September 1st we will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary on the Jewel of the seas on a 16 day cruise back to the U.S. via Iceland and Greenland. My spouse, the love of my life has endured many hardships in the last 10 years and this is our trip of a lifetime. Having said that I want to make it special and look towards the more seasoned cruisers and creative romantics out there to offer a suggestion to help me in my quest. We are diamond level cruisers and our actual anniversary places us in Nuuk Greenland where our choices of activities may be limited. Thanks in advance if you can help

Grandeur of the Seas Be Wary 12/17-12/27
RRTcruiser replied to BigPapi21's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Skipped ahead and missed many of the reviews. Having said that, we recently did an Adventure of the seas cruise. We loved the workers and have to admit we had many bright spots to our cruise and overall loved that ship. The ship though had many, many, overly worn areas, stained and or frayed areas as well. We are incredibly loyal to Royal… (almost Diamond plus) but have to concede the older ships don’t receive the TLC the newer ships do. What is truly unfortunate is the cost of cruising is becoming ridiculous as we test the upper limit as to what the consumer is willing to pay. Sometimes feels like RCL cares way more for the dollars and less for the returning loyal Royal customer. -
Jewel of the Seas smoking areas
RRTcruiser replied to RRTcruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Thanks for the replies, trying to do my due diligence on stateroom selection especially on a longer cruise. On Odyssey now…. tons of kids, didn’t think about Thanksgiving being a family cruise time. For the most part the kids have been incredibly well behaved but always a few outliers to make for some good stories when we get back home. -
Looking at booking an Aug 2024 cruise and was wondering does anyone know where the designated smoking areas are so I can pick a cabin away from them accordingly. Jewel of the Seas…….Thanks in advance

Port Everglades / Junior Suite
RRTcruiser replied to RRTcruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Awesome….. thank you so much -
Sailing out of Port Everglades on Sunday and was wondering if being booked in a junior suite allows me Suite check in at the port terminal? I know this has probably been answered before but can’t find the answer in my searching, thanks for any help on this….

Sailing on Odyssey of the seas Nov 19th 2023, placed a bid for both Grand suite and Junior Suite 2 days ago and got an email that we were awarded a Junior suite, new invoice and new room number 47 days out. Been following this cruise and it’s been looking almost completely booked months ago. Have won and lost Royal up bids before but the furthest out from actual cruise date was like a week. FYI, the bid was NOT that substantial. Hoping that this was not a glitch of some kind as the room location is awesome

You can't make these things up!!
RRTcruiser replied to whitecap's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Last year on a cruise one of the windjammer guests near us used the cloth napkin to blow his nose into then set it on his dirty plate. -
Some of those sparkling wines might cost upwards of $2-3 dollars a bottle….

Win Free Cruise for Survey Completion
RRTcruiser replied to RRTcruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yep, I met a guy once who claimed he won a free cruise from playing bingo. Just never met anyone who said they won a free cruise for doing the survey. Of all the people that post on here and all the conversations they have had with other passengers, never heard of anyone even loosely connected winning a survey cruise. It’s the potential reward never within reach… -
Just completed yet another cruise survey, not for the chance to “win a free 7 day cruise” but to point out my likes and dislikes for the cruise that we just finished . I have always wondered if there is anybody here on cruise critic that has ever won a free cruise or even heard of anybody winning one?

Does anyone know if there is a way to isolate recently added cruises on Royal Caribbean’s website during cruise searches. Like everyone else it would be convenient to know when a cruise is first added. Thank you in advance

Odyssey of the Seas-does the good outweigh the bad?
RRTcruiser replied to rolloman's topic in Royal Caribbean International
My wife leaned too close to the elevator floor panel one time, needless to say we got a lot of cold stares on that ride because it caused every floor to be selected. -
Odyssey of the Seas-does the good outweigh the bad?
RRTcruiser replied to rolloman's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Rolloman, sorry to hear of your experience. We did a transatlantic on her last fall and found the Odyssey to be awesome to say the least. But every cruise experience can be different and as always YMMV applies. Hopefully your next cruise will be better, thanks for sharing. -
Teenagers causing damage to ship this week
RRTcruiser replied to CruisingHogFan's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We live in a world where 15th place trophies and no accountability are now the norm. We all see the effects of “free range children” in our everyday life. One of my greatest cruise moments ever was on the Serenade of the Seas this past January. In the windjammer cafe a young male (probably about 11) ran through the crowd bumping into everyone. A crew member yelled no running and the boys mother turned around angrily and said he is just trying to catch up…. The crew member then said “I wasn’t talking to him” everyone who witnessed this burst out in applause, with a head shake and an eye roll…. mom walked away- 292 replies

We just got back yesterday from two cruises after yours on the Independence. Our cruise contained a lot of college spring breakers but other than a great deal of alcohol consumption and world record settling hot tub attendance, they were pretty well behaved. Heard from multiple crew members that the previous cruise had twice as many spring breakers and there was several minor incidents with inebriated passengers. We have been on 12 cruises post covid and while we still love our time cruising, like any kind of activity the “wow” factor can diminish the more you do it. Having said that, the service was incredible as always, the room was kept incredibly clean (panoramic suite was too cool) and the overall condition of the ship was great. The only downside was it felt very crowded at times and with complete honesty the food was okay to good but no great moments were encountered. We got a great deal on a suite and the positives for us far outweighed the negatives so we still had an awesome time. People have different expectations and comfort levels, that being said I hope you give it another try.

So I had a $100 OBC before the “Premier Pass” purchase. I used my original $100 OBC to purchase the premier pass for $88.99, thus bringing my balance to $11.01 Then I receive the letter explaining the “Glitch” with a promise of $ 50 OBC. Now my balance shows $111.01, not understanding the math here, it seems I got 11dollars of the goodwill OBC. Oh and will they reinstate the cheaper internet I purchased and cancelled because of this. At this point, just put me back to where I was before all this started and I will be happy
