They still only add about 3 or 4 miles to the odometer, so the car park must be fairly close.

When we parked with them last December , our car was here

Doing this cruise on April 21st wondering if anybody has done it and is it cold I did a cross into Amsterdam 2 years ago in the same time. And it was very cold I'm wondering what route the ship takes to Barcelona and how cold it will be thanks for any help

Come and join our roll call

By the time we get to Spain, temps should be mid 20's C (mid 70's F). The actual crossing is anyones guess as the North Atlantic is the most unpredictable of the oceans, but we have done the TA the other way in November and it was fine. If you want sun, you want the starboard side of the ship.. There are no mid Atlantic stops (eg Madeira), so unless there is a detour to avoid a storm, I assume we will more or less go in  a straight line.

However, if the OP were to be so late that they miss the ship, that would mean that they've been delayed by more than 24 hours. (Even if they're only 24 hours late, they might still be able to get a coach to Southampton in time to board the ship.) AIUI, Change and Go is only valid for 12 hours after the booked service, so the National Express ticket would be toast anyway.

I do think that a 1345 coach after a 1210 arrival is a bit optimistic, but that's the sort of thing that Change and Go is designed to cater for.

Fair point G...I think its a case of wait and see what happens (if anything). Always good to have options!

  4. I'm sure everything will be fine, but in case the worst happens, I think your best plan of attack is to go to Southampton on your booked NE coach (so you don't lose your fare), then get a train from Southampton Central to Weymouth (about £11 to £12 and 1hr 30 mins, train every 1/2 hour or so). From Weymouth you just need a cab to the port. You could go to Waterloo in London to get the train, but that would mean dragging across London to come out again and lose your NE money. I'm sure others will chip in.

  5. Next April, we are coming to Texas to do a bit of a road trip and see the eclipse on the 8th (weather permitting🤞). Our last day is driving from College Station to Houston (hotel near IAH). The only vaguely interesting thing I can find to do on the way is to see the Sam Houston statue in Huntsville. Surely there must be something worth a visit...even a mini golf course! Any ideas greatly appreciated.

From reviews.  When we cruise from Miami, or when I used to go there on business, we stay at the Doubletree on Biscayne Blvd - some rooms offer a port view, big rooms, nearby dining options, great pool area, close to the port, etc.  It is a quieter area of downtown.

If any of this helps you owe me a pint - whatever bitter your local pours will be fine! 😎

Unfortunately I’ve booked a non refundable rate. Checked with them last night and if I cancel they will charge us the whole 4 days(!), so we’ll just have to make the best of it. We’re not there until April, so plenty of time for them to get the decorators etc in!🤞

  7. I assume thats the Oasis TA Orla? We're on that too, but we are doing the one week cruise before as well, so doing a B2B. However, we are staying in Miami for 4 days prior to getting on Oasis. We have plumped for the Holiday Inn at the Port of Miami (on Biscayne Blvd). Not the cheapest, but you can get breakfast included, the Bayfront Park is right across the road which also has a 'marketplace' and an observation wheel. There is a Metromover station about 100yds away, which gives free travel round the area, together with a network of 'trolleys' which I believe are free and a HOHO bus stop right outside the hotel. See what you think.

Yes that is an option but it would ruin our cruise if we got stranded with early sitting. That said we can do Anytime Dining but need to pay tips up front in British Pounds, I had hoped to pay the auto grats with dollars that I have left over from many previous holidays. Also I had a very bad experience on last cruise of Anytime dining (different cruise line where you had to join a virtual queue each night).

I bet that was P&O?! They ruined our 5 week Xmas cruise and we've only just got a couple of grand compo out of them. Never going with P&O again!
