Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yes, we have always done our own air and I’m finding this to be quite stressful to not have any control over the flights and seating. It was free air, but somehow I thought that Viking with at the very least provide seat assignments in advance. Thanks for the advice based on your past experience, and we will look into that for the next trip for sure.
  2. We were also told not to go for air plus until we had received our initial. We were prepared to do air plus but the flights they offered got us in later and we didn’t want to give up the time in Prague so stayed with what we were assigned initially. We were surprised to find there are no seat assignments for two of our three flights to get to Prague and every time I contact Viking I get different information. Now it appears we are not able to get seat selection until 23 hours prior to departure. Quite frustrated by this and especially the amount of time that I’ve spent calling the different airlines and departments I have been directed to.
  3. The drinks that are included are very limited and far more so than the basic package we’ve had on Celebrity and other cruise lines. The cost to upgrade to the Ultimate doesn’t make sense unless you are drinking a lot and don’t have many port days. Our biggest complaint was on two Azamara Cruises six weeks apart there was not a daily changing selection of red, white and rose wines but the with one exception part way through our second cruise when one new bottle was introduced, it was the same every day. Both times it was blamed on supply chain issues but most weren’t buying that especially as many were private labels for Azamara.
  4. We had a shore excursion in the Caribbean in December that was not at all as described. It was billed as a catamaran snorkeling trip but it was not a catamaran. Another guest described it as an old scow. The seas were quite rough and water too murky to see anything and should probably not even have gone out. Passengers complained after and were told they had emailed the company about the tour and we’re waiting to hear back. Azamara never did address. On another cruise in January/February we ended booking all tours independently with other providers and were so happy we did. We did two tours along with many other fellow passengers that were identical to Azamara. We paid $190 US PP for one and Azamara charged $399 and the other one was $120 and Azamara charged $299. The passengers that paid the shipboard prices were not happy at all.
  5. Thank you! Look forward to hopefully meeting you onboard. My father in law was from Antrim/Belfast and we’re hoping to visit family there in the next year or so.
  6. We are also boarding the Pursuit on that day. We boarded the onward in Miami December 1 and check in was on the pier and very efficient. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on hotels in Buenos Aires?
