  1. that's an interesting experiment to run on yourself. so if you can manage on 5 pairs for such a long trip, you know that would be enough for any shorter trips - and not need to take the other 3 'spare pairs' 5 is not excessive - so one on your feet for travelling there, 1 is probably flip flops that take virtually no space or weight - leaves only 3 actual pairs of shoes in a suitcase.
  2. Was it this fellow? He was really good..
  3. Yes thats the bottom line. If you like wearing jeans, do so. If you don't own any or dont like wearing them at dinner or in x situation - don't. Just don't expect everyone else to adhere to your own personal dress code - which I'm not saying anyone on here was doing, but sometimes you do read comments saying that sort of thing. I read an old review which said they were disappointed Scenic dont enforce jackets at dinner - which is really silly, since the dress code is clearly stated as casual. I guess if casual clothing of others is a deal breaker for anyone, perhaps river cruises are not for them.
  4. I found that music museum tour really interesting. It might depend on which guide you get there., the one on the day we visited was really good.
  5. ^^ Yes I realise that. Which was my point about jeans in the dining room, all this talk of how they are not warm enough is moot point re wearing them to dinner.
  6. Yes it is part of the Forbidden City. Fascinating place to visit. Your turn....
  7. And back to the original point of wearing jeans at dinner - I doubt any dining room is that cold that you would need long johns under your jeans. Also, surely people wear jeans for longer than just one evening - I would wear them that day and the next day,( with a different top) not just dinner and the next day.
  8. Well ,sure, I dont wear them for running or active sports either. But for everyday wear, I find them comfortable and wear them a lot. At home and on travels. Comfort is purely subjective, of course - but that is me. I also don't live or travel anywhere very cold so the extremes of freezing weather don't affect me.
  9. It's a painted water tower. Maybe the one at Heywood,Victoria?
  10. I often do this.(on any travel, not just cruising)
  11. we travelled with prescription meds (but same would go for OTC meds) and we had them in one of those weekly organisers - but had photo of original containers and original prescriptions and letter from Dr. I guess you could ask for a letter from pharmacist confirming OTC meds are what you say they are. We did this more for Singapore airport knowing Singapore is very strict on this sort of thing. However nowhere, i n any customs airport were we asked for this - and no mention or question at all on the actual cruise. (Amsterdam to Budapest)
  12. Well it doesn't look tropical so probably not Florida and co. Wild guess : Boston
  13. So, OzkiwiJJ as OP of this thread and hopefully everyone on same page now - would you post a photo to get us going again?
