  1. I on this cruise also. I booked a snorkeling excursion on Chileno Bay. There is also one for Santa Maria. I dont know which one is better. They feed the fish so the fish get aggressive bumping into you. I havent heard much. I snorkeled Hawaii also and it was really nice. Clear water and big tropical blue fish. There are lots of videos on youtube concerning snorkeling in Chileno Bay and Cabo.
  2. Thank you for your insight. This makes me feel better. I did hear that they are very scripted and that would curtail not having spontaneous cruise guests ruining shots. Hopefully, everything is shot off hours and it's not a big distraction. I don't get the part about wanting to interact with guests. That does not seem to jive with the typical scripted reality show. An attention seeking loud obnoxious couple could ruin the whole shoot.
  3. A good friend invited me to accompany her to hear the keynote speaker tonight in a "Women in Conversation" series. She said she thought that it would be interesting for me as this was a captain of a yacht who had fought off pirates and handled a major fire aboard her ship. This speaker just happens to be the star of a reality series called Below Deck. Gotta laugh at the irony. WOMEN IN CONVERSATION - Green Music Center (sonoma.edu)
  4. This isn't a matter of simply not reading a contract or being filmed by ships photographers, vloggers or passengers. That's way different from being in the midst of a reality show and goes with the territory. This should have been announced from the get-go and not pulled as a gotcha one week before the cruise. Of course, they did it for the money. Princess could have charged more money for the cruise and had a full house within a week. Reality shows have a huge audience that are addicted to them. Announcing a reality show one week before the cruise exhibits a lack of caring and respect for the passengers. I hate reality shows and find it annoying to be in the same room where one is on the television. I could not imagine a reality show filming while I'm at the pool or having dinner. They are high drama trash. I hope that they adhere to their promise and post where they are going to film. This whole fiasco cheapens the Princess brand for me. Would Celebrity or Cunard pull this one week before a cruise?
  5. This is the email response that I received from the production company: Thank you for your email. We acknowledge that you do not wish to be featured in the programme. It would be helpful if you could forward a headshot photograph of yourself to me so that I can alert producers to try and avoid you in the back of shot. We will, at all times, display public notices in the areas we are filming in, there are no hidden cameras. In the event that you are caught on camera in these public areas, we will ensure that you are not included in the final cut when we edit the programme. Kind regards Nicola Warren Production Coordinator Displaying notices where they are going to film for the day is helpful. They won't be roaming around the ship catching people off guard. The passengers that are into reality shows can attend and those of us that detest them be elsewhere during the filming.
  6. I will for sure report back my experience. Thanks for the suggestion. It would be a great idea if I had unpaid cruises but my cruises with Princess end this year and are paid in full. The Celebrity cruises are in Feb and March. I have a lot of OBC on all 4 cruises and really would have a hard time trying to figure out on how to spend the excess. I have opted out and will post any replies that I get if any.
  7. WIkipedia has a good write up concerning the definition of a release; Legal release - Wikipedia I'm sure that "not entitled to compensation" would be a part of the release. In addition the signee would also have to verbalize that he understood the release for it to be binding. I'll bet they film that. The laws governing the right of publicity and privacy are at the state level. The release form would have to cover multiple jurisdictions.
  8. No, I never said that I did not buy insurance. I have 5 more cruises booked into March on Princess and Celebrity. There is a good chance that I will not be cruising after that so FCC's would be worthless to me. And if I can cruise again, I don't want to be forced into having to book a Princess cruise. I emailed the production crew. I am opting out and would like to know what show this is and how much it's going to impact cruisers that want their privacy. Most of us had a reasonable expectation of the quiet enjoyment of a cruise that we paid good money for or we would not have booked it. For the life of me, I don't understand why they chose Princess. All the cruise ships go to the Mexican Riveria and I would think Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise passengers would be more entertaining on television and the ships with the all the bells and whistles would be more exciting.
  9. If this is about the crew than they have every intention of exploiting every passenger that they interact with or film. Again, this was not announced until final payment was made one week before the cruise. Not knowing the show, how do you know who they want to get on camera and who they dont. And how do you know what I look like? It appears Princess has that same attitude. Again, we have no information in that email what to expect. If most of the show is a "young cast going off to private show excursions" that would probably be ok. But I'm not going to make that assumption.
  10. That's the thing. They left us in the dark about how much this will be impacting customers. They should have told us exactly what to expect and how much or little it would disrupt passengers.
