Still here, guess I didn't realize I was being bullied for saying down. -
Dawn passengers left “stranded” on African island
Tyler414 replied to WonderMan3's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Looks like there should be an update to this. So, someone on an NCL ship had a stroke and was dumped at an African port without notifying any of her emergency contacts. A couple days later the folks who were late to return and were refused boarding by the captain, and were left behind on the same island. All the people stranded in Africa by NCL have all meet up and the six are helping the lady abandoned by NCL who had the stroke. They had a major dumping of passengers in Porto Plata a year or so ago when the captain ran aground. Kicked everyone off the ship to fend for themselves. Seems like a pattern. There are so many more reasons I will never step foot on another NCL ship. -

I am trying to figure how the hell to get off this thread. -

Once you go on your first cruise, and happen to be at a tender port, after the ship clears with local authorities you will hear an announcement that passengers wanting to depart the ship can now head to the gangway for departure. The same announcement will happen when docked. On Celebrity E-class ships, the digital floor selectors in the elevator (lift) have a dedicated button for the gangway. -
I was on the same cruise and agree with your review 100% We too, had a wonderful cruise. The casino was pretty good to me!

I'll do my best to help some folks with English: gangway /găng′wā″/ noun An opening in the bulwark of a ship through which passengers may board. Nothing about a ramp up into the ship a person can walk on. 🤔 -
The person that has said this is currently on Beyond, from what I gather, they were told by a crew member not working at Sunset that only frozen drinks are served there. This passenger then put it in their "live" and have not gone to the sunset bar themselves to find out this is not true.

They returned when the gangway was still down and the captain refused to let them board, but anyhoo. -

Similar thing happened on an NCL cruise I was on. We ended up making a unscheduled stop the following day to drop the person off in Nassau. It ended up being a crew member who cut themselves with a knife pretty badly.

Live from Beyond - Day 1 - April 1, 2024
Tyler414 replied to mtempelaar's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I just got off Beyond on 3/11/24. Unless they completely changed the drink menu in the last 20 days, this is absolutely not true. -
Just curious about your transit through the canal. I have this cruise booked next year and I'm in a sunset cabin. Did you stay in your cabin/balcony going through the canal? If so, how was it? If not, why? and where did you go on the ship to watch the transit. IMO the two best places (without ever going through😂) would be a sunset aft cabin balcony or the magic carpet. Thanks for the review and appreciate the reply on my questions. Thanks again.

Good news with Celebrity cruise. Report the changes

Just got back from a 10 day'r on Beyond, we had a wonderful cruise, it was kinda make or break for me. After a not so good one in January 2023 (beginning of the now reversed cutbacks) Everything was great, Decoy was the wine of choice for me, with no upcharge (my local store has it on sale for $12 a bottle currently 😂) Can't wait for the several planned Celebrity cruises in the near future. 🥂 -
Anyone know how magic carpet sky suite connecting rooms work?
Tyler414 replied to jcroc's topic in Celebrity Cruises
There is a door that the suite guest and "connecting" cabin guest have access to, that door opens to a hallway where there are the two separate doors leading to the separate cabins. So you are sharing a hallway. If you know each other you could keep your cabin doors propped open and the hallway entrance door would remain closed. -
I've been in Fine Cut on Beyond twice and Apex once, I'm a steak lover, so I keep going back. It has been hit or miss, it's never been "horrible" for me, but for a "steak joint" it can and probably is going to be a let down.

Just got off Beyond on 3/11/24 and I was charged the $9.95+ 20% for the one time I ordered room service breakfast.

I should clarify, adding another person requires a re-book, booking four and only three show up is no big deal...
-
From my understanding (could be wrong) any change to the reservation requires re-booking, therefore when the decision is made who is going and a change is needed you would have to re-book at whatever the going rate is. So, its really a financial decision on your part. If you book the cabin for four and only three show up, no biggie and you get taxes and port fees refunded for the "no show" If you think its a good deal now for four book four. If you want to play the cruise price lottery then wait until the decision has been made.

Virgin curious? Celebrity sailor tries a new cruise line
Tyler414 replied to JackE's topic in Celebrity Cruises
There is no comparison to Virgin's Pizza, so much better. And I did just order a whole pie on Beyond a few weeks ago, it was OK.
