Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. This event is included in the cost. It is an evening event on a private island. You get fed and then watch a Polynesian show. For my cruise, they ran exactly three pontoon style boats (much more seating than the tenders) to take people to the event. Then they run three back after the event. There's no coming and going for this one. People could stay on board the ship and order room service for dinner if they wished to skip. As far as I recall, they stopped tender service at about 14:30 the day of the event, so whatever you have planned that day on shore, you'll need to get back for the last tender. I hope I remember that all accurately. To confuse you more, there's another day with lunch on a private island, with swimming and water sports brought to shore. That one has tenders running during the event so you can come and go to the ship as you wish. That's before you get to Bora Bora.
  2. Yes. For the Bora Bora trip they used a larger local pontoon type boat, not the regular tender.
  3. Recently came off the Wind Spirit. The Captain joked about the bad internet on the ship, so I suppose this is not fixed. I did not use ship WiFi. I used the Tahiti-WiFi unit someone mentioned above. It worked well for me, with the expected exception that when well off any island the signal dropped. For example, when sailing between Bora Bora and Huahine. The device was convenient and carried it on excursions and had wifi just about everywhere.
  4. Just got back from this cruise. For us it was day 2 in Bora Bora. We had a great time.
  5. Recently returned from the WindSpirit and Tahiti. Receptacles onboard required no adapter. Hair dryer included in stateroom worked fine. Stayed at Pearl (before) and Hilton (after). Pearl required the cheap two prong European adapters. Hilton had the fantastic universal receptacles that we plugged right into, no adapter needed. Enjoy your trip.
  6. First time in Tahiti and first time on Windstar. Booked for May on a seven day. Interested in any opinions on the best ports for excursions. I'm guessing (having never been there) that some ports may have more to do "on your own" just walking/relaxing and some ports may have less to do just hanging out. Assuming that's true, it would seem I'd want to buy an excursion at the "less to do on your own" ports and wander aimlessly on the "more to do ports". I could be thinking incorrectly and would like some opinions as I do my planning. Also, I'd assume when you are having a long stay, like on Bora Bora, since one does not need to be concerned about the ship sailing away on you, that buying a less expensive local tour directly would be a good bet. Appreciate any insight.
