  2. Lengthy corporate tenure is even more reason she should know better than to incrementally degrade the quality of a discretionary consumer product. No one is minimizing the devastating financial impact of covid and the need to restore profitability. My issue is the 'thousand cuts' are not announced nor rolled out in a cohesive fashion (which ships? when? permanent or temporary?) which leads to speculation about the latest new policy du jour amongst pax and even worse, leaving the crew holding the bag to explain poor food quality, menu reductions, reduced cabin services, etc. For newbies like me, it reeks of false advertising. For the loyal multi-cruisers, I can only guess how it must feel to watch the degradation of an experience they've loved and enjoyed over the years. Hopefully this plays out well for all.
  3. Reminds me of many corporate environments when a new leader takes the helm and makes immediate changes (read: cost-cutting) without fully understanding the impact on daily operations and customer satisfaction. Sometimes the knee-jerk alterations work, more often they fail.

  6. Speaking of cutbacks, can anyone ( @DingoMomperhaps?) currently on Equinox please confirm the pared down $9.95 Room Service breakfast menu for non-Aqua/Suite guests? App shows only scrambled eggs (no fried, poached, omelets), no pancakes or French toast, no cold cuts and only three fruit choices (no assorted fruit plate).
  7. I've had positive experiences filling out and emailing the Best Price Guarantee form. In your case, write a brief note explaining that promised OBC hasn't been applied to your sailing. I've generally had an email response within 24 hours or less and it beats waiting on hold on the phone.
  8. Just received cruise docs for our September sailing and, as others have noted, one section says one wine per adult pax and another part reads two per. If I really wanted to bring two per, I would point out the discrepancy in the docs and assume I would prevail. Shouldn't be difficult for X to review and correct the error in their paperwork, correct?
  9. @jelayne Which ship did you check? I'm hoping this is just an app blip because Equinox doesn't show omelets/fried/boiled eggs nor griddle items (pancakes, French toast). Again, not a big deal but was planning on at least one RS hot breakfast when we sail in a few weeks.
  10. Looking at the app menus (I know, not reliable) for the 8/19 Equinox 8-night ABC cruise and it looks like the RS breakfast menu is pared back for non-Aqua/Suite pax. Can anyone on this sailing confirm if these changes are reflected on the nightly hangtag? I don't mind paying the upcharge for a hot breakfast but I expect a little more than just scrambled eggs and three fruit choices.
  11. Ugh....let me guess, the 'seafood sauce' was crafted from leftover tilapia. 🤣 And only one measly cube of chicken?! Weird thing is other posters have shared recent MDR reviews with photos and it doesn't appear as bad as your dining experience. I don't doubt your assessment one bit, rather I'm puzzled by the wide MDR food quality variation from ship to ship. Can't help but wonder if the disparity is due primarily to each Head Chef's interpretation of budget management, supplier cost/quality variations depending on port of origin or ??
  12. Perhaps part of Laura's strategy for X cost-control is to drive pax to the buffet to reduce costs for waitstaff, sommeliers, linens, etc. If that's the case, not sure how the current MDR/OCV spaces would be reconfigured to accommodate seat-yourself dining.
  13. My understanding is the OP opted for AI so he would have the Classic drink package. If that's the case he should be able to get any Al Bacio coffee drinks up to the $10 limit.
  14. Take a look at posts #20 and 21. My guess is X is phasing out the Bigelow products which is why some pax still see them in use but they're no longer listed as an amenity on the website.
  15. Looks like X has scrubbed (no pun intended!) mention of CW Bigelow toiletries from the list of Suite/Aqua/Concierge amenities. Didn't plan on using the shampoo anyway but not thrilled about using Made in China products.
  16. I was also amused by the pointed "stay away from me" retorts. Maybe it's my age or my own reticence to engage with strangers but I think I have pretty good social awareness skills and the ability to sense when someone does or does not want to chat. Generally speaking, folks like to talk about themselves and their experiences, especially in a vacation setting. That said, I would never open a conversation with my new cabin neighbor by stating "Hello! I'm Jane and this is my husband, Dick. When did you book your cruise and how did you get this cabin?" 🤷‍♀️🤣 To the pax who don't want to have anything to do with me should we end up on the same cruise, not to worry - I will leave you alone.
  17. Very fair query. Who knows, perhaps the "new" party was surreptitiously moved to OPs cabin against their wishes. If they don't want to engage in friendly "how was your booking experience?" conversation, that's their choice as well.

  19. Anyone else having issues trying to upgrade to Premium Wi-Fi? I was previously booked for Premium beverage and Wi-Fi, canceled both and successfully rebooked the beverage package. The app and website show the Wi-Fi upgrade sale price is available for my September cruise but won't allow me to checkout.
  20. Some TAs (ie, big box) don't participate in Move Up. OP hasn't shared if the request is lateral or an upgrade.

  23. Love my Sanuk yoga mat flip flops and wear them year-round. Fortunately the lack of arch support doesn't affect me and the between-the-toes thingy on this brand doesn't cause irritation and blisters like the rubber flip flops of my childhood many, many decades ago.
  24. Equinox MDR menu has reappeared for the July 30 sailing. My guess is the prior charter cruise had a special menu which wasn't reflected in the app.

I've been somewhat 'meh' about our upcoming Ascent preview cruise but your travelogue has definitely rekindled my excitement. Btw, thanks for your comments about the spa seminars; I won't waste time trying to melt off my excess fat. 🤣🤣 Happy future travels and wishing your DH a speedy recovery (and immunity for you!).
