  1. I've only been on three Celebrity cruises, so perhaps I'm not the intended audience here. But I deeply dislike the Retreat concept that closes off the front of the ship, and the food in the MDR this summer was not as good as last summer, plus they lowered the classic package drink coverage to $10. Next summer I'm on Princess for Alaska mostly because of the Glacier Bay (Celebrity can't go there), but at their prices, if the food is as good as the CURRENT MDR, I can see myself cruising with them from now on.
  2. Interesting, though--for retreat it's $2983 x 2 for a couple ($5966) and $6518 for a single, so only a little over double for the same trip--seems like it's only the lowest cabin that has that horrible price. Seems like a glitch...
  3. Yep, you're right. The ones I checked were only a little over double. So some cruises are only about double and some are way over. It isn't consistent pricing.
  4. In other words, when you book as a single, the website gives you the total for 1 person, not a price that you double for the cabin.
  5. I know--but I just did a booking for a $299 per person that came out $876 for a couple and $968 for a single TOTAL. I don't think people are doing the math right.
  6. I'm confused--$1100 isn't 300% of $700--it's not even 200%, it's not even double. I'm not sure how the math is being done in this thread. That $1100 is just $1100--not $2200 for the cabin. I just did the booking I referenced above and got $875 total for a couple and $968 total for single.
  7. I just did a couple of searchs, including the November for Bahamas/Mexico 5 day and it came out to a little over double for the inside for solo. I didn't see any 450% or more. Was it a glitch?
  8. I've been watching on Paramount Plus, and I googled the original ship--only 600 passengers and no cabins with balconies! It's hard to imagine!
  9. I know you already got your answer, but heck, just as confirmation--yep! 🙂
  10. And all I know is that I was paying $1.20 for drinks that were free with Classic package one year ago. two cruises last summer, no charge for a frozen drink including in the Sunset Bar. This summer--they were charging me. There have been changes--I've personally experienced them.
  11. Interesting...I went to 2 or 3 bars that didn't make frozen drinks before going to the Sunset bar, thinking that was my only choice. Guess I should have gone to the Mast Bar. At any rate, none of the bartenders who told me they couldn't help me advised me on where to go instead or where I could find the drink I wanted. I found the bartenders to be the only less than friendly staff on the whole ship. The guys in sunset knew I had the classic package, they had my card--they didn't ask me anything, just made an expensive drink and made me pay for it.
  12. Celebrity already annoyed me this summer by lowering the Classic package to $10 drinks and making me sign slips etc. for Pina Coladas. With grats out of AI--I now see no reason for the package. I'll just pay for my cans of coke zero and glasses of wine as a I go and the grats at the end. No real need for internet at sea when I can use it in ports. I'm not sure how much I'll be cruising with Celebrity going forward. I liked the convenience of AI more than anything related to cost, and they've just made it all a more inconvenient. Add that to a dining experience on Beyond last month that did not equal either of my cruises last summer, and I'm saying "meh" to Celebrity.
  13. Well, I don't drink coffe, but I do drink cans of coke zero--so this actually sounds like a great idea! Pay what I'm paying! :D
  14. I'm pretty sure the sushi place will be open, and it's one of favorite restaurants on board! I highly recommend the tempura bok choy!
  15. The funny thing about the IV is this--it really did make the room seem a lot bigger than a tradition balcony, I was surprised. A traditional balcony has the sliding doors, curtains to the side etc., so a little closed in. The IV with the shade on top, so true floor to ceiling window, really made the room seem big. BUT, of course, it's not really a balcony, so if that is super important to you, you will hate it. But it did make the room seem surprisingly spacious, I liked the floor to ceiling window. Also, I always freeze in the AC, and can never figure out the controls--just cracking the window at top turns off the AC. I actually used that to turn off the AC on Beyond a number of times.
  16. Although after reading your initial post, it's perhaps the coffees you care about. I am not a coffee drinker. Perhaps a coffee aficionado will weigh in with more info.
  17. It's only drinks, have no idea why they called it the second Bacio...very misleading, even with the pastry Buffett next door.
  18. They weren't covered on the Beyond 3 weeks ago. I believe that that "this past Spring" is longer ago than "July 2023."
  19. I'm trying to remember even though it was only a couple weeks ago--daiquiris were covered by classic, but pina colada and mudslide cost $1 extra plus gratuity.
  20. 3-time cruiser, all on Celebrity, but Princess next summer in Alaska with my sister solely for Glacier Bay! Thanks for the comparison.
  21. Just to give you an example--a mudslide cost me an extra dollar. Those are standard Applebees level frozen cocktails not some exotic concoction--should still be free with classic package.
  22. My point is that I doubt I'm saving any money on even the Classic package, so I might as well have no package and just pay for every drink as I go. 🙂 I get the package for convenience, and they just made it a lot less convenient.
