  1. ummm ... it just seemed to be one of the highlights for people. That's all.
  2. What is even the premiere dish there? a double-burger with cheese?
  3. Do you all break into a chorus of “If you like Pina Coladas”? If yes, I’m there.
  4. Wow, I didn’t know folks on this board came from such wealth! Did he have a bowling alley down there as well?
  5. I’ll have to see if I can hunt them down since I’m sure it’s the first question everyone will ask me when I return.
  6. The only thing I know about cruising is what I’ve seen on The Love Boat. All my life I just had heard it was a cruise staple. It looks like fun.
  7. I vote for putting shuffleboard in there. For some reason the activity most synonymous with cruise ships doesn't exist on the Encore.
  8. No, as I just explained, I saw enough. Does a brilliant plot kick in half-way?
  9. "How many times?" You mean people are willing to sit through that more than once? In preparing for my cruise, I wanted to see if it was worth booking so I watched a video of it. I think I probably stomached watching about 15 minutes of it before I gave up.
  10. Not that rare apparently, there are at least two of us in this small thread. Seems to me getting a 'free beer' at a show loses a wee bit of it's appeal when you are on a boat featuring "all you can drink."
  11. Sure, enough beer and you might not notice you're spending your evening watching a bunch of bearded burly men poorly singing cliche 80's tunes and dancing with mops.
  12. Sorry, in my circles, "cruise ship entertainment" has always just been viewed as an oxymoron. Pablum for the lowest common denominator, and like parsley on my plate, it's something I have no interest in. But whatever 'floats your boat." On my boat, I'd just prefer the resources for "entertainment" be allocated elsewhere. If I get bored, I plan to focus on two things - eat, drink (and be merry)
  13. Like I mentioned earlier. The problem is obvious. Not enough mimes.
  14. Nah. What's different about him than any other cook? When you order an omelette at a restaurant where the cook isn't standing right in front of you, do you walk back into the kitchen and hand him a dollar?
  15. I wonder what Canada's original justification for this nonsense was. Must just be they are anti-birthday parties. Hope the craic flows despite their interference.
  16. Somebody said they were doing the overflow included-breakfast there, so the space isn't completely wasted. Has anybody else seen interesting comings and goings with that "un-special" restaurant?
  17. Looks like we only get it embarkation night on the Encore 7day trip. So guess I will need to eat enough for the whole week.
  18. I was just thinking they could get around this by opening up portable bars on carts on each deck, "voila" 17 instant bars! But they have already predicted my hack, and it reads - "One bar per deck that provides hospitality services." Give me some more time, I'll find a loophole somewhere.
  19. Sure this is a Victoria thing? or a NCL staffing thing? I find it hard to believe even the crookedest politicians would micromanage how many bars are allowed per deck on a docking ship. But after the last few years, I suppose nothing Canadian politicians do surprises me. I will just snag a few cans of hard seltzer from bars during the week and keep them in my fridge for Victoria.
  20. Do they make any sort of announcement, or ring a bell, that first night when WA's extortion stops, so I know when I can start going crazy ordering drinks?
  21. Sorry my mistake, "up to 16." https://www.ebay.com/itm/185179299379
  22. $50? You need to come to some real dives with me, $15 prime rib specials and the like. Let me know when you're game! And I never tip more than 10% anymore, since servers on the west coast all make at least $15 hourly minimum wage.
  23. I figured. Maybe I will jump up behind the mic, do some crowdwork, and try to get my trip paid for.
  24. How do you define "real money?" Absolutely amazing to me how the cruise convinces all these people to work for free. I wish I had that magic power.
