I thought the "White and Gold" party was a tie-in to the

"The Real Love Boat" television show.

The show died quickly, although probably not was quickly as it deserved.

I don't think CBS even broadcast all the episodes they made.

So, what's the point of white and gold now?

Maybe just something fun to do like some of the other cruise lines that have theme nights such as RC's White Night, Disney's Pirate Night, Virgin's Red Dress Night, HAL's Orange Party, etc..

Wow how time flys MAY IS ALREADY half gone.
I’ve been checking posts and a lot of good losses last week.

Stressors are the same. My son will come home this weekend. He’s been in Temple, Tx with his dad.  Bless his heart.  His dad (my ex) had a stroke.

My neck pain that radiates down my left arm  is the same.  Barely walking 2000 steps a day.  Just trying to not overeat.

Sorry about your neck pain Izena.  Sounds like you have a nice son to check in on his dad.  Hope you can find some relief soon.

This week I weighed in 1.8 lbs higher - ugh!  I attended a baby shower last Saturday that was at an Italian restaurant and food was served family style.  There were no good options for me, so I just ate as little as possible so that I wasn't sitting there rudely not eating at all.  Then there was Mother's Day brunch which had me cheating a bit. I've been good all week but still paying for the weekend.  It's so irritating how quickly the weight goes on and how slow it comes off.  I need to up my water intake, so if you don't hear from me I'm probably in the bathroom, lol!

I finally weighed myself (last time I weighed was 4/28/2024).  I am now down 1.6#.  I was surprised and am very happy.

Today I had a mammogram and everything came back normal ... this is a good week.

Hope all who celebrated had a nice Mother's Day and that everyone is having a good week.  Jan

    That’s great news Jan!

Our cruise isn’t showing events yet, which is weird because your cruise is a month later.

I will see if I have anything white and gold (I doubt it though)

We lucked out in that I plan to wear my former MOB (mother of the bride) gowns for formal nights and one happens to be ivory and champagne - close enough to gold for me!  Hubby will have a matching champagne tie with his tux.

Out of interest how do you know there is a white and gold formal night? We are on the Sky in June and are not aware if one of the formal nights is white and gold?

This was found in our app……

    • Hi!  Sorry you're having stress Izena, hope things get better soon!  Great loss Susan!!  I realized that I didn't check in last week and the week before my math was off, at least it was in my favor (5lbs less to lose, lol)!  I've been really good these last few weeks with no cheats at all, not even on the weekends.  I haven't even been drinking during my golf leagues.  It's paying off with over 2 lbs lost last week and 1.5 down this week.  I'm down 18.6 lbs since mid Feb with 7.2 to go to meet my cruise goal weight (we leave July 1st). 🙂 Hope everyone has a good week!  Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there!!

You just need to be realistic that your "deal" is a one time thing because it was your daughters first booking with Princess and someone at Princess's marketing department hooked her up with the comp for you.  It has nothing at all to do with the volume of business that her agency does with Princess.

Agencies can kickback a portion of their commissions as either OBC or through a discount or possibly as free gratuities.  But even if her agency was the number one selling agency in the country they would not be in business very long by giving out 700 or more in perks on each booking.  There's a sliding scale that they can kick back depending upon the type of cabin, the length of cruise and their volume with Princess.

Just be prepared for a substantially less of a perk on any follow up cruises.

Never said I expected it in the future, just grateful for the perk.

Are you sure?  It does show as complimentary on the cruise summary, even though you paid for it as part of choosing the plus or premium booking package. Even on a 7 night, for 2 people it would 840.00, so that seems like a very generous gift.

I’m positive.  We booked last July and asked to have the Plus Package but our TA (daughter) was unable to add it so she called Princess.  We are her 1st Princess booking as she specializes in Disney.  Anyway, she was told it couldn’t be added because it was comped due to the volume of business the agency she works for does with Princess.  We only paid the base rate for the cruise.  I priced it out before calling her to book so I’m absolutely certain we did not pay for the package.  So it really has more to do with the agency than our individual TA but it’s free to us none the less.

I'm sure if you priced out the cruise with another TA, you would find that your TA's price was very high. No TA can afford to give their customers a gift of that size. There just isn't that much profit to be made in booking cruises.

Our TA is our daughter so I’m sure we didn’t over pay for the cruise.

Special art for an access disc seems like a waste of funds. There are no extra on board benefits. Guess Princess will do anything to extract extra funds, no matter how small, from their customers.

Maybe it's a waste to you, but if others are willing to pay to enjoy their medallion a little more, why not?!  The more revenue they generate, the better it is for all of us.  We went with the basic medallion but certainly don't begrudge others who decided to personalize theirs.

  10. I appreciate your write up.  We are sailing on the Caribbean and had purchased 2 Thermal Suite passes for the week for $149 each as you stated.  We ended up upgrading our CC/RC mini-suite to a window suite which includes free access to the Thermal Spa so I was able to cancel the passes.  We actually saved $22 in the process and I feel better knowing that if we don't like the Thermal Suite, we didn't waste money on it.

thanks everyone!  So I got on the phone and at first it looked like I had to re-book under their new promotion which would mean losing the three-for-free promotion and given all the drama I have had with getting refunds for the cruise I cancelled and rebooked in January (still waiting for the last refund to come through!) that was a no go.  Then the woman said, oh hang on, it looks like i can just switch your cabin and you can stay on the same booking, so a mini suite but the same perks.  And so it is done!  So I have actually saved $20 - the bigger cabin didn't cost me anything.  Amazing!

I booked a guarantee cabin (just a very basic balcony) back in 2019 for the Baltics cruise on the Regal and it was fine, so I will just hope for a repeat of that experience,  only with a big bathroom and more space!  Thrilled.

Good choice!  Bigger bathroom and all the perks that come with the mini is a no brainer.  Glad it worked out for you!!
