  1. I travel to Galveston from the East, and take the ferry to the Island from Boliver Peninsula. A fun ride across the channel, with dolphins frolicking alongside. Then a double dose of dolphins as we leave Galveston on our cruise. I love the ferry, with the added benefit that it is just a short drive to Pier 10 from the ferry landing. Allure looked magnificent and huge from the ferry as we approached the landing. Really upped my excitement factor as I arrived for the November 13 cruise. OP - so Happy for you to see that wonderful surprise! Happy birthday to you 🎈🎂 🐬🐬
  2. Me, too. I can’t wait!! And there’s nothing wrong with being ridiculously excited. 😎
  3. oh my gosh, you are so much smarter than I am 😂. Thank you !!!
  4. I’ll be boarding early as you get off (unless you stay on Sunday). Any way we could meet in passing to get your TA contact info, since we can’t ask here?. Or maybe have someone on ship hold it for me? Have a fun cruise!
  5. Can you clarify what Oasis class has that Icon doesn’t ? Doesn’t Icon have even more neighborhoods than Oasis?
  6. I can’t wait to explore this ship! I want to experience Chill Island, and Aqua Dome, and the new ice show, all the entertainment, the infinity pools. Sigh. I’ll probably go while Grands are in school. They would love the Thrill Island and stay there all day. They are too old for the Surfside area. But with little ones, Surfside is a fantastic neighborhood. I like that there are different types of rooms in different neighborhoods. I like solitude and the sound of the sea from the aft cabins (sunset cabins?) - but not on this ship. I really love watching kids have fun, but think maybe the sounds drifting up to the sunset balconies will be loud, all day and all evening long - or until the kiddie pools close 😉. That’s OK. There’s plenty of cruises I could take to get an aft balcony experience not on Icon. I noted from unofficial deck plans (not a Royal site) that there are many, many rooms for 4, and lots of 5+. I’m curious if Royal will do many KSF on Icon class ships? That would really pack the ship! I’m going to book Icon to experience it, it looks fun,! But after that I may cruise solo on other classes. When we have multi-generational vacations, Icon will definitely be a consideration.
  7. I hope she recovers from CoVid soon, and so sorry to hear about her accident. Sounds like the family has been under much stress. I’m sure you are all longing for a relaxing cruise. I’ve enjoyed reading your family trip reports in the past. Praying things turn around for you all soon.
  8. Official Port of Galveston Parking has an Express Lot (fenced) right beside the terminal. I parked there for a Grandeur cruise last month. There’s a ramp to roll your suitcases up. Super convenient. Sign up on the Port of Galveston website for parking Loyalty rewards and it will discount the parking a little. . Use a promo Code SPOOKY to get an additional $15 off if you reserve by October 31. .
  9. How do we identify loungers that will be in shade - Not full Sun ? Do the Sanctuary staff have a map of Sun/shade as we book? Will be my first time Trying to book Sanctuary on upcoming cruises and need shade, or else I’ll pass. TIA …
  10. This example is from a different cruise line recently with iPhone and iPad. They would not work until I changed these settings : under your phone Settings - Wi-Fi, click the “i. in the circle” next to the Princess wi-fi you are connected to. Then slide these buttons to left to turn off - Private Wi-Fi Address, and Limit IP Address Tracking. Worked for me to be able to use iMessage, get mail and surf the web. But again, it was not on Princess.
  11. good news on Grand Carymen, . Still doesn’t explain why Royal is allowing unvaccinated to Bahamas cruises from Galveston, yet prohibiting from Florida . Unless they forgot they have some scheduled from Galveston, since they rarely do.
  12. Galveston has 3 Radiance 9-night “Bahamas and Perfect Day cruise” upcoming in February and March. Yet Royal is not requiring vaccines from Galveston starting September 5. . *The only restriction note on Galveston sailings is that 12 and up must be vaccinated to go ashore in Grand Cayman. No restrictions listed for the Bahamas itineraries.
  13. oh, thanks. I probably didn’t state it properly. It’s 2 cruises, B2B that I wanted linked or connected so ship was aware I’d stay on for the next sailing.
  14. Thanks for this! I definitely didn’t need a Navigator! Not sure why the phone system sent me that way, likely user (me!) error. I really appreciate the explanation. Thanks, @Steelers36 !
  15. Thanks for the reminder. (Keeping my fingers crossed I am not moved on this B2B. )
  16. thanks for the input! It’s been a decade since I last sailed Princess. I’m really not familiar with the difference between Navigator and OCEAN. Since they are sailing from Galveston again, I’m booking Princess and making up for lost time 🌞🛳🏝
  17. I had an auto-call back scheduled, and an experienced agent was on the line. What a great help. Apparently the first agent I talked to today connected my first (of the B2B) cruise to four other people’s cruises (I knew none of them). The first agent told me she was trying to link but not working. last agent also entered the NUP in the reservations. Thanks, everyone!
