  1. We had a panoramic suite on Independence of the seas, got caught in a storm…. a little more motion and sounds as waves crash into the bow. We drank champagne and stared at mother natures display of wind, rain, waves and lightning…. it was incredible. The only downside for us was we had to remove the wooden hangers from the closet as they were clanging together endlessly. We loved the awesome views as our suite above the bridge was on the corner and looked both forward and port side.
  2. Thank you for the abundance of advice and replies. It seems by some replies it was almost a walk down memory lane and days gone by. Nevertheless for most it’s a common bond, the joy of travel, the open sea and the love of cruise ships. Very grateful this was an informative and civil thread as we are all here to support one another. God bless and safe travels to you all….
  3. Thank you…. Just finished a cruise that when the points get added in a few days we will be 169 points. The cruise in August will add 16 more points, hence D+ territory post cruise …
  4. We will become Diamond Plus on our next cruise in August, curious to know are they still doing lapel pins and is there one one for Diamond Plus?
  5. Very happy the current program meets your expectations, I mean that sincerely. I don’t expect 5 star so no disappointment there, as with everything service oriented “your mileage may vary” so to speak. To that end I am only respectfully voicing my opinion, which is one reason these boards exist.
  6. There were a few items that we found fairly decent but overall our experience was it was just okay. The staff on Royal ships are still exceptional and are a shining spot for the cruise experience. Suffice to say different people have different dining experiences as well as expectations. Since the start up a few years back we have completed 20 cruises, not as many as others of course but enough to make comparisons on food being served. Truly happy you enjoy your dining experience… Take care
  7. Just stepped off Mariner of the Seas…. In all honesty the food was at best like a “Golden Corral” quality. While I have been loyal to Royal, I have to say mediocrity is where the bar is now set. For everyone still defending Royal Caribbean’s downscaling of the food you either don’t remember the quality of the food 10 years ago or you are okay with substandard meals. The pendulum has shifted too far in one direction and In my opinion they will drive the people who support RCI the most away for good…. Squeeze us for every dollar now but remember we are shareholders too and vote with our wallets.
  8. Spoke with an officer today and he said while Royal Caribbean will occasionally do filming like that it definitely wasn’t them….. he did however say that there was other reports and most likely it was a very skilled passenger getting footage…. also added call right away if it happens tonight.
  9. About 4 hours out from Cozumel….. Watched it from 9th deck balcony, about 50 feet aft and 50 feet above. Also 30 feet abreast of the ship with a light on the bottom
  10. Late night at sea and we watched what appeared to be a large drone on starboard side flying for several minutes. Whatever it was kept pace about 30 feet away from the ship….. curious to what it was…. maybe too much happy hour 😊
  11. 47 days out, upgraded to junior suite…….. they probably needed my balcony room.
  12. T-shirts is a great Idea…. 40th anniversary cruise….. Established September 1st 1984 Lots of selfies wearing the shirts… Many thanks
  13. Thanks, some pretty decent ideas and a few funny ones. I am grateful for the help… Will try to run down the cost / availability on my suite options. Hopefully can keep it a secret until cruise day, already have first class airfare lined up.
  14. September 1st we will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary on the Jewel of the seas on a 16 day cruise back to the U.S. via Iceland and Greenland. My spouse, the love of my life has endured many hardships in the last 10 years and this is our trip of a lifetime. Having said that I want to make it special and look towards the more seasoned cruisers and creative romantics out there to offer a suggestion to help me in my quest. We are diamond level cruisers and our actual anniversary places us in Nuuk Greenland where our choices of activities may be limited. Thanks in advance if you can help
  15. Skipped ahead and missed many of the reviews. Having said that, we recently did an Adventure of the seas cruise. We loved the workers and have to admit we had many bright spots to our cruise and overall loved that ship. The ship though had many, many, overly worn areas, stained and or frayed areas as well. We are incredibly loyal to Royal… (almost Diamond plus) but have to concede the older ships don’t receive the TLC the newer ships do. What is truly unfortunate is the cost of cruising is becoming ridiculous as we test the upper limit as to what the consumer is willing to pay. Sometimes feels like RCL cares way more for the dollars and less for the returning loyal Royal customer.
  16. Thanks for the replies, trying to do my due diligence on stateroom selection especially on a longer cruise. On Odyssey now…. tons of kids, didn’t think about Thanksgiving being a family cruise time. For the most part the kids have been incredibly well behaved but always a few outliers to make for some good stories when we get back home.
  17. Looking at booking an Aug 2024 cruise and was wondering does anyone know where the designated smoking areas are so I can pick a cabin away from them accordingly. Jewel of the Seas…….Thanks in advance
  18. Sailing out of Port Everglades on Sunday and was wondering if being booked in a junior suite allows me Suite check in at the port terminal? I know this has probably been answered before but can’t find the answer in my searching, thanks for any help on this….
  19. Recently upgraded to Junior Suite 45 days out, put bid in 2 days before on Odyssey Thanksgiving cruise…. somewhat shocked but hey I’ll take it
