 2020 and paid March 2020. Pandemics tend to have that effect.
  11. I guess one could say the same about 80% of CC threads... Like watching cars go around in a circle in the Indy 500 or such, folks put up with the tedious for the occasional crash. 😉
  12. Yes; same here. But it is even more strange. Some time back I had saved the pdf files from the download for the boarding passes, luggage tags and general information. Our boarding passes have changed. There is now this in the upper left corner, unlike the copy from weeks back: I figure they added that to help the terminal check in folks recognize priority. Our luggage tags have also changed from a few weeks back. Previously they had a green background in the deck and room number area (I think to designate the area of the ship) but that is now red. And, as has been noted, the general information page that used to give itinerary, billing and OBC information is now just useless BS.
  13. I have noticed that also. Carnival, due to the volume they are cooking, don't fry bacon, they broil it. Now broiling can produce nice bacon but Carnival does not appear to even try to do it right. Rather than laying it out, broiling, then turning it over and finishing the broil, they apparently just grab handfuls and throw them on a sheet and broil till done. Some individual slices come out but stuck together slices, balls of slices and all kinds of entangled slices are quite common. It is a true waste as those balls of bacon hold pools of fat and are not fit for consumption. That is why one of my favorite parts of a cruise is stopping at Waffle House on the way home to have my first real breakfast in a week. It feels so good after a week without breakfast.
  14. I agree with it being hard to miss. I find your second paragraph quite thought provoking. On the one hand I don't feel threatened by pot heads (or whatever the current term is). It is not like they are going to assault or rob you to get a fix unless robbing people is just how they get money to live. I would just tell my kids, if they noticed and asked, that some people smoke it like some people drink and for the same reasons but it is illegal so not the smart way to go. On the other hand there is the problem of these folks breaking the law. Once someone announces they are willing to break laws you don't have any way of knowing just which laws or social conventions they are willing to break. Will they kill you as you sleep on a lounger because you snore? Will they trip you as you walk by just for a laugh? That uncertainty creates uncomfortable worry. By being so inconsiderate as to cause that worry these folks are at best jerks. So I am not open to any illegal drug use outside one's own residence.
  15. Well, having gone through kilos back in my 70s college days I find it very hard not to smell and recognize it when it is around without looking to smell in the least. I kind of like the nostalgia. 😇
  16. Apparently you have misunderstood who people have been complaining about with "coded language" since those plenty of people did not behave in the manner people have been complaining about.
  17. Just to update my speculation - the latest up move from 3 to 4 became a double zig-zag rather than the single zig-zag on the chart above. So the new speculative path is: We'll see how it goes. I have no dog in the hunt.
  18. That is a strong pull for me. I feel so perverted every time I order a Bourbon and Pepsi. Can't stoop much lower.
  19. No, reading "guilt trip" into statements calling people who do not behave as one wishes "cheap" is simply the ability to read the English language.
  20. On the Carnival site you can order some things. Go to your booking and click on Gifts and Stateroom Decor. On the page that sends you to, just under the Gifts and Stateroom Decor heading you will find a click here for FAQs that will hopefully answer any further questions. One useful FAQ answer is: Gift orders may be placed Staged 24/7 at the above website, or by calling The Fun Shops department at 1-800-522-7648, Monday through Sunday, 8:00am-10:00pm ET. • Fun Shops purchases are subject to an 18% delivery fee; The delivery fee will not apply to CHEERS!, Bottomless Bubbles, Cruise Cash and Internet Plans. • CHEERS! and Bottomless Bubbles will not be offered on Europe itineraries. • Flower orders are accepted up to 2 business days prior to the cruise departure date; deadlines are subject to change due to the ship’s itinerary and holidays. • Internet Plan orders are accepted up to 10:00pm ET, the day before the sail date. • For all other merchandise, orders are accepted no later than 2 days before the end of the cruise (debarkation day).
