  1. Pre-cruise out of Civitavecchia Porto, we recently stayed 3 nights at Hotel Cambridge, walking distance to Termini. While our room was not a Triple, they do have them in the same building. We used Termini as "Base Camp" to go daily to the sites we wanted to see; it worked well and there are lots of dining options convenient to the hotel. Post cruise, we wanted to be closer to the airport and stayed at Hotel Intorno al Fico. We could hear planes when outside in the courtyard, but not in the room so no issues sleeping. The hotel is walking distance to the beach (currently off season, but we made the walk anyway) and a great pizza 🍕 place. Our room was a Triple, even though we didn't need it. It was a great choice for a one night hotel stay, but not for "seeing" Rome.
  2. See this is the reason everyone misses those shops - they stop when they hit Good Spirits then everything else is, well, not found til later, lol
  3. Thanks for the recommendation. We will try it in a couple weeks. We used Termini as "base camp" walking there daily from our hotel then going out to whichever sites we were seeing and would say none of that area is pretty to walk through. Just hope it's safe - we did it it for 3 days just a couple weeks ago and will do the same when we return.
  4. You might also send them an email asking they add people to your group to get you to your number. They did that for us.
  5. If it's not too late to help you - we used Italy Tours last week for the Sorrento, Pompeii, Positano tour. Positano was only a brief stop at the lookout; enough time to take pictures and make purchases. We knew that from the description and from the overview the guide gave at the start of the tour, so not a surprise. We had 2.5 hours in Pompeii (supposed to be 2 hours, but we went long) w/no time for souvenirs. We had over 2 hours in Sorrento; could have had 3 but the group wanted to get on an earlier tender. We paid our guide cash for the Pompeii skip-the-line tickets (she paid the guide). Total tour time was scheduled for 8 hours - we got about 6.5 hours: short half hour due to group wanting to end early and the first hour waiting for everyone in the group to get off the tenders. 2 people never showed and about 30 min was spent waiting for them. The guide did a really good job and the Pompeii guide was superb. We would definitely use them again.
  6. We used Sharedshuttle.com- they were great and the cost was much less than a taxi or private car
  7. Yes, we just did it on our Oct 29 - Nov 9 cruise r/t Rome on HAL.
  8. Agree this thread is getting long and I tend to start at the end working backwards as others mentioned. Starting a new one with this one linked for quick reference would be great. Thanks for asking.
  9. Be sure you go to Shore Exc Desk not GS and do it before you go on the excursion; GS cannot do the charge move and Shore Exc cannot it once the excursion is past.
  10. I asked a couple months ago and was told that it's possible to extend final payment date before initial deposit is made, but not once actual payment schedule is posted. So, if you do a courtesy hold, for example, and call in before converting it to a paid booking, they can adjust the final date then take your deposit. You will see the new final payment date instead of the original one.
  11. Seizure? At what point did OP ever mention anything about seizure?
  12. Yes the Kindle stuff works - no issue, cruise app does not
  13. Yes, that is what I'm saying. For some reason, boarding passes from my husband's Navigator App never have a check-in time or boarding group on them, but mine do. Being 4* and therefore having priority by way of our status, we just use his and it works just fine. Including as recently as Oct 29 - we boarded, ate lunch in MDR and were enjoying a glass of wine on our balcony before 1:30pm. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  14. @Denise T With a sister, mother and grandmother who all have/had difficult to manage diabetes, I understand your struggles. Hoping the new Dr is impactful for you. 💐
  15. Very important days; long line of vets in my family (including DH and parents) so Veterans Day is impactful for me. Yes on the meal and wine, pass on the drink and quote, not been to the port. Both days in history need to be recognized and remembered. Shoulder and numb foot really got tested during the cruise - neither passed.😓 I have appointments already scheduled and hoping they'll bring relief. Canceling the upcoming TA (Nov 26 Rome->FLL) is not an option, so whatever needs to happen between now and then needs to be productive. Our ports were all terrific and the weather mostly cooperated during the Oct 29 cruise - hoping for the same on the Nov 26 cruise 🫣 Bon Voyage @GTVCRUISER My heart warms reading of Baby Murphy's progress. Prayers and positive thoughts for all.
  16. Not enforced on my last cruise from thete. Easy peasy check in and boarding. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  17. Used HAL gift cards to pay for an excursion days before leaving on Oct 29 cruise. I had to remove the items I was paying for w/cc to complete the transaction w/gc then put them back in to use cc to pay for them. It was way after hours so nobody to call - it was a pain but I accomplished what I wanted to do.
  18. While they are used interchangeably, Shipboard Credit and Onboard Credit are slightly different. I can't speak to lines other than Carnival, Princess and HAL - Carnival uses the term "Shipboard" and does allow you to use prior to sailing. HAL calls it "Onboard" and restricts it to use once boarded, but most of it can be moved once you board.
  19. And the people still in line beyond the 10 min are relegated to the pony clean-up crew?
  20. I was due to receive my 100 day medallion on my May AK cruise on the Eurodam. I did not get it.🫣 Once home, I reached out to the Mariners Desk; response said I would get it during my next cruise,🤔 which was the one that just ended (NS Rome r/t Oct 29-Nov 9). I once again, I got off the ship w/o it and no invitation to a ceremony where they would have been distributed. 😪
  21. HAL beach/pool towels are the blue & white striped towels that are usually in the closet, seen in the very bottom of this picture. I moved them there (along w/the robes) from another shelf. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I've never not received them. If that were to happen, just ask your cabin steward.
  22. If the email is a "private sale" the rates will be lower for you. No need to call anyone - just look up one of the cruises w/o logging in then look at it again after you log in. When you get far enough in to select cabin type, you will see the prices change.
  23. We got off NS in Rome Thurs Nov 9 - were told dry dock would include installation of the library & Starlink and removal of the staircase by the casino to allow for the expansion. Will be able to compare b4 and after when we are back on Nov 26. Another thread has a picture of her already in dry dock. So exciting!
  24. You've received lots of tips to help you put together a great trip! For us, not-to-miss (in addition to Whute Pass Rail in Seward) is Ketchikan 4x4 self drive. This is the one port we welcome rain as the wetter, the better! We did this our first AK cruise and now make it a staple. You can book through the ship or through various providers. https://www.alaska.org/detail/adventure-kart-expedition
