  1. Lifts still being refurbed in January. Am there next week so maybe they will be done by then!
  2. Solo meet ups are great for those, especially new cruisers, who are looking for company and maybe people to dine with or go ashore together. I have been travelling solo for about 15 years and prefer to do my own thing so have never attended one in 77 cruises. However, I like to share a table when dining and find I meet people just by being sociable.
  3. Spent the day at the Spice Club last time. Free entry, great music, food and drinks. A couple of Euros by taxi. Ship's tour there cost £40 and they only stayed for a couple of hours! Might try the buggy next time, sounds good.
  4. Elizabeth House last September was £268 for room only plus 24 nights parking. Not too bad. Holiday Inn cruise package next month with 15 nights parking, breakfast and taxis is £186, so quite reasonable. However, same package in May is £302! Varies widely depending on time of year.
  5. We have four (yes four) charging units in our main Council car park. They were installed over a year ago and still not hooked up. Surprisingly, not many EVs in this area!
  6. Same on Arcadia. However, more relaxed after midnight.
  7. Praia is lovely. So much better then P del G. Wish they stopped there more.
  8. Apparently given the all clear to dock now. Probably the dreaded Noro striking again!
  9. Yes, Holiday Inn cruise package suits me too. Have used it over 50 times. Worth it, as it removes the pre cruise stress I would have travelling on the day, and I get an extra night's holiday.
  10. I am on her in a couple of weeks to the Arctic, so heating is more important for me! Am also on the May Baltic one, which was unseasonably hot last year! Hope they sort this out.
  11. Unfortunately, it does happen here quite frequently in our cities.
  12. Yes, my car was moved to the guest house next door. Have stayed at Holiday Inn with cruise package over 50 times and never had a problem with parking (except during boat show, of course). Very good value.
  13. Remember walking back to the hotel on St Lucia one night. Asked if we wanted to buy a carved item. It was dark, he had a machete, we did not want one. We bought one!
  14. Simple. Just turn up about the time on your boarding pass. Same as for restaurant, cinema, theatre, trains, planes, hotel check in, etc. Or expect to have to wait.
  15. Car park is a bit small though and very crowded. You have to leave your keys so they can move your car around. I prefer to keep the keys with me. Holiday Inn is the best IMO.
  16. This was a long time ago. 2011 on Celebrity Constellation, I think. Maybe my memory is a bit hazy! Done so many cruises since then!
  17. GC is a lovely island. Spent a fortnight at Treasure Island Resort once. Hired a Jeep to get around. Fabulous beaches, stingray city, etc. Visited once on a Celebrity cruise and were lucky to berth there.
  18. Enjoyed Mr Strickler before. Very good stories. Unlike most speakers! Also saw a very good one about Psychopaths, and another about serial killers. I obviously like the more macabre topics! 🙄
  19. Always use Holiday Inn and drive up day before. Room and breakfast, parking for 15 nights and taxi to and from ship. Obviously varies due to time of year, but can work out cheaper than parking only - and you get an extra night's holiday.
  20. Tried it last year for a longer cruise as it is cheap for parking. However, it is not really a hotel, more a guest house with a very basic car park. Very nice people, reasonably priced accommodation. Bit old fashioned. Quite a way to the terminals.
  21. I always book package direct with hotel (Holiday Inn). Used H Extras once and they charged a third more than direct with hotel. Never used them again for anything.
  22. Palma shuttle drops you near the cathedral and old town. Cagliari one at port entrance.
  23. Try the adults only ships. No children but more expensive!
  24. Ibiza Town is lovely. Castle on the hill and loads of shops, bars and restaurants around the harbour. Will be very busy in August though.
  25. It does depend on what obc you get, plus whether you drink, do excursions, use the spa, speciality restaurants, etc. I did 7 cruises last year and spend varied from £50 to £480 after obc used. Some couples I know spend nothing as they don't drink and just use their obc.