  11. So, we wont know what it is until we board the ship. I hope it isn't a high drama series and they just close off the venues that they are going to use. They could also do casting calls for passengers that want to be in the show. If they show up anytime anywhere without warning and disrupt passengers, I am going to ask for compensation. This is not what I signed up for.
  12. A good offer with changing sailings would be a possiblity for me. I would have to rearrange my whole work schedule which would be a big deal not to mention cancel house and animal sitters and rebook. It's a topic on our roll call right at the moment and nobody seems to be jumping for joy over the news.
  13. We don't know what reality show this is or who to contact. A good idea. This exploitation of the paying passengers is wrong on so many levels. I wonder if it is the New Love Boat reality series.
  14. Yep, just received this email this morning: Important update regarding your Booking Dear Donna, our valued guest, During your 12-day Mexican Riviera voyage on Royal Princess, a UK-based reality TV show is being filmed onboard for UK channel ITV. Filming will take place across the first 7 days of the voyage and the production company would like to film the cast interacting with guests while on board. If you do not want to be filmed, please email nicola.warren@monkeykingdom.com by Sunday September 25th. Otherwise you just might appear in the program! Kind regards, Princess Cruises  I think that this is utter B.S. to be informed 7 days before a fully paid cruise that I am to be subjected to this chaos. I paid a lot of money for a relaxing cruise to forget about the mayhem in my life. Reality shows are scripted and have to show drama to keep the viewers and ratings up. The lower the ratings the worse that they get. I have visions of bright lights and cameras hoovering around loudly arguing actors throwing drinks, pushing each other into the pool and slapping each other. Crew members running after the actors and pushing guests out of the way. Yes, we can opt out of being filmed but can they come into any area of the ship at any time? Will we be warned where filming is that day? Can they come into the sanctuary and start a ruckus? We should have been notified of this from day one. That way the people that enjoy reality shows could book the cruise and those of us who it would create a stressful experience could find another cruise to book. Something like this is huge and should not be forced upon us at the last week of the cruise. There is no way to opt out of the cruise without losing all my money so I'm going but if I could get a full refund I would do so in a New York minute.
  15. Thank you, I will take your advice and rent the sanctuary for a home base but walk around the decks that you have recommended. I can't wait!
  16. I'm booked on an Emerald Princess cruise to the Panama Canal and thinking of booking the Sanctuary on canal day. Can those of you that have done this describe your experience and did you think that it was worth it or would walking around the ship be a better experience?
  17. I'm interested in the answer to this question, also.
  18. Update: On a lark, I deleted the Medallion app and reinstalled it. I was given the option to log in with my email address or use the booking number so I plugged in the booking number of my next cruise which will be on Sept 27th. It worked! The Diamond Cruise has been deleted and I am now able to get "ocean ready" for my Mexico cruise out of SF. I just finished dinner reservations. Hope this helps someone else in the same predicament. We don't have to deal with Princess phone hell for removing the cancelled Diamond cruises off the app. Just simply sign in with your booking number. But I think that you have to delete and reinstall the app.
  19. The two cancelled B2B Diamond cruises are still listed on the site under reservations along with the rescheduled Discovery cruises. The Diamond cancelled cruises are also still scheduled on the Medallion App. I have a cruise coming up on the 27th that I would like to get ocean ready for so I called customer service to get the cancelled Diamond Cruises off the app. I did press the appropriate numbers on the phone to reach the medallian app reps. I had to explain 3 times to the rep that the cruises were cancelled by Princess and that I wanted them removed from the Medallian app. She could not understand that the cruises were cancelled if they were still listed in my reservations and on the app. When I explained to her the 3rd time slowly in plain english I thought that she understood the situation. She asked me why the cruises were cancelled and I told her that I did not know but again they were cancelled by Princess and not me. She put me on hold to ask a supervisor what to do. I hung up. She called back after 20 minutes and told me that everything was taken care of. Her supervisor told her that the cruises were cancelled and I dont need to worry about them. She had forgotten that my call was about the medallian app. I thanked her and hung up. I just don't have the energy and time to further pursue this. I'm just hoping that the Sept 6 and Sept 11 Diamond cruises will just fall off the App after those dates and the Sept 27th cruise appears. If not I will plan to spend an entire day to deal with it at that time.
  20. Would be nice if they could add it here, also.
  21. It might be that the no upgrade option is not available online in the U.S. and is available as a choice online elsewhere.
  22. There is no upgrade option when you book online. Nobody at Princess told me about a no upgrade option. I did get an email that the I received an upgrade and each time was able to switch back to my original cabin.
