  1. If you're asking whether or not you'll be charged for the gratuities when ordering a drink in your package, the answer is no.  You will not be charged extra.  If you exceed your drink package limit - say you order an $18 drink with a $15 limit in your package, then you'll be charged the additional $3 plus gratuity on the $3 only.  Hope that helps 🙂

"Your real complaint should be that Princess got rid of those other areas on the new class of ship, which again I don't think has anything to do with the conversation here. "

    The two are almost inseparable.

...You guys can question and mis-quote all you want....  but, it is all very clear.

Most every ship has an adult area....  an open access adult area... NOT just the exclusive 'Sanctuary'....    Carnival has open adult areas.

The Sun princess, does not....  Not at all.  No adult only option for the majority of guests.

    That is a huge 'MISS'

Questioning and throwing comments and doubts does not change that.

Again,  we certainly did not book this cruise, months ago, for the Ports....  The biggest draw was the new ship.  Now that the light of day is shining, and the veil has been lifted... It seems that there is no adult area for guests (non-Sanctuary) onboard.  And it also seems that the ship has a totally different vibe, with a lot of large open spaces.. flashing screens, etc...  That is not what we have enjoyed while cruising Princess.   And, the things we might have looked forward to are no-more.

For us, there are other options out there, and we will be considering whether we will cancel our booking.

Anyone is free to have a different opinion.  No need to go after any other person who is commenting.

I wholeheartedly agree with you!  Not having an adult area other than the Sanctuary is incredibly disappointing and would prevent me from ever booking on this ship again.  In fact, if I didn't have 4 others booked with us, I would cancel.  I can only hope that since we are sailing early February that there won't be a bunch of kids onboard.  When we cruised over the 4th of July last summer, we hardly noticed the amount of kids because we stayed in the adult only areas.  If Princess is trying to market to the masses and multi-generational families, I think an adult only retreat is a MUST!  Look at Disney, even they know the adults need a place to go!

I get the RollGlider a bit as it's a lot more complex but the ropes course?  What could possibly be taking so long?

I think once the construction is complete on these items, they not only need to be tested, but inspected and certified for use.  So depending on where that inspection/certification is to take place and when the ship is back at the appropriate port, could be adding to the delay as well.  Just my guess.

Just to clarify...  that is not an 'adult area'...  that is a very exclusive area, that is not available to most guests.   There is no open and available adult area onboard.

That disappoints me so much!  We've only cruised once on the CB last summer and spent all our time in either the Sanctuary or the adult only pool by the Lotus Spa.  I wish there was an adult only area on the Sun - either the Wake View and/or Dome/Sea View area (during the day).  Pretty sure the Sun will be a one and done ship for us.

We are also having the same issue with the app.  When we go to order the medallions it says “unable to load”. There are six of us going and all with different phones.  The problem is not our phones.  When we called Princess we were told we had to use the app to order the  medallions and to give it a couple of days.  That was 2 weeks ago.  Called again and were told exactly the same, use app and wait a few days!

We have been on the phone 4 times, 3 different people and none of us have had any success in getting dining arranged.  Not inclined to book with them again.

If anyone has any suggestions please inform!

We are on October 19th so the fiasco should be in full swing as they are implementing the changes.

I'll pray for you!  We are not on until Feb 2025 so hopefully things will be sorted out by then - but then again who knows what other changes they'll decide to make.

  8. @capriccio With the yesterday's announcement about the Sanctuary Collection, it now clearly shows on the Princess website that the Sanctuary is 16+.

Exclusive access to the Sanctuary Club

This tranquil top-deck space is reserved exclusively for adults (ages 16+). Spend the day in total bliss as you relax poolside with a craft cocktail. Order some bites and beverages from a custom menu, even find your flow with wellness classes. Here, it’s Zen time any time. Especially when you reserve a private cabana.

I am only Gold Status haven't paid yet and it is letting me pre-book the specialty.

What level stateroom are you booked in? For our 2026 cruise on the Royal, we are in a Reserve mini and I was able to book specialty dining over 2 year out.  But on the Sun we don't have a stateroom that comes with priority reservations.

  10. We are booked in a cabana-mini (deck10 - not reserve).   My only concern with these changes is that we purchased the Premier package and since we won't have early access to make specialty dining reservations, we may have difficulty booking our two included dinners with all the suites now having Premier, plus their included embarkation specialty dinner.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out once the new dining reservations open up.  I think our backup plan will be to drop to the Plus package and forgo specialty dining if it proves impossible to make reservations that work for us.

Just curious, we have never been able to go to the Sanctuary since we are too cheap to pay to use the venue. But, on the Sun  Princess we get to go to the Sanctuary since we are in a suite as I understand. If we have kids in our suite can they use the Sanctuary on the Sun Princess. I think the other ships have a no kids policy in the Sanctuary, maybe I am incorrect about that as I said we have not been before. I wonder how this will work on the Sun Princess. If the kids are fine I think that will be OK. Most kids seem to be well behaved, so I guess this will be a good change for families.

The Sanctuary is adult only on the Sun, same as all other Princess ships.

  12. Saw your post this morning and checked both my app and online accounts and both now have my husband's email.  Explains why I didn't receive notification of the recent dining changes for our next cruise.  Best I can tell, the change happened some time after 3/19/24 (last date I received an email from Princess).  If Princess only knew how many thousand unread emails my husband has, lol.  I tried chat to get it changed and they said I had to call.  I'll go through our TA at this point.

We are in a suite on the Sun Princess in July.   I have tried to book for several days and it always reads no dates available.   Going to give up and book when we get on the ship.

Reservations on the Sun have not opened up past 5/31 at this point.  I'm sure they'll be opening up dates soon.

  14. We booked on the Royal in January 2024 for a February 2026 cruise w/premier package.  I was able to immediately book our 2 (each) specialty dinners through the app w/out having to pay in advance.  For whatever reason I find that signing into the app with my booking number instead of user name and password seems to work better.

  15. We had the Plus package on our 1st cruise last year. For us it was a no-brainer.  I budget tightly at home (YNAB for the win!) and we splurge on vacation.  On that cruise we had 2 specialty dinners and bought a $99 photo package on the last day.  Photos aren’t usually our thing, but they got some great shots of us that would be nice to use at our funerals some day (we know our youngest daughter has secretly started a folder). We booked our 2nd cruise a week after returning home and got 2 other couples to join us.  We’re all excited to try out the new Sun Princess.  This time we purchased Premier because we know we’ll want to do a couple specialty dinners again as well as casual dining (which wasn’t available on the CB last July), plus we’ll have a lot of fun with the photographers with this group, and my BFF and favorite sister-in-law will drag me to the fitness classes daily, something I never managed to get to last time.  We also accidentally exceeded the Plus pkg drink prices a few times last year, but dang those Old Fashioneds were worth it!  Premier math made sense for this trip, and we liked walking off the ship last year with a tiny bill (thank you TA OBC, and stock benies). Personally we would never not do a package but we all cruise differently so it’s nice to have options!
