  1. Sorry, didn't really know where to put this!

Planning a trip to the USA and we have to end up in Miami for a cruise (actually two!). We have a 2 1/2 hr internal flight. If prices are roughly the same and I'm not worried about getting or using points, would you, as an American, rather fly with United (either economy or economy plus) or American Airlines (either Main Cabin or Main Plus) and does anyone know if the upgrades to economy plus and main plus are worth it? Any comments gratefully received, as info on the airline websites is a bit vague, so I'd rather rely on peoples experiences.

    Thanks

Hello, we will be on Anthem in June and will be stopping in Barcelona.  Does anyone know if RCCL has a shuttle from the port to city center?

I would like to go to Segarada la Familia and I assume it would be best to take a taxi from city center rather than the cruise port.  I that a correct assumption?  Any suggestions or information is appreciated.

We were on Anthem last summer, but I honestly can't remember if there was a RCCL bus. However, there is the port shuttle bus. They are blue (mainly), but some are yellow (just to confuse you!) and have PORT BUS written in big letters on the side. They take you to the Columbus statue at the bottom of Las Ramblas..I think about €3 single,  €5 return. Only problem is, they serve all the terminals, so if there are 3 or 4 ships in, it can be very busy.

  3. I know...not strictly about departures, but hope someone in the Houston area can answer this for me.

I looked at a few YouTube videos of the centre and on them there seems to be one tram tour, but when you go on the centre website there are 3! So my question is have you got to do all 3 tours or is one a combination of the other two?...'cos I want to see it all!!

    Thanks for any help.

  4. Another little warning (sorry!)...we have done the sight seeing tour twice (basically to kill time) before being dropped back at EWR(Newark), BUT British Airways only do evening flights out of there, so they don't open for bag drop until about 3.30pm (or at least, thats how it was in 2017!). The tour normally drops you at EWR about 2pm, so you have 90 mins kicking your heels waiting to get rid of your luggage.

As to the tour, when we did it it was basically a drive round with a 30 min stop near the twin towers to look round the memorial (but not enough time to do the museum bit). If memory serves, that was the only stop.

Since the Windjammer is so great on the Anthem.....in the morning, do they have a station that does eggs to order?  Such as over easy or an omelette.

We were on the Oasis for 12 days last year and were extremely disappointed that they did not have such a station.  Unlike our subsequent sailings on the NCL Prima, NCL Encore, Carnival Celebration and Carnival Mardi Gras.

They certainly did last August and I can’t believe they would get rid of it. Also had a pasta station and stir fry station nearly every lunch and dinner…oh, and eggs Benedict at breakfast if you want them.

  6. We were on Anthem last August and never went to the MDR because the Windjammer was brilliant! Have what you want and as much (or little) of it as you want. I do find in the MDR, no matter what dish you have, you get a big lump of meat (say a lamb shank) and hardly any veg...even when you ask for extra! Thats why most of the time we go to the WJ...just my opinion!!😉

Banger sausages.  Spent a bunch of my youth in England and this was my favorite food.  You can't really find them in AZ, much less the ones that actually taste like English bangers. I pair them up with the mashed potatoes and I'm good to go.  Now if they would just put out some mushy peas I'd be in heaven.

Have you ever tried a pea cluster? A ball of mushy peas about the size of your fist, battered and deep fried. A must (for me) with fish and chips....wow, I feel hungry now!!!

  8. Breakfast :

3 sausages, 3 bacon, 2 fried eggs, 2 black pudding, 4 hash browns, lots of baked beans...heaven on a plate!

Lunch: Shepherds pie with chunky chips and more baked beans

Dinner: (had on Anthem this summer) Vegetarian biryani topped with butter chicken with many poppadoms.

I will now go and order my elasticated waist trousers!!

Thanks to all for your input. We have booked the bus to Victoria Station and will take a taxi to St. Pancres. We have booked a late afternoon Eurostar departure to give ourselves plenty of time. We have no reason to be in Paris particularly early that day as our AmaWaterways package doesn’t begin until the next day.

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but don't forget France is a hour ahead of the UK when booking stuff. Its amazing how many people (including Brits!) forget!!
