  1. I posted the link in the other thread, but I'll do it here too: - https://www.cunard.com/en-au/find-a-cruise/M605C/M605C. None of them say sold out. The prices are all still there, you just cant click on them. Other voyages that have sold out always say "sold out" - they don't give a price. To me, this says Cunard hasn't allowed any bookings to start for this voyage - probably to stop people from taking good cabins for five nights and scaring off people who would want it for the world voyage or USA to Sydney. Your best bet might be to contact a travel agent and give them the cruise number and maybe they could get around it. Or it might be a matter of waiting until Cunard makes it available. On a related note, I was just looking at Queen Anne's 2025 Auckland to Sydney trip which has been fully sold out since it came on sale now has some availability - albeit only Princess Grill. https://www.cunard.com/en-au/find-a-cruise/H506C/H506C
  2. Something weird going on with that one. I was keeping an eye on it too, but it disappeared from the listing on Cunards website about a week before the cruises went on sale, so I don't think they are booked. Perhaps Cunard has removed it until they get the numbers for USA to Sydney to avoid good cabins being taken by those on a five nighter? Edit: still comes up when you google it, just can't select anything.https://www.cunard.com/en-au/find-a-cruise/M605C/M605C
  3. Yeah, it's especially good if you're in an interior cabin and like to see everything that's happening or just want some fresh air, I must have ducked out onto that observation deck about half a dozen times a day. I was in 11015, literally a few seconds walk to get out on that deck or onto the glass elevator and straight to the spa, commodore club and library. There's a laundry there too. Closest I could get this time was 13019. Hopefully it's all right. At least it will be quick to get to the rooftop and the pool.
  4. People generally try to avoid being up high and at the front of ships. They're always the last areas to sell out. I love deck 11 forward for quick access to the glass elevator and forward observation deck and I actually enjoy feeling the movement of the ship.
  5. I just noticed I'm in Sydney overnight on my embarkation day.. A bit annoying, paying for an extra day to just sit in port. Had anyone else had this before? I've had it on disembarkation before (actually last month in Sydney) but I've never seen an embarkation day on the day before it sails.
  6. Queen Mary 2 - Sydney to Hong Kong 2026 booked. Kind of weird that I booked at the future sales desk on board the Queen Elizabeth and it seemed as though most of the cabins were booked even though it was the first day the cruise was available (actually the day before, when it was only available to World Club members). I couldn't get a cabin where I wanted even though it's not a particularly popular location (Deck 11 forward).
  7. Captain Chris Wells pronouncing it "Que-nard" - 4:20 in this video: https://youtu.be/uVk13Q4OxBc Commodore Rynd, also "Que-nard" - 0:20 in this one: https://youtu.be/1DVWBocvuKw Captain Wells, also "Que-nard" - 2:53 in this one: https://youtu.be/z_i2tgNopQQ Commodore Warner, also "Que-nard" - 0:18: https://youtu.be/XPzzGac1T3g So in conclusion, I have way too much time on my hands today.
  8. Just to muddy the waters a bit I was just watching a youtube video of the QM2's titanic anniversary ceremony and Captain Hashmi pronounces it like "k'nard" - about 2:10 in this video https://youtu.be/3ARC8hwav14
  9. I did it last year on QM2, it was a fantastic tour. I was back on the QM2 last month and enquired about it at the tour desk but was told that it wouldnt be run during the Fremantle-Sydney leg but would be run after Sydney. So its a luck of the draw kind of thing.
  10. Just to follow up this, just finished my cruise. The waiters refer to the things not on the menu as the "a la carte menu", so if theres nothing you fancy you just need to ask them what options are on the a la carte menu.

    3 Queens

Really a missed opportunity by Cunard to have the three Queens in Sydney within a week and not have them cross paths.
  12. The captains on the ships I've been on always say it like "Que-nard" (with a quick "que" and longer "nard"), if its good enough for the captains, its good enough for me.
  13. That would be amazing. I'm thinking Sydney to Hong Kong on that trip, depending on work. Or maybe even San Francisco to Sydney. The Auckland to Sydney leg is way too short.
  14. Pretty easy to do. If you were to use it for each meal there's six trips on the lift and then you only need to go out twice more during during the day and night. Lots of older people on Cunard who wouldn't use the stairs even for a single floor.
  15. I think the elevators are the real culprits. Not everyone even goes to the buffet, but how many times a day does your average passenger use the elevator? Ten times? On a ship like the QM2 that's 26000 times a day people are touching those same few buttons. I never understood why when they go to defcon 5 when there's a covid or gastro outbreak the first thing they do isn't having elevator operators or a team constantly disinfecting them.
  16. The protocols have been very much relaxed in the last few days compared to a week ago which I can only take to mean that there's not many sick people left and 1600 of us disembarked in Sydney today so that leaves a pretty fresh ship.
  17. I disembarked today in Sydney. My second trip on the incomparable QM2 and I loved every second of it and am now planning my next trip on her.

    TV's on QM2

Yes, the way it's mounted flat against the wall makes any other HDMI on the TV other than the one wired to the ship inaccessible. There is however two USB ports you could (with some difficulty) get to. Whether they'd work is a different matter as hitting the "source " button doesn't have any option for USB.

    TV's on QM2

Mine isn't . Screen mirroring works though if you want to watch your own stuff.

    TV's on QM2

I'm on too, LG in my room, Samsung in my travel companions (both the same room category). Perhaps some got replaced during the refit.
  21. Glad to see QM2 on another world voyage after missing a year but the itineraries for Australia are shockingly bad. Given that they pulled Queen Elizabeth out of the region with promises that the Australian market would still be important as part of world voyages they could have thrown us a bone. My options are fly to New Zealand for only a five night cruise back to Australia, or embark in Sydney and have to go all the way to China.
  22. I'm on QM2 now, we just had the new itineraries delivered to our cabins.
  23. Yeah, it's pretty poor form when cruise lines that cost less than half the price like Carnival have always available dishes on the menu for everyone. Especially when a lot of Cunard dishes are a little esoteric. I remember one night there was only a choice between a couple of seafood dishes and some vegetarian eggplant thing. Wish I knew then that I could have requested a steak or chicken.
  24. Excellent, thanks. I love tomato soup so will have to remember that one.
